Overall Thought on Defense...

As the playoffs are here, and I guess we all played the game throughout its entirety. I have to be honest on what I have played, and the game is heading to the right direction but it still needs a lot of work on certain things. I have seen Joystick Jocks (sub and follow him and his brother) Twitch stream on playing NBA LIVE 16, and it left me with the question. Why isn't EA not capitalizing? What I mean is that the features that made NBA Live no matter if it's BounceTek; Synergy; Live 365; certain physics; FIBA; All-Star Weekend; GTMs (signature shooting and abilities); etc. How come none of those are not carried over, and modified in the next series to keep it more crisp? Out of all honesty, you can see those features that EA once had in 2K, and I can't hate on that but I do have a issue with a couple of things in regards of NBA Live 19.

One major issue is defense for me. I feel like it is lost when you're in a 2-3 zone, it is more spread out with tons of backdoor cuts revealed where the AI is definitely not your friend.

Defensive logic is very abysmal, and I am on the fence of 20. I need to be sold on the future of this. This clip shows there's no defensive situation where you either guarding the ball handler or basket, or vice versa. Watch how lost the defender (Trevor Ariza) is going to the furthest part of the baseline, and watch how the AI finally realize that the offensive player is going to score. This was a lost in transition defense based on the AI, and I hope the developers would look into fixing defense. Because it's not always an offensive matter, but you got to look on the defensive side of the ball where it is painful to deal with and frustrating.

Another defensive situation where the defender (Dominique Wilkins - LUT) is not set in defense where this is another 2-3 Zone; there was a backdoor cut that happened where Nique didn't respond or be alert; and Kelly Olynyk is the big man shooter drives the ball down in the middle, and Nique finally responds on defense but it's too late.

Different situation now regarding the guard being a lost on defense. As you can see Lou Williams is just standing there, and 4 (including myself as a big in the paint) are active. Williams is standing still without double teaming Thomas, and the computer running the offense perfectly executed the ball movement which that was a screen and cut. What pains me a lot when seeing that is where Williams is standing still, and the AI snaps back in where it took Jokic to come close to Williams to bite for a screen. So now the hypothesis leads to the question. Does it take the computer running offense to get the defensive computer to be more active on guarding the ball? In those past tweets I have put up it seems like it.

While watching a stream earlier today on Twitch by Joystick Jocks. The most interesting thing that caught my eye, and what I wish that NBA LIVE 16 should've had. What caught my eye on Live 16 was the defense was very alert, but what they should've had in the game at the time? Coaching strategies on if you want to play tight or loose defense on the player, and defensive focusing as well. Hopefully, defense needs to be addressed along with other things that I will be jotting down on here for the devs to take a look. NBA LIVE 19 can be fun, but frustrating when it comes to random people you'll encounter that is not good. Especially where you see LUT being less challenging compared to NBA LIVE 16, and it's basically the complete grind that you would want to see in 19 on what you seen in 16 but capped intangibles. Which the person by the name of Carlos is right about that, because 16 was solely defensive based, and the grind is worth it especially in the LUT side.

Enclosing this post, when it comes to defense. Defense wins games, and sure that offense gets the glory. The devs need to address the problems of the broken defense in the AI, and why there is a player lost.
Not the Usos, but yeah... Day 1 ish since 2005.
