Hm, quite a few goal line goalies again in dropin EASHL? Seems to be working for them too. Sometimes they're way over at the other goal post and just extend their glove to the other post to catch the puck? Is that how you're supposed to do it? :#:#
  • MY PLAYERS SUFFER FAT-MAN LAG IN THE BETA, JUST LIKE THEY DID IN 17, JUST LIKE THEY DID IN 16, AND JUST LIKE THEY DID IN 15. THIS HAPPENS MORE THAN HALF THE TIME AGAINST ME WHERE MY OPPONENTS ARE ON RED BULL AND MINE CAN'T EVEN HANDLE A PUCK OR SKATE. YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX THIS COMMON ISSUE.

LISTEN TO YOUR PEOPLE EA. WE'VE BEEN YELLING ABOUT IT FOR YEARS NOW AND YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT GIVE US SEAMLESS PUCK PICKUPS, TEAM MASCOTS, AND HOT DOG VENDORS IN THE STANDS. THE SKATING ENGINE WORKS ONLY FOR THOSE WITH ZERO LATENCY...NOBODY ELSE, AND ITS THOSE ZERO-LATENCY FOLKS WHO ARE YOUR LEADERBOARD WINNERS EVERY YEAR WHILE EVERYBODY ELSE FIGHTS THE CONTROLLER MORE THAN THEIR OPPONENTS.

TAKE THE TIME AND LOOK AT THE THREADS AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT THE COMPLAINTS ARE ALL ABOUT. WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE FEATURES UNTIL YOU CAN RESOLVE THIS LATENCY/LAG/WHATEVER ISSUE.

I'D BE HAPPY TO CHAT IN PM AND GIVE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AREAS AND HOW EA, MY ISP, AND UPGRADING ALL OF MY INTERNET EQUIPMENT HAVE HAD NO EFFECT ON THE QUALITY OF GAMES PLAYED. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE ON MY END, TO NO AVAIL.

Exactly this!! Everything else is secondary!! Get this fixed and half of what people complains about related directly or indirectly to this will be solved!! But that's just my opinion...and the person above as well..loll!!

No... I've seen goal line goalies get lit up because the stupid sharp angle goal line goals are still in the game. Last night I had two of them go in on me from almost perpendicular to the goal line, even though I was in position to stop them.

Along with the uncanny rebounds and deflections that always go in the net, this is a major letdown. I'll give it another try, but I'm beginning to feel like the honeymoon period with the BETA is already over and we'er starting to see all the old problems from NHL 17 come back.

    2x
  • AI players still a bit soft in EASHL when a human skater is on a breakaway I wanna see the AI at least try and poke check or stick lift or something... Also AI shot accuracy needs to be toned up more AI misses alot of good shots that at least should hit the net
  • I don't get it why can't they get it right the first time ? Back in the day when there was no online / beta the game was fun and playable with not many glitches. today NHL feels sluggish / slow ... turning feels weird

Has anyone else had trouble moving their player after face-off? It's happened to me a couple of times in EASHL at the offensive end when playing a winger. When the puck drops, it takes a bit time to get the player moving, seems like he's skating over sand or something.... I've tried different controllers so it's not that and it only happens during face-offs.
  • IMO Threes feels very childish and the announcer is extremely annoying. I wouldn't buy the game just to play this mode.

Also keep losing connection to other players mid match in ESHL. I have played 5 matches and haven't finished a single game.

COMMON ill propably take you 2 weeks to complete your game lol... same musics, same commentary.. NO gm online again.... EASHL same background again... no news stuff... you probably put money on HUT ...

    I was a true FAN ...

I miss NHL 2014 .. NHL 14 was the best of all

Goal line goalies can still get lit up bc reactionary saves are nerfed. I just wish they somehow program it where if they goalie is playing too deep in the crease clappers from the point should beat them consistently if its aimed to the top corners. This will force them to come out of the crease and challenge the shots from the point instead of staying too deep. Just make save coverage area really high when goalie is top of the crease on shots from the points, and if if too deep in the crease during these shots save coverage area should be super tiny. But I'm pretty sure they will somehow totally break goalies (like they did with that one patch before they re-tuned it) if they try this bc not too confident about the dev team when it comes to human goalie mechanics.
  • I feel as if the defensive skill stick still isn't strong enough. Given, I haven't had the time to master it yet, but from what I've seen, it's only useful in certain situations, namely 1 on 1 defense. I honestly would like to see a slight bit more automation in the use, namely to be more comparable to defense without having the dss active.

What I mean by that, is the stick still isn't all that useful for breaking up passing plays. Because of essentially the 1 to 1 control scheme, it's required for the user to have the skill stick in perfect position in order to break up a pass, otherwise the pass will get through, despite being faced towards the play, being in a glide, etc.

With the DSS inactive, the player will intercept/break up plays autonomously if in position. With the DSS active, this automation is completely eliminated.

I am fine with the 1 to 1 control scheme if that same scheme has to be used on the offensive side as well, but currently it isn't. Passing still has assistance when being used. Against poor players that don't know how to situationally pass, it doesn't have much of an impact. But against good players that know how to thread a pass through people using the system, it becomes much more difficult to actually gain use from the stick because it lacks the correction assistance that passing does.

Right now, it's extremely difficult to react quickly enough, and put the dss in the perfect position, (all things considered) to intercept a pass made by a forward, despite being in complete control. The smallest difference in stick positioning to a passing lane will allow the puck to get through, despite (in reality) the player normally being able to react and break up such a play.

At this point in time it is still more useful to prevent the pass without using the dss than it is with the dss active. That shouldn't be the case.
  • I liked the beta overall but there are some things that NEEDS to be fixed. I have been playing NHL since 09.

    The Bad
    • Puck pickups does not feel good this year either, it's slightly better but it still happens. I don't know why it is so hard to nail this EA?
    • Too much penalties, me and my two friends all get 5 penalties (minimum) every single game which makes the game less fun in the long run.
    • The celebrations feels outdated and where is the 5 man celebration? Come on now.
    • Some highlights camera angles makes me puke. Like the one showing the goaltender from the back (inside goal cam). It's the worst angle ever when you want to see your nasty goal you just scored.
    • Post game highlight reels are still really boring. Also highlights throughout the game (like player highlights) doesn't show the plays that stood out the most. Feels almost random.
    • Goalie AI does still suck. They doesn't learn... You can do the wrap around goal how many times you want in a game and score every time. Not ok.
    • NO PRACTISE MODE?! Only Beta

    The Good
    • 3's is fun to play with friends. I cannot say much more about it, it's solid.
    • I like the new dekes. I have seen a lot of players saying they want them to be easier to do but I strongly disagree. I don't want a game where everyone is deking all over the ice 24/7. It's balanced enough as it is. It should be hard to complete some dekes.
    • Passing feels better this year. Still not perfect but nothing that affects the game too much.
    • Defensive skill stick is great, maybe a bit too stiff in the animation.
  • Kicked out of a game because I was on the bench during a delayed penalty for " Careless Wandering "

Says there's no new stuff, but complains about the new stuff. Who cares about the background anyway? There is some new music between stoppages. There's a new soundtrack too. A true fan cares about the gameplay more than music and backgrounds. There also was a voice actor strike in Canada so they couldn't do new commentary. The gameplay is different though. If you didn't notice then you haven't been playing. That or you just want to add to the toxicity here.
  • I've generally enjoyed playing, but there is very little difference than NHL 17. With that said, I don't such a bad thing. I need to get use to the defensive skill stick. I do not like that for hybrid controls, poke check was moved. I enjoyed EASHL 3 v 3. It's a different game, but my team is always 3 so we won't be able to complain about the bots. I am not a fan of the dekes. Seems like a lot of effort is put into something you see very rarely in an NHL game. However, I do like that it slows it down and they don't always work. If they want it and there is a risk using them, I'm ok with it.

I played a good bit of 3s. I accept it for what is is.... arcade hockey. It's fun for some couch play and something change of pace. I wouldn't buy or not buy the game because of it, but it was fun.

I did feel things were a little buggy. For example in EASHL 3, when on a 4-3 PP, and you get another penalty, only about 1/3 of the time did it make it a 5 on 3 PP. Also, in 3's, I found that I had to back out about every other game. It was hard to get 2 games in a row. I like that idiots can't put dark vs dark or white vs white jersey, but I don't want to play an NHL team vs All Star.

Finally, I don't think it's a dramatic improvement, but again, I didn't think it needed major changes. I am more excited to see Be A GM than anything else.

I like the beta very much i wish nhl 18 have real goal horn and songs for each team (I know there is copyright involved) Also I notted that these team im about to name doesnt have the correct goal horn or songs:

    Buffalo Sabres: Horn and Song
    Carolina Hurricanes: Song
    Colorado Avalanche: Song
Columbus Blues Jacket: The horn is wrong but sound similar
    Dallas Stars: Song
    Edmonton Oilers: Song
    Florida Panthers: Horn and Song
Los Angeles Kings: Song you had it in nhl 16
Minnesota Wild: Horn and song (The prince one)
Montréal Canadiens: The canadiens have the old horn in game
    Nashville Predators: Song
    New Jersey Devils: Song
Ottawa Senators: No goal song in the beta?
    Philadeliphia Flyers: Song
    San Jose Sharks: Song
Tampa Bay Lightning: The goal horn is wrong but similar and the goal song
Toronto Maple Leafs: The horn is wrong
    Vancouver Canucks: Horn and Song
Washington Capitals: The horn is good but not loud enough and no song in the beta
    Winnipeg Jets: Song

Also i feel the crowd is silent and feel the same in post season as regular season

Edit: Because i am a huge Franchise Mode/GM player i wish a little bit of changes:

In nhl 17, When you entered a new year in franchise, the simulation is very very slow sometimes to sim a full season took me 35 to 50 minutes! Also PLEASE upgrade the overall/time to enter the nhl of the prospect you draft in franchise mode more faster!

Edit#2: Why keep using the same song since nhl 15/nhl 16? I feel this game is a nhl 15 3.0

  • Surprised I'm seeing so much hate for skating. I've played as a playmaker/defensive d-man/offensive d-man/ puck moving d-man and with those 4 builds I have noticed an increase in agility/turning radius. No it is not that of the older days where you could spin circles and puck rag forever but it is much closer to a realistic simulation that has been missing the past 3 years.
  • This feedback thread would actually be great if u listened to what a lot of the of the community had to say for me the biggest one is the fat man lag or the skating in mud feeling and also the AI D Men putting the puck in their own net

    – Skating is better, but its still way too unresponsive and unpredictable. If I get the puck and and want to protect it from opponent behind me, why I need to do 360 degrees spin first?? Skating is constant spin spin spin when you receive puck. If you tried to do simulation of tabletop hockey, well you succeeded.

    – Occasionally receiving puck kills player momentum.

    – New VS UI is nice, but you can't see 1) your opponents connection status and 2) your opponents team. I don't want to play those yellow and red connection matches and I don't want to play with regular NHL team vs All Star teams.

    – DSS is nice but feels very clunky to use. Occasionally I need to press R1 multitple times get it work. It also feels a bit too sensitive to control. Its also inconsistent, I have sweeped throught opponents stick and legs; no puck dislogde or penalty.

    – If both player poke puck near boards at same time, puck still goes thought the boards. Fix it already.

    – Seeing goal coming of its place is nice but its just wayy to inconsistent. Your player just leans against goal, its off, but when you ram opponents goalie full speed in goal; nothing.

    – Puck pickups are still just awful. Too slow and too long animations, theres no time to protect the puck or pass it on. Too many times player just ignores the puck when its between his legs.

    – Goalies still cant shut the puck when its slowly rolling in front of them. They just do that same animation over and over again missing the puck all the time and in process are so out of position that loose puck is easy to pick and score to empty goal.

    – AI is certainly better, but it still very dumb. On PP your d's stand on wrong side of blueline. Two time on 2 on 1 situation my own winger just randomly cuts on front of me preventing scoring chance. On defence they they still ram own goalie out of position.

    – Some sound from checks or slapshots loops like 20 times

    – Poking/sweeping the puck to your own player and trying to do instant slapshot just freezes the player.

    – Face-off in center ice is laggy, and could you please already fix player bringing his stick to face-off through refs legs. That looks just bad.

    – When face-off is in opponents end, your winger closest to board freezes and/or you cant take control of him leaving open gap for opponent to attack.

    – Slapshots misses the puck wayyy to many time even if the puck is on your players stick.

    – When taking slapshot from blueline and it hits you player near goal, he's injured, but when you hit multiple times against same opponent carelesly speeding towards you, he's rewarded with puck gluing to his stick.

Overall the changes are to better, but they are so minimal that it feels like this is a mandatory patch. Fix those problems and I might buy this when its on sale.

Your problem is caps lock-related. Seriously dude.

  • Reading through the replies and seeing so many complaints about the skating makes me very sad. I really like the balance that has been found between the puck carrier and a defensive player. In 15 or so EASHL games, I've created all sorts of turnovers from players who are used to the puck carrier having more low-speed agility than a player without the puck...only to have the puck poked right off them because the playing field between puck carrier and defender is finally even. Based on reading replies, doesn't look promising it's going to stay that way.

I say all that because I really don't want the skating to change at all. I am not experiencing the slugglishness that others seem to be. I find the opposite, that there's a bit less weight in the skating this year than last year, and like I mentioned above, there's balance between puck carrier and defender. Especially on the forecheck, where a lot of "skilled" players abuse low-speed agility to puck rag in NHL 17.

Equally as important, the animation speeds are consistent right now, so that most animations like puck pickups and body checks play out at a consistent speed, and they're not long, drawn out like they are in 17.

All I can say to the EA folks reviewing this thread. Please remember the silent majority...I believe the majority of the people who like this game will never invest the time to come to this forum and tell you this is a good game. I hope the data you see on your side is equally important in your review process as the stuff you're reading in these replies.

I mean no disrespect to the other people posting here...everyone is entitled to their opinion on how the game should play. I just disagree with a lot of the negative sentiments.
