So you can NOT edit rosters for Franchise Mode?

I don't have the game yet (not sure if buying this year as the disappointments seem to be piling up), but for those of you that have ventured into Franchise Mode....

Is it true that you can not edit the rosters?

So will players like Chris Pronger, who don't play anymore but effect their teams cap hits and are left on team rosters, not be able to be removed?

Will the "Make a Wish" (or whatever it's called) player be in the Free Agents with superstar stats so a CPU controlled team will likely sign him NOT be able to be removed?

Replies

  • I'll check later on and let you know. Man will I be pissed if this is true.
  • They still put Make a Wish kids in? I haven't seen them since like NHL 12.
  • I can't even edit my Custom Team, and I already started my franchise. I accidentally named the team with the same name "Alaska Alaska." So instead of say the Anaheim Ducks being shown, I have Anaheim Anaheim. Why oh why do they not listen to fans every year? And why oh way can't we edit rosters and teams after you have started?
  • Only in CLASSIC Franchise mode. You can't do it in the 31 or 32 team expansion modes.

Oh I misunderstood. Yeah I'm not seeing Rosters>Edit Lines, Player Movement, Captains and Jerseys for the other teams in any of the Franchise modes. That's lame.

  • If I'm remembering correctly you could never edit the other teams once you started a Franchise mode. That's why it's best to create a custom roster and edit what you want about each team and then when you are happy with your players movements, edits, etc., THEN start a Franchise mode with that saved custom roster. Again, as of now this ONLY works for CLASSIC Franchise mode.

Ahh, I see now. Well it makes sense I guess because they would have to keep the rosters to make the drafts work for those modes. However, I did like the idea of trying out the expansion mode, but I wouldn't want to get into it with half baked rosters. I mean, it sounds like the gameplay is going to ruin the experience yet again, so I guess I wouldn't have much to look forward to.

  • I always create 2 skaters, 1 for each of my sons, when I started my 32 expansion franchise as the golden knights I was able to pick them up as free agents in the free agents signing time of the game during pre-season. Dont know if its relevant to this discussion.

Added the ability to allow the user to edit their custom or relocated team’s jersey and mascot during the offseason in Franchise

But at least they just added this for you man, but doesn't say name unfortunately.

But yeah missing features like this, simple and obvious features to add in my opinion, is what separates EA from the actually dedicated and skilled devs like MLB's.

  • This is unbelievable in 2017. The reason I buy The Show EVERY year is because I can customize it EXACTLY HOW I WANT ... not how EA wants it.
