Every year I always hope for some visual improvements to the players, ice, atmosphere. Looks like I'll have to keep waiting. Even the board ads are all the same.
Glad they are updating the deke system though. Judging by the commentary, maybe they're focused on making the game more "fun," which is definitely a slippery slope.

Go look at the FIFA 18 teaser. It's just showing cover athlete and that Icons are coming to PS4 because Sony got marketing rights for it. It says nothing about the gameplay changes as that comes later since it's still 3 months away.

I get that but man, there are good hints if you listen to it. However if you look at the goalie at the end of the trailer, it scares me that goalies may have been untouched again even though to me it has been one of the biggest weaknesses for years. But if you listen to the monologue it sounds pretty intriguing,

Well people asked for better dekes, more figure type skating, and more offense if you watch their Facebook and Twitter stuff. So now the realism might get toned down and people get their old style NHL series back.
The teaser should have showed off the defensive skill stick in action. Then at the NHL Award they showcase the new dekes that take a big pile on the dmen's chest as they go by.

Glad they spent the resources to add chewing on your mouth guard. That plus the announcer explaining how hockey is taught to be played then saying that's no fun does not bode well
