Everyone complains about lag, so how bout a way to get out of a laggy game without having to take a loss. No one enjoys playing in a lag fest. There is already a ping meter. If the ping goes to high for a certain amount of time, or spikes a certain amount of times, the game gives you an option to leave the game without taking a loss. This would end bad connection games, and would stop guys using lag as a cheat. I can't imagine that this would be very difficult to implement. Thoughts?

  • too easy to exploit your way out of a loss. That would be a disastrous mess

Because we don't have a disastrous mess that's exploited already. Lol
  • EA just needs to do a better job of forcibly removing player’s with bad connections that are affecting the gameplay, also using this in the matchmaking equation. Bad connections should not be in the same lobby as everyone else...I don’t agree with quitting due to lag unless they can really make it cheat-proof to where ppl aren’t just using it as a way to avoid taking the L

So the idea is to make it worse? Good idea

It would only be worse if there are more cheaters that regular players, which I highly doubt. So you would rather be stuck in a game that is full of lag, that might be being manipulated by a cheater, than have an option of getting out? Which means you are going to take a loss.

The worst thing about this game is the community that **** on every person for their ideas or questions. Looking at you Rabid! Stop hating.

sctty88, in older versions of this game there was a 2 minute grace period where you could play and check the connection and if it was bad you could leave without taking the loss. The problem with that was that is you scored in the first 2 minutes the other guy would quit. It got to the point where both teams wouldn't take a shot till after the 2 min mark.

EA could come up with a solution that suites the game type IMO.

I definitely remember those days. They just need something to help us get out if the connection goes bad later on. Maybe they could post your opponents average ping instead of the green bars that obviously mean nothing.

  • How about just offering your opponent a “friendly quit”. Mlb the show has this feature and it’s great for when the connection seems bad. If we’re tied and we’re both having a miserable time with lag I would accept a mutual quit right away

Cant see that being a solution if i pay $120 for NHL 18 which was the price of the young stars deluxe edition or whatever they called it this year i have as much a right to play online as anyone else regardless of my connection and if i was forcibly removed you can bet this was the last ea title i ever bought i actually dont play online im a franchise guy but people who buy the game have the same right to play regardless of connection

NHL 2k8 had this as well. However in the spirit of competitive games I say they should host all multi player games on their servers and then if one player has a poor connection it won't effect the other player. Then if you quit offer the option to reconnect or face some form of punishment for quitting. This way those who time out have a chance to rejoin and avoid unnecessary punishment. Ez pz. Csgo has it and so does rocket league for their competitive modes. Casual modes you can join and quit at will.

I should have the right to know my opponents/teammates connection and be able to refuse playing against/with them without penalty.

To play any online mode, there should be a standard connection level that must be met. My online experience shouldn’t be affected by someones lousy connection.

This game used to have a "mutual quit," and it was great. EA, in its infinite wisdom, removed that option, so now if you're in a laggy game you have no choice but to suffer through it or take the loss.
  • There was probably an exploit to the mutual quit and instead of finding a solution to the exploit they just removed the feature. Now I don't know if any of that is true but they have taken that route in the past.
  • I LOVED the Mutual Quit! To me it separated the Adults from the Kiddies! Get into a game with Serious lag and I offer my opponent a Mutual Quit (score tied) and they accept, Good chance they are Mature adult and want what I want, a Good Solid clean game. Get into a game with Serious lag and I offer my opponent a Mutual Quit and they deny it, good chance they're only looking for the Dub and don't care how they get it. which tells me they're a Kiddie.

What I find really telling about a opponent, is when score is Tied, have bad lag and they Deny my Mutual Quit, then when I happen to score the 1st goal of the game...that's when they send me the Mutual Quit...sorry turnabout is Fair Play! I sent you a Mutual Quit request when the game was Tied, you Denied that request and now you want me to then accept your Mutual Quit AFTER I SCORE
  • NHL 19 needs to put in coaching challenge in the game along with the stadium series jerseys. I feel like those two things would make nhl 19 ten times more popular
