Goalie diving poke check issue

I recently noticed that as a goalie when I go to use a diving poke check my goalie just does a regular dive a bit to the side.

I've went into practice mode to ensure I'm pushing the stick straight up but it still is only doing a diving desperation save and not a straight dive out with the stick.

Anyone else have this problem, or am I just missing something or screwing something up all of a sudden?
