the hybrid controlls in nhl 17 and nhl18 are different. why the lift stick and poke check buttons has been changed/switched? that makes no sense and is hard to play....
make hybrid great again!
EASHL 3s should be shorter. If it is supposed to mimic 3 on 3 OT in the NHL, why is it a full 3 period 20 min game? If anything it should be 3, 5 min periods or maybe even 1 realtime 10 min period.
Currently as long as the periods are, it can get a bit boring imo.
You have to be able to pass during a toe drag or when you hold the backhand toe drag down. Make absolutely no sense to not be able to pass during those animation.
Whether this has been said or not, I don't know. I don't want to read 8 pages of posts to find out; I apologies if this has been said already.
3 vs. 3 EASHL:
Penalties. This is my only gripe with this awesome new mode.
First penalty: We should go 3 on 2. I see feedback of going to a penalty shot straight away but I think that you don't want the decider being a result of some damn elbowing penalty that you have no control over.
Any subsequent penalty while shorthanded should result in a penalty shot.
If there happens to be a penalty when 2 on 2, penalty shot.
Also, either make penalties shorter or speed up the penalty time. I agree with the post above that the games can be too long but a lot of that has to do with penalties.
After all the feedback, I still end up at TPS/skating is terrible and a plague to this game. Vision control is a close 2nd as it's not reliable and only partially works.
Fix skating, fix TPS or remove it! and you fix every single game play issue. Then go back to classic vision control, it was perfect.
Nothing else really matters, fighting, jerseys, mascots, etc. lol.....
Skating/responsiveness (vision control) is key to an enjoyable game.
Yes, ever heard of color blindness? Plenty of people have it. And many games have it.
"Red–green color blindness is the most common form, followed by blue–yellow color blindness and total color blindness.[2] Red–green color blindness affects up to 8% of males and 0.5% of females of Northern European descent" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blindness
Like I said, many games have colorblind modes. As far as I can remember, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer already had it over 10 years ago. Many FPS games have it. WoW has it. League of Legends has it.
There are many ways to implement it. In my opinion the easiest way to do it is to let players customize colors on their screen -- shirts, puck highlight color, puck color, icons above players' heads etc.
Has anybody ever experienced the game booting you back to the Xbox (or PS4) dashboard after a really crushing hit against the boards? Happened twice to me and my club over the weekend. 1st time our RW got absolutely stapled into the boards, game paused hard and then everyone was ejected from the game and found themselves on the X1 dashboard.
Then yesterday, we were loosing a game badly, and I decided to release some pent up frustration and started hitting everything in sight. I caught one dude pretty hard in front of his net that sent him flying backwards. Right when I hit him, game paused hard... And then we all got dashboarded.
When we got back to the DR, the match didn't count at all even though it was the end of the 2nd period.
It's pretty funny when you think about it, but if left unchecked, it might be used as an "exploit" to avoid a loss by just laying crushing hits until the game wigs out.

This has been an issue since NHL 16. I remember if you hit somebody in that game from a very specific angle that player would lose connection from the match, and get sent to the main menu. It was funny I admit to absolutely level someone and literally knock them out of the match, but an issue nonetheless.
It sounds like what you are describing is an even more messed up version where the game crashes altogether.
Can Ben or Dave chime in on whether this has been addressed for release?
In the 10 or some club games I've played in the BETA, I've had the game crash on me twice. Both times dashboarded after a really hard hit. I didn't get disconnected from the EA Servers or Failed To Retreive Data either.
A few of my club buddies did get disconnected because of lag or server connection issues, but they had that problem in NHL 17 as well.
I remember getting dashboarded a few times in NHL 17 as well, but I don't recall them happening because of a hard hit. This time it was clear because the hit happened, everyone in the party was like "WOAAAAAH!!", and then the game froze and crashed to the dashboard.
The connection and matchmaking has been great during the beta and I was placed in a west matchup over 90% of the time. This is a huge improvement over the NHL 17 experience. However, we should still have the option to force a region of our choosing.
The gameplay in NHL 18 feels pretty sloppy and I don't feel like I am in control a lot of the time. It feels like I am at the mercy of the game and that is not good. Here are my main issues:
- Many passes miss the mark without even trying to lead the pass and with 100% pass assist.
- Puck pickups seem worse than ever. This is so annoying.
- Puck control in general seems a bit low as it too easy to lose the puck.
- I lose the puck way too often when doing dekes and spins. I play as a 2-Way Dangler and this should not be happening. I am not an Enforcer.
- Poke check seems OP and can be spammed with little consequence.
Like I mentioned before, I do play as a 2-Way Dangler and I play Center. So, I am looking for a balanced game that rewards skill and good control. A good deke and puck movement should be rewarded just like a good poke check and positioning. A lot of times it just feels like I am fighting the game instead of the opponent.
The improved matchmaking, higher resolution with PS4 Pro, Defensive Skill Stick, and new dekes are welcome, but this feels like a half-**** iteration and I don't even feel like the core gameplay has improved over NHL 17. In many ways it has gotten worse with the sloppiness.

Same thing happened with my club last night. Although other people in the LG shoutbox we're complaining of error codes as well.
NHL THREES after a goal or the gt holds it. Wouldn't it be better to start behind the goal instead of in the middle of the ice for a free shot before the other player is ready? There is a glitch goal you can do from that spot.
Drop in 3v3 needs to be able to pick more positions or this mode will be dead. Personally as 6v6 one person leaves everyone leaves as they want to play 6v6 only. So I do't think this 3v3 in EASHL will be anything but a flop sorry.
My cam settings isn't saving randomly I have to go into my settings mid game and change the cam. ( even tho the one I want is already selected.
VS 1 in 3 games feels like I'm stuck in mud , sluggish and its a chore to do anything. Then the next game its perfect.
All modes. All star teams need to be removed from the ranked games no one wants to play All stars vs red wings every game in vs.
The new stick is great in defence and I can really see this is going to help stop the noobs who try for one timers over and over. I'm guessing it will be a nerfed a bit to trip more in the full game.
the puck pick up is a joke. we need button to force the pick up if the puck is near. its so annoying that its fully automated and it works so badly. you can never trust your player to pick up the puck or intercept a pass no matter how well you are positioned. if you are going to insist keeping it automated, then just crank puck pick up to 100% for a game plays sake. except when someone pokes the puck from you. it seem the player with the puck is always able to pick it up first and just plow their way through.
this seem to be worst in games where there is fatman lag. you just never pick up the puck. you loose all the corner battles. your player skates strait through the puck without picking it up. you tackle player of the puck, but he gets up and picks up the puck before you. passes go strait through your stick as if you were not there.
C) Couch Co-Op, my favourite mode online versus, is only for Casual (not ranked). Needs to be fixed ASAP. The default for matchmaking should also be for any amount of players on the opposing team.

I strongly agree with this. I have a group of friends with whom we have been doing couch co-op online Vs. every Thursday since NHL11. We are very competitive with this mode and now we are going to be lumped into a "casual" ranking system? Were single players actually complaining about multi-player profiles being ranked?
[*] I've also noticed that there's some kind of delay between when I pick up a loose puck and when I can shoot it. There have been several situations that should have been a tap-in where my player would refuse to shoot the puck for a second or two after picking it up.
This happened to me three times in one period in EASHL. First couple times, I thought maybe I already had the right stick "half-engaged" and that's why it didn't trigger the shot. After the third time, I was almost convinced it wasn't me. Two of these were on rebounds, and the other was one where the goalie dished it right to me.
- One more thing... I was the online guest for an Online Vs. game. My buddy, who was the lead profile, lost his connection in the first period. I finished the game and ended up losing 3-2. I check my "recent games" stats, and it shows that the final score was 3-3 and it registered as a win for me.

i've really not played that much, frankly I can't stand the game as it is now. but i keep trying to give it a chance almost every night. I would say I average at least 2 crashes a night. each time it happens i'm in game playing when it happens and oddly enough I think they have all happened in the last period.
I also vote for the colorblind option. I really struggled with the red & green (LW & Center) on the PS3 games. Since the PS4 release, the colors have seemed to be more vibrant, so I haven't had an issue.
NHL18, though, seems to be back to where it was before. Found myself getting confused in EASHL when I was off-screen on a backcheck or something.
Something is going to have to be done about puck ragging in EASHL 3v3 or I suspect the mode will die quickly.
When you have to send two of your players after the guy with the puck it almost always results in a two-on-one or a breakaway when you only have one player left to cover the rest of the ice.
Puck ragging isn't as big an issue with more players on the ice but in this case it's a bad situation.

I play mostly versus mode online and since ppl can't see the opponent team they all go for the all-star.
after 10 game 8 of them were vs Central All-Star.
Will wait to see if the Team selection will comeback to what it was before i buy it.
