@kennymac honestly, there is no set winning formula. You have your scheme and sometimes it might not work against everyone and you have to switch it up and do things you haven’t done before. It all depend on your opponent and how they are playing you. If they are running man all game, you don’t want to keep trying to throw zone routes at him, you want to pick some plays that get open on man even though you may have not ever ran those plays before.
I like to start off with the run game to help set up the play action pass for a huge gain. Burn the clock as much as I can on the first couple drives and then come out in the third drive all shotgun formations in a no huddle offense. Then halfway through the third drive switch back to burning the clock with a run game to set up the play action again.
I start out using the RPO plays and then I go to the shotgun formation pass first then I go back to the ground game. Sometimes I use chew clock to hurry up the game as well.
