If you want position lock, that's what dropins/EASHL is for. You want to crutch on the AI doing everything for you in a competitive online game. Good thing they removed this ability.
This discusion is about offline play but thanks for your input
To be exact, this discussion is about position lock.
But I agree they could add a possibility to play locked in HUT offline games, shouldn't harm anyone.
Since they took position lock out, they should have taken being able to switch to the goalie out also. Played a kid that just switched to goalie and did that the entire game while his AI played. I beat him handily because I play more EASHL than anything, but the point is he still was able to “lock” at G without actually doing so
Go play EASHL or Be a Pro if you want position lock. It's not competitive one on one when one player is playing the whole team and one player is position locked.
Position locked online with a full AI team is just lazy. Not to mention very easy as you don't have to micromanage as much. One timers are much easier to set up as well.
Last of all and most important. Cherry pickers.
I don't care about any of those reasons. I play against the CPU, so none of that matters to it either. I just want position lock so I can play wing and enjoy the game I paid for.

They announced prior to release that position lock was removed, at the bottom of the below link. Article is dated Aug 28. Game was released in Sep.

The game has changed. Especially now with the reward system that's based on you playing games, hitting objectives, stats, etc. EA jsnt going to allow players to earn premium content, by letting the a.i. do the work for you.

I don't care about those game modes. I didn't pay $40 for extras in those game modes only HUT. Stop trying to redirect me to another game mode I didn't pay extra for. This is all about the extra money I spent on a now useless game mode. What does it matter to you if I play against the CPU and earn HUT rewards? It shouldn't.
Get over it, it's not coming back.
It's not like they advertised " NEW NHL 19 - LOCK ON TO PLAYERS AND LET THE COMPUTER DO ALL THE WORK!!" Not a bait and switch, it's called an update to better the game for the greater good.

I'm not superfan enough to follow their press releases. They should issue a refund if they are going to bait and switch me like that.
It’s not EA’s fault that you assumed that a feature would still be in the game, even though they had said it was removed prior to release. If you do want to lock, you are going to have to play other modes as HUT is a competitive 1v1mode with no position locking.
I do feel this should be allowed vs CPU or vs other position locked teams. I'm not big on hut, I feel mut is miles ahead despite the fact I don't like Madden. I just think going forward it should be allowed, make it a search criteria, players can elect to match with players who don't position lock or against anyone.
It's for scrubs that don't know humans play golie in real life and cant beat A.I for their life. Pitiful but true. I'm a goalie irl but am forced to play other positions wich I don't mind but not fun at all when it's not my position

False.
It's for scrubs who aren't good enough to play as a skater, and instead rely on the ai to overwhelm the opponent. Ai without any humans throwing them off positionally, can be tricky to play against for some.
It's a competitive mode. Your team VS the opponents team. In online, you should be controlling the team, not just a single player. No one wants to face an entire ai team in an online mode. That stuff is for offline.
Is it a game where you jump all over the place and fight for position with your team mates then when you don't get the puck position you frantically L2 until you get back to the player you want? No, this is a joke because in reality, it is already too late to get the edge back, because you need to have split second timing. Sure if you play with the same player for a year or so you can get the hang of it playing locked in but something is severely off and this is not hockey, not even close. Also, these two man grinders are outliers are not your average players. People should be able to get into a game and then be able to think the game without all the chaotic unpredictability.
Tell me how to accomplish the following simple task which is the basis for opening up the ice by creating space and distance from other players.
Not locked in
"You have the puck on the high board just to the left of the net. You just want to pass the puck to the player coming in over the line as you go up to the half wall to retrieve the open give and go. You partner is on the right wing so they are not an option at the moment. You pass the puck to the skater coming over the line and guess what? You player now a cpu just does whatever the hell he wants and your play is broken. Your idea of opening up the ice is stopped right there.
Locked in "You pass the puck to the player coming in over the line as you skate up towards the sideboards and usually if you are wide open you will get the give and go or you can call for it if there is a lane."
The point here is that now that I am using my cpu teammate predictably. If I can predictably go somewhere for a give and go then things open up. All of a sudden you guys start chasing and madly changing players rather than playing your positions. The worst part is these people are winning a battle against themselves. The game is becoming worse for it.
You so called "pros" are missing the point. You think in your minds that you have more control when you actually have way less control over the team. When you lock in you start quarterbacking the play rather than scatter-brained switching all over the place waiting to learn the unpredictable RNG game that seem to love so much. You don't love it though that is the confusing part. You play against a team that has way more control over there team dynamics and you rage and say eff them for playing locked in with no reasoning except a lengthy tirade at someone you have no idea about what type of person they actually are. Maybe they are actually thoughtful and see things clearer than you.
Player lock-in should be mandatory and not the other way around. Kids come in here and think because they don't lock they are better. That is a disgrace to the game of hockey to think that since almost all of them are trying to walk up the ice without an outlet then get over the line try to skate around until they get the glitch shots. So, easy to defend against, you just basically play your center position.
This righteous, "you should play my way", is absurd and needs to be backed by substance and logic It comes with a selfish mindset that people have to play without locking in. It is kinda like when you sing the lyrics to the song to the radio and you try to sing the chorus too, it rarely works out and results in unexpected overlap to the fluidity of the actual song.
Show me a player how can move the puck fluidly creatively without player switching and I will side with all of the haters. Even watching the championships is a disgrace and the sad part is that EA is as blind as all you naysayers. It is guaranteed that more people would be having fun if player switching was taken out of the game. Apparently, this is counter-intuitive nobody is thinking and everybody is knee-jerk reacting. Sadly the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Then instead of playing competitive ones and twos we could start the focus on rewarding full e-sports teams to play a team game as it should be and then we wouldn't need player switching at all. Imaging when the winning team was victorious 6 people jumping up with fist pump and the gaming stadium crowd would cheer instead of some kids saying, "I felt really good, yeah I locked myself in my room for the last 3 months playing with/by myself. I am really proud to represent e-sports woo.!
People generally who lack self control, creativity, are impatient and need to be the center of attention all the time, shouldn't be the voice of change.
The fact that a computer scores a goal every once in a while is the only negative to player lock in from my perspective and, in my experience, if you care about defense at all the computer almost never scores on you.
I have had this conversation hundreds of times and nobody has any good reasons except for narrow hate rants. These people clearly have no class and lack clarity and are self-directed.
I don't agree with almost everything that ea does but stop hating and come of with solid philosophies before passing judgement on people based on so illogical idea. Also, do the time on both modes ( Oh, yeah we already ruined Online Versus and well I won't say anything about HUT because I actually care about EA listening. Go ahead an hire me EA I will make things better, have almost 20 years of software development experience and an avid gamer, turned a small training company into a multi-million dollar SASS, but really hire me because I want to make Nhl great again!.
Instead of replying with hate, please just change my mind with logic!
I understand why you would remove position lock in hut, but unfortunately draft champions is part of hut. I play that mode exclusively in co-op mode against AI with a buddy. If it’s not part of a ranking system why would it be disabled for that mode as well?!?! Ever try playing two player co-op without position lock? It’s a fluster-cuck. And sadly, season mode can’t be played in co-op - Also a failed opportunity in my opinion. Playing against AI, PvsE if you will, is something he and I both enjoy.
