Around this time of the year in 2016...I asked about this...and the devs responded and said it would be in NHL 17...it did not make it into the game...or there was a miscommunication somewhere. When they started to promote the game...the webpage said all new practice arena...but it did not say EASHL...and when the game launched there was no practice mode for EASHL clubs.
This year I am really counting on them to bring this back into the game. It is incredibly fun to play small games versus your teammates and is also fun to actually practice set plays.
I have a few friends that I always try to explain how much this mode would help them so they can experiment with learning new things in an environment where failing has no consequences as compared to trying to learn stuff and failing in EASHL games and feeling like you are screwing over the team because you are bad.

#NHLDEV get this mode back in the game.
Pretty sure it was one of their producers on their ask EA page.
Might help get EASHL up from an average of 2.1 humans per team, if 2 teammates coming on can hop in practice together until more get on. You know theyre not going in a Drop-In.

With the current state of EASHL and EA's direction of an arcady 3v3 mode probably made to appease those who don't want to, too lazy to, or simply can't make or maintain a full club, the likelihood of them spending time on something useful like an actual practice mode seems slim.
By their numbers, there are more 2s and 3s "clubs" out there than 5s or 6s so I understand the appeal to cater to those. IMO EA never gave the mode the attention or incentives it needed to really flourish so of course it degraded over time to what it is.
Like you Sneakler, I've been waiting a long time to get that practice mode back so our club can work on stuff when needed or help to bring along new members. You were spot on saying it is was basically club suicide for a new member to mess up in club and have to "learn" on the spot. Simple things we more advanced players take for granted like cycling, give and go's, and timing are not so easy to understand in the heat of the moment for some people.
Since EA won't set aside time to teach people the game with an intuitive tutorial (at least), it makes no sense why they wouldn't allow us to do it ourselves with a practice mode. What the hell are all those arenas for?
EASHL make the most sense for a practice mode, well, outside a goalie practice, that should be mandatory for all would-be goalies, before they are allowed to go online.
So how many years do we have to wait this time, to get back to where we where in NHL14?
It needs to come back but give us a no clock free skate where we can do whatever we want, multiple pucks on the ice would be even cooler when doing shooting drills.

Agreed. They did say they added a pretty extensive training guide in nhl18 with actual video...so hopefully that will help new players understand the basics and beyond.
You want to know why there was only 2.1 average players per team in EASHL? Because none of the **** bigger games worked properly. Somebody drops out, doesn't make it in, less numbers due to a brutally awful matchmaking engine, constant error screens and bad loading sessions, high lag and a plethora of other dumb shlt so the large games take forever to find so people easily amused play 2's because it's super easy to find those games because there's less complications. Nobody wanted to play goalie this year because of the constant r@ping of skill to goalies that actually know how to play.

That's partly the reason. The other reason is that it was much faster to pad your stats and unlock all your club stuff with just 2s and 3s. Just run havok on the brainless AI that plays like it was programmed to be worse than 5 yr olds on skates, because that's what the brainless HUT and VS. masses want.
And that's probably what we're gonna get this year again with the AI.
Also, no GOALIES want to play this mess because...
EXHIBIT A:
EXHIBIT B:
It's already so GAWDAYUM hard to play as a goalie in this game, and then we gotta deal with NONSENSE like this nearly EVERY GAME we play. I swear, if during the BETA, a puck goes through or under my pads like this, or some random rebound goes DIRECTLY into my net because "reasons", I'm uninstalling that sh*te so fast off my hard drive, 10 other games will get uninstalled along with it...
Because the SUCTION would pull them off my drive with it, THAT'S HOW FAST IT'S GONNA BE OUTTA THERE!!!
But Venom, Exhibit B though...i assume the game made you try to auto cover the puck that was 5-7 feet away?
The goalie is not the issue here. Look at how the puck bounces off my pads, then it bounces off the BACK of the d-man's skates in a perfect angle and arc so that the forward (who never looked at the play) can simply bat it out of the air and into the net.
If that had been the ONLY time I've seen a "suspect" rebound go in like that, it might have been cool... But after the 1 THOUSAND time, it's starting to get a little stale. After loosing too many games to "weird" bounces like this, the soul kinda starts to erode. Every little bounce HAS to go towards the net. Every one...
How can you claim you want your game to be "E-sport" when stuff like this happens on the regular? You think sponsors will put down tons of cash, players spend countless hours perfecting their skills only to lose to a game with the prize on the line to something as CONTRIVED as these occurrences are?
We could go on for years about how rebounds should be improved.
The RD should have initiated an attempt to get the puck when he skated to it...but the game decided he was contemplating a soccer career at the time.
As for the deflection, i say remove auto deflections completely. If i'm not trying to deflect the puck, i probably wont have .0001 reaction time to a deflectable puck. Also, nobody on defense ever deflects the puck towards the blue line like they do in this game.
Lol Venom cant help himself when it comes to talking **** about VS players, huh? Do you feel better about yourself in doing so?
High level VS matches do, in fact, take skill to win in. Incomprehensible, I know.
Oh I don't doubt there are a few "diamonds in the rough" out there... People that have the raw talent they need to be effective in 6s.
But believe me, for the most part, people that do nothing but play 1v1 modes get completely exposed if they need to play with teammates. And it has nothing to do with their "skill", but with their mindset. Because the game doesn't teach them the basics of playing a team based sport like hockey. You can't trust your AI forwards because they're useless. You can't rely on your defense because they're MORE useless. And you can't depend on the AI goalies.
So these people learn to rely only on #1: themselves... And then that's how they play in 6s.

Total disaster.
So sad.

I will guess yes. Same goes for goalies playing as the 6th skater, it will still not be fixed. Like probably, ever.
