Lmao.. if they ever put a salary cap on it.. 90% of the community couldn't field a roster. Just messing of course.. I'm sure we could get a scrub lineup going.
There may be a salary based comp season. Otherwise not sure why it's there
That would be good. I like build differend kind of teams.
My first is offcourse filled with superstars i like, but sometimes its nice to play with normal gold or even silverteams.
Salary cap used to be a thing in NHL 14. There were often restrictions in divisions which told you to not exceed for example 50 000 salary cap if you want to enter. I'm not sure if online seasons were affected there. In my opinion it should be implemented in next NHL that 90+ Legend team can't play in Division 3-10.

To prevent players with 90+ team play newbies in divisions 10,9 ... For example today I played 90+ team in division 8. Luckily I won but it's still not fair. This would also force you to be more creative or actually make use of bronze or silver players because since NHL 14 those player cards are totally abandoned.
I disagree strongly. I have played many 90+ teams that should pound me due to stats alone. I have a good team and pound most of the players with 90+ teams. It is the players with the 85-86 teams that worrie me. Most of the time these guys are crazy good (most not all). The way i like to play is if my self and the opponent skip the game intro all together. No sizing up the competitor, just playing. These games are usually the most fun for me. Stats help if you suck real bad. The game this year has given everyone to run a crazy stacked team. Time to learn to play boys and not rely on stats cause anyone can roll a killer team. Dont hold out to play teams with lower stats, more than not they will be good players. Just in my experience. Cheers
I have a theory, and others can debate/argue since I can't prove this, but I feel like it's certainly possible. Something tells me that a sizeable discrepancy in player salary could be the reason for ice tilt (but ironically, only in regular divison seasons, NOT comp seasons). I've had a good record for the most part in the last 10 years in NHL games, however, in divisions this year, I'm getting killed. Despite getting to div 1 and earning myself a title, most seasons go sideways and quick.
What I noticed as a tipping point, after fixing a couple connection issues that were bogging me down for the first month, then subsequently getting on a role was:
After release was the very moment I picked up Mike Bossy. Now, you'd think the 93 would be a game changer for the better. As it turned out, i was getting CRUSHED, 13-1 was not an uncommon sight. I've since rounded out my roster some, but these games still happen from time to time, but i'm like 11-1-1 in comp seasons , but I can barely stay in div 2 these days because of games like my last (lost 4-3, but for the first 2 periods, I was down 4-0 due to Pekka Rinne, the other team's keeper dominating, combined with defense that would rip the puck off my defenseman's stick each time I won a faceoff, every stick check I "successfully" made might as well have been a tape to tape pass from one offensive player to another, or the guy I poke checked could pick the puck back up without losing stride. Now, 3rd period rolls around and now that my legends and allstars are no longer letting passes a 10 year old could handle bounce off their stick mysteriously, or just slide by them without them noticing, I score 3 and nearly made the comeback to force ot. Actually, i lost 5-3 when he scored an empty netter late, but I digress.)
One last thing, going back to the point I got Bossy, I noticed my overall salary had just exceeded 150 or 155 mil. You'll notice ALL legends have a 10 mil salary, so too many can be an issue...oftentimes the flashback cards...a cheap 90 ovr, are often 10 mil as well. What speaks to me is that the EVOLUTION and many of the master set cards, including Iginla and Jagr are active salaries, some of which aren't that high. Essentially, if you have the BEST of the BEST, I think combining that with the best TOTW cards and limiting your Legends and Flashbacks to the highest OVR and performance for your "fake salary cap's buck" is the way to go.
Ironically, this is statistically the most stacked team I've ever had (the irony being, I threw a few bucks at other teams in past years, this year, 5 bucks on release day for a gold pack...and my pre-order packs...which have netted 0 starters to date in my lineup). Still the packs were juiced out the gate and the challenges got me karlson, mcdavid and ovechkin early, which was more than enough to start up and then play the market for someone who plays a lot.
My theory is that the Bossy put me over some "threshold" of sorts that was getting me killed by any good players, and quite a few decent and even some bad players, and sometimes horribly so. I've since tried to stay away from stacking my fourth line with legends or flashbacks, and use as many milestone, TOTW, base set players as I can while keeping my TS, S, AA, RS, and FS synergies intact. Still, from time to time the game I described happens in division play. What sucks is that I'm not good enough to handle superstar AI when they turn it up, but I'm also usually not good enough to beat the average player with the endless pockets who i have a similar salary to, or maybe even higher salary, because I'm stacking flashback cards mainly, and some legends.
So, that's a theory from someone who's played nhl for 10 years, could be wrong, idk...but I tend to think there's a link between the swings in "momentum" we've all seen and felt and salary discrepancy. I wouldn't be surprised to learn record or total number of players with 10 mil+ salary ( I realized Toewes' faceoff card with the 3 synergy points actually had a higher salary than 10 mil, only one I recall coming across) also has something to do with it. Then again, if EA removes my post, I'll probably think I'm onto something .
For me team ruined player was Niklas Lidström. There is nothing wrong with that player and he`s style fits my playing style. But when i tried him my team was a bunch of rookies. And when i took him out of the roster. DING my team worked nice and smooth like before Niklas.
I'm playing with a team of scrubs right now. A ton of rookies and $925k salaries, and I'm somehow winning games at a far higher pace than with my legends team.

Why?
They should definitely have salary cap options. I rather enjoyed having to actually manage my team to play in certain salary cap tournaments/seasons as opposed to just maxing out my team with as much padded stat players as possible in previous NHL games.

True. I dont belive that matchmaking thing. Teams are so differend allways. And there is no difference if play with my best roster or normal roster.

JK.. you sound ridiculous

I have 300 gold rare players 83-86 just sitting there waiting to be used
