Tips on entering the zone

Hey everyone,

I seem to lag a little more than my opponents most games and I have some problems skating into the zone, especially on the wing. I generally play more 3s with my buddy than anything. Having only one other human skater usually, it seems wasteful to dump in most of the time when there is so much open ice. Nonetheless I feel like even when I want to avoid a check, I’m already too late.

Does anyone have some good go-to maneuvers when entering, whether it’s via good dekes or just a better skating route? I usually play as a playmaker or two way dangler, but have recently started using jumbo playmaker just to offset some of the body contact.

Thanks!

  • Is this happening constantly upon crossing over the blue line?
  • One thing I use in 3s that works quite often is slap shot wrapping it around the boards, if they pressure you at the line just do that a few times, tell your teammate to enter on the other side of the ice, it can lead to some really nice chances.

That's a good one....also don't be afraid to pass backwards to a trailing teammate...you don't have to always move the puck forward.

  • Biggest tip that will help you out: slow the game down. Don't rush across the blue just to gain it. Let go of the left analogue trying to skate up all of the time, stop looking at your own player with the puck and look at the defenders on the team around you. If you see them looking to step in front of you, because you're slowed down you have more agility than them so cut in. If you see they're keeping you to the wing, then you can either ring it around the boards (as long as your teammates don't have a lack of IQ problem and know how to support offensively), or circle out. With lots of open ice, you should very rarely turn the puck over in 3's. You likely don't have back pressure there either.

Again, biggest tip is to stop staring at your own player and look at the other team first and foremost. If you see their skates pivot to go right, you go left. If they play the angle perfectly, make a quick dish or ring it around the boards or regroup and turn back or pass back.
  • Utilize the space in 3s. That's your best asset. I find that sometimes the wrapping clapper is unreliable...as for whatever reason my player will whiff on the dump attempt. Like the above stated, watch your teammates, use the space you have, dont be afraid to circle back either, sometimes that draws one off and opens up a lane

My defensemen just stand in the offensive zone as the puck is heading into the defensive zone uh why ?

    LOL! Wow. Very weird indeed.

maybe someone will say you need to glide more, or mash less buttons. Who knows? :)

this is a bug in the game where if the puck is poked of the faceoff, any AI on the ice will stand still until the puck is picked up
  • Is that was causes that freeze **** I thought it was just my lag.
Ty ,if that is the cause shouldn't this be sent to bugs to be fixed?
Is there such a thing anymore?
