You could always check out vgchartz numbers (even though they're not 100% accurate). If you check out every year that NHL has been out, they sell on average about 10-15% of the total numbers as North America. And it's mostly on the Sony side.
Well... considering that this year they sold just under half a mil, when last year they were already at the million mark. It's pretty bad in some respects. But you can be sure that their HUT numbers are more than making up for it.

Does VG take into account online purchases? Far as I know, they only calculate physical copy sales.
How well does Hockey sell over in Europe?. I know Sweden,Russia,Latjia are more for Stiga table top hockey..but how does EA NHL do over there?.
Hey, nothing wrong with Stiga table top hockey! Honestly I’d rather play that than EA NHL...
Sadly it hasn't takin off as well as it should have in North America because people go into a tourny and think Yeah I can do this! find out how hard it really is and go back to EA lol. Once you find out what you can do what is called as a Nacka witch is a special centre move and you can pull it off..it is more fun and rewarding than skill sick.
To me Skill stick is basicly killing the game, but it isn't. The defenceman are to slow most times to combat it in terms of repsonse of what your trying to do with the left and right stick.
Have not tried NHL 18 so as far as the defence skill stick,I never had experience with it. Skill stick was a cool feature..but something soo simple as doing a SNES NHL 94 left right bumper to get witch D man you want would be helpfull.

I don't know... Not many publishers would be willing to divulge digital sales numbers. In any case, I use VGChartz numbers as a guideline. Kinda like trying to calculate a trend within a limited scope. Whether their numbers represent 50% or 10% of the real numbers year after year, it's clear that there are problems.

Steam is entirely digital sales and I am pretty sure you can find sales date for every game sold on there. Why hide data from your customers? Unless of course there is something to hide.

Well that's the thing: Steam is a different entity than Sony and Microsoft, because games are ONLY available digitally on Steam. While on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, there are still PHYSICAL copies being sold.
Usually when a game dev gets awards and praises, they're all too quick to point it out to the masses. I'm sure if the game was selling as well as EA wants us to believe, then they'd be plastering that stuff all over the place. The fact that they keep that number a secret speaks volumes...

When NHL 13 came out, EA announced how many copies it sold during its first week (almost 500K). Last time they made any sales numbers public. Does not suggest they've been on an upward trend.
Actually I have not seen the PS4 rack of NHL18 sold out yet..axcept the Xbox One rack is empty. Lots of PS4 NHL 17 available. That might be the sign of the bad string of sales.
