STOP Playing Eashl and Play Online vs
Its the fastest way to improve your overall game.
If you keep grinding away it, your offence and defence is going to improve.
Your vision on the ice will also improve.
You might get beat , even beaf like a drum when you face better competition , but stick at it and when you go back in eashl , your twitch skills , vision, and overall game will see an undoubted improvement.
Try it for yourself. Play a sample of like 10 games. Then jump back in eashl and tell me you dont see a difference.

In conclusion, play a lot and get better
I have not the slightest issue defending "glitch shots" .
I also have not the slightest issue putting the puck in the net without relying on any "glitch shot"
Why on earth would I suggest someone who is trying to get better to skill zone it when the very reason I suggest playing online vs is to become a better overall player . a player that is versatile. A player that can play any position.
Some.might have a strong defensive game and need their offence to improve. Others a strong offensive game and need improvement on being a better two way player.
Online vs offers a great building block to improve on any area.
You still having trouble with the skill zoners? That sucks. The A.i. is incredibly stupid, and very easy to beat. But hey, keep practicing
You dont need to play a lot to get better. This is one kf the few games I dont play often that I dont have to shake off rust to still dominate.
Now if I take a week off fortnite or for honor, then yea, I need to remaster those twitch skills to stay at an elite level. Hockey, not so much. My defensive instincts and awareness always trump my oppositions thumb skills. Most of whom have hundreds of more games played than i
I've seen player who're great playing alone in HUT, vs whatever, become completely lost in EASHL, their game just melts on the ice.
Learning to play with AI and trying to play with peers is not the same.
The TRUTH of the matter is when you eventually do get to elite competition, there is practically little difference in the characteristic traits exuded by players.
They know the game so well, they are masters at what they do. Wheter that is protecting the puck, or shooting for the cheap rebounds and crashing the net, going D to D etc.
Most have excelled on the defensive side of the ice , albeit it is easier to enter the zone and breakout pass because you don't have people playing the trap and clogging up the zone (usually). Its just not as bad.
In any case, I know from personal experience since taking up online vs last year, my game is on another level in all modes.
Thought I would share my experience with others.
But I will concede that when I (who easily spends 99% of my game time in club) play some single player games I do react quicker in club later (quicker passes, better timed pokes).
No, I just don't play VS cause the mode is complete and udder trash. Player switching is brutal, 90% of the player base does the same thing over and over again. The better way to improve, in my opinion, is to play EASHL with the same group of guys. I know you struggle with constantly getting coned while going for your big hits in drop ins, but that's something you can work on in the mode. No need to go to online VS to get coned there to.
So true. You can tell when someone in my club has been on a "Hut binge" as we call it. The mentality and style they're playing. It is very noticeable that they have been playing by themselves with and against tons of AI.
Fair point. I'll agree with you there that NHL isnt like other games, especially shooters, where you need to shake off the proverbial cob webs. I do still think the more playing still equals being better. You're right, I could probably stop NHL today, pick up 19 sometime after New Years and not really have missed a beat, barring some massive overhaul of NHL 19. But I also have put in so much time in NHL since like 09 it's embarrassing. And EASHL translated to OVP much better
