Nothing like buttons not working, delay all over the place, and sluggish skating. My player feels like he's carrying a piano on his back. Yeah, that's hockey. And I haven't even tried club challenge yet. I'm sure everyone knows how aids that was last year. Different year, same problems. I wonder how much download speed I'll need for my game to actually work, seeing how 200 mbps isn't enough. Or maybe I have to move in with the server. Piece of garbage company. Please go bankrupt somehow.

  • I feel your pain, until I fixed my connection with my ISP I had similar problems. Fortunately it's been smooth sailing for me for years now...

What have you done? I've had this problem since NHL '09 and no one seems to know what's wrong. I've tried everything. I've switched cable companies, wireless, hard wired, different controllers, different TV's, set the picture to "Game," port forwarding, etc... Nothing has helped. I have 150 to 200 mbps download and every other game is perfect except for NHL every year. It's always delayed about 90% of the time. Hosting games seems to make it worse for some odd reason. And it's not just me because in those other 10 percent of games, it can feel really good. I just don't get why this happens to me all the time. Maybe I should make a post about this separately.
  • I had my ISP replace all the cables from the nearby switch all the way to my house. I play on ADSL 10/1 -connection, which is dedicated to gaming. I have a 4G connection for all other users/purposes. DL/UL matters little compared to latency in gaming, unless you're streaming of course, then you need a decent upload speed.
  • Yes, that's the answer: just replace all the wiring from your house to EA servers! Glad we finally solved the issue.

    LOL! Nicely done!

Me to my 7yr old Daughter: I'm sorry honey, I know you love Gymnastics and Dance classes but daddy needs that money to replace all the wiring in the house so he can play EA NHL games lag free from here on out
  • Lol it honestly almost feels worse this year so far...cant tell if it's just the game speed turned to molasses though.

I dont suppose you live in an apartment complex or something of that sort do you? Next door to one?
    PSN: B-Bunny
  • i live in a house about 15 minutes away from EAs Burnaby studio, brand new fiber line from Telus running into my house with nothing else connected to the internet. This is an open invitation to anyone from EA that thinks that this lag doesn't severely kill the game, come over to my house and play a few games and then let me know how much "fun" you find the experience.

Are you using one of those modem/router combo units? They're well known for being pretty bad. I replaced mine with a separate router and modem. It's been great since. That was 3 years ago. You also save money since you're not leasing the equipment from your ISP.
  • i have my own equipment...Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

Good. Have you tried updating the firmware on those devices?
  • yea man...ive spent countless hours and dollars doing anything in my power to try and make my connection to the servers more stable. It seems to mostly be a geographical thing, perhaps an issue with my ISP and something with their hops from the EA servers. A lot of westerners experience this game breaking lag.

dont know how to post a picture of my latest firmware thing from my network genie, but im rocking V1.0.9.6 which it says it the latest.
  • I will also like to extend a personal invitiaton to anyone who has worked on Nhl to come play the game at my house amd feel the lag.

I understand Anaheim California is far from you canucks, so you shall be well- compensated..and by well-compensated I mean I have water and bread . sorry, not much of a drinker boys .

Not much of a cook either. If you one of you boys can cook that'd be great.
  • Nah. No need to post an image. Have you done a UO Trace to see if you're getting any packet loss and high ping times?
  • yea, for west coasters EA has decided to route us through somewhere in Mass. and then back to california.
  • So many people have this issue. It's on EA's end, thanks.

For sure but EA will always have a list of excuses and point to other troubleshooting steps that don't involve their awful servers. It's never their fault.
  • Just fyi, upload speed is critical to playing lag/delay free. Download alone isn't enough
  • I have 20-25 upload

I have 150/25 but realistically I pull 60/10 which is still good.

I just played a dropin game with users that chose 2 euro teams and moved like a Mack truck.

    Wrong server I guess.
