Abbreviation for Edmonton (EDM) is profane???

I'm creating a HUT team for the first time in years, so I go with what I use for FIFA. Turns out it's somehow profane because EDM is somehow profane.... I don't get how this is even possible when that exact abbreviation is in the game.

I know its not a big deal but it just seems super silly.

It’s profanity in some language very offensive won’t be allowed
  • Electronic dance music?
  • Having 617 in your HUT team is somehow profane but isn’t as an abbreviation.

To you an abbreviation to others profanity

This is kind of ridiculous to me. So your telling me that if you are from Boston and want to make your club abbreviation show your area code "617", you can't? I understand how it could be seen as profane, but if I see three numbers as an abbreviation, I will automatically believe it is showing an area code.

I had 617 in my HUT name in nhl 15. But every year after that it was profane. The reason I heard it’s profane is because if you look at the alphabet, look the 6th, 1st and 7th number of the alphabet it will spell out a 3 letter word.

Er, ok? :/ Well, the world is a funny place these days, EA seems to think 'white man' is bannable expression too?

Again, I understand this. I just didn't want to explain it on the boards as I may be deemed inappropriate on here as well. In my eyes, this is very minor compared to some of the stuff players do in club. We're going to ban three numbers that are assigned to one of the more well known citites in the US? Yet, you can create completely racist names in EASHL at ease and very little seems to be done about it.

When I see a Buffalo (716 or "GAF") area code in any game, I attempt to chat it up with that player. A few members have joined my club over the years because we found out we lived a town or 2 away. Sorry you can't represent yourselves Boston. I say this with no intent to offend anyone, but I feel the community and/or EA is being a little too soft about this one. We just seem to be in the age where everything needs to be politically correct.

Well, Dice is Swedish - theyre really going overboard with all the political correctness and positive discrimination - but I don't want to go into politics.... I don't think games should either...

Not buying BFV though that's for sure. :#

Yeah, that shouldn't be allowed! :D
  • You can try again. EDM should no longer be blocked

Thanks for making us aware of the issue
  • Maybe they tried to block "EDL" for "English Defense League" and someone mis-typed...?

I've never heard someone call some 617 what weak society we are becoming.
