"The NHL® 18 Beta will be available to play on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for players who have registered."
Meanwhile, the sign up page says that signing up does not guarantee you will get a code.
I am probably getting way ahead of myself here, but if I am correct in my statement, could it mean less people signed up for the Beta than they had originally estimated?
Other people might want to play EASHL right away, but if i will immediately test to see if i can keep up with people using NHL teams while playing as an ECHL team like I could in last year's beta. Hopefully I lose badly instead of only 1 or 2 goals....when i actually lost.
I just would like more clarity if its 3 skaters vs skaters and ai goalies then I could see it getting boring with the amount of the same breakaway moves being done over and over
When referring hockey the goalie never counts as a skater. So saying 3v3 means 3 skaters vs 3 skaters and 2 goalies are implied unless otherwise. So when everyone says 6s they mean there are 6 people on a team controlling a player. So you'd say 5v5 in reality. It gets confusing a bit but 3v3 will be 4-8 players online.
Also, reason why you wouldn't say 6v6 in real life is because Goalies aren't meant to be leaned upon to play offense or defense. They're there so long shots don't go in. Anything else is the 5 other guys on the ice problem not the Goalies. Never count the goalie because you shouldn't have to rely on a goalie. ( why do you think top clubs and league goalies face 10-12 shots a game. They're there to look pretty and for morale support. Anything else your on an average team. ALL about the 5 guys infront of the 6th)
EASHL 3v3 = 6 human skaters plus 2 human goalies.
NHL 3s = 6 human skaters, CPU goalies.
3 players instead of 5 and neon boards?
My hockey wet dreams just became reality Lol
this
Here's my prediction: BETA will be good. Human Goalies will be slightly better than they were in NHL 17. People will be testing out the new "manual" dekes and the defensive stick, so scoring will likely go down because of it.
Scrubs will complain that goalies are too good, the defensive stick is to over powered. Devs will nerf the sh*te out of both when the game release in a "day one balance patch".
Welcome to NHL 07 v.11.0.1!!
You will buy it day one. You heard it here first lol.
I actually won't though lol. I haven't been able to play online without massive delay for the past 2 years. I'm not saying I won't buy the game at all, but not day 1. All my nhl buddies play Destiny and convinced me to pre-order Destiny 2, I won't have time for both games. My plan is to wait a few weeks for feedback and if the delay is gone I'll buy It, if not I'll wait till Christmas and buy it just to play franchise mode. That will give me a solid 3 months on Destiny
I predict they will remove the ability to skate while using the defensive skill stick, so it is back to broken wave the stick around uselessly while killing your skating momentum like every other game again.
Prediction for dekes: the good players from previous gen will show the kiddies how it is done, creating incredible looking goals that we saw on old gen. All the new kids attempt to mimic the good players and over-do it, causing them to constantly lose the puck at the blue line. They complain, devs bring back invincibility frames to most dekes. Welcome back to NHL 12.
One can only hope!
Is it a fact that manual dekes are back? I thought I read something about them putting dekes on face buttons now? Which means at least those dekes would be automated.
If you are using the skill stick controls the dekes are going to be more like old gen, with some new button combos in there like clicking RS. I've been told the face button deking is on the 'easier' controls like hybrid (and maybe NHL 94? not sure). I'm not sure if there is limitations to the dekes that you can do with the face buttons or if they can do all the same things that the skill stick can.
Pretty much this hahaha, just like every other year but we still can be excited can't we? hahaha
