Dressing Room Error - PS4

Replies

  • @EA_Roger thank you for an update!

Yes the reason why DMZ can work for somebody, and not for everybody, is that it depends which network device is dropping the idle connections. I'm happy that @DJhamSamich found that it was his home firewall that did it and it works now! In another cases it might be any router or firewall along the path which is dropping the idle connections, so there is nothing you can do.

    PS4 <~~~> HOME FIREWALL <~~~> ISP ROUTER <~~~> ROUTER ... ROUTER <~~~> EA SERVER

And like @haag4 said, Xbox live most probably handles the connections differently.

Yes, it just so happen to be MY problem, and could be other peoples' problem too, but definitely not ALL peoples' problem. those idle TCP connections could be being dropped ANYWHERE along that path. Just worth a shot for people that have the DMZ option.
  • (copied from answers forum) I wrote a little tester for idle connections (this time it should work) for Windows/Mac/Linux.

    https://github.com/iqqmuT/idle-connection-tester/tree/master/build/windows

A virus scanner might complain about the .exe, but if you trust me enough, there is nothing to worry about! :D

It creates a tcp connection, idles given time and checks if the connection is still alive. While it's idling, you can grab a beer and listen to Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive. Some noticed that 5 min idling works but with 6 min idling the connection gets killed. Anyway, if the result is that your connection fails within 30 minutes, your NHL19 most probably has the DRE syndrome.
  • @EARoger amazon will not return my money as it is a digital copy. I am requesting from your team to contact me so I can obtain the refund before I need to elevate this request.

Really I just got off the phone with EA tech support and I was told the following regarding this issue: Dressing Room Error is a known issue but since it is not affecting majority of players nothing is being looked into at the moment. If this does become an issue a patch will be

Well seeing what Rodger said, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I have three other friends that have this issue. I am going to go out on a limb and assume the customer service/tech support is far down the chain of command to receive any sort of information until it is set in stone. If @EA_Roger is providing us updates, let's stick with what he says for now. That is our best resource at the moment. No reason to burn Bridges when the end goal is for us to be able to play a game we enjoy, and for them, their game to be successful.
  • I dont know what to think about this. I guess we will have to wait for another reply on here from EA and then go from there. I sure hope that is not true. I have heard from a few diff sources that they are working on the issue
  • Just trying to make sure communication with their Help Desk is spread throughout their Support Ecosystem. Because if someone gets a statement like that, it could be bad.

However, i've been able to play with restarting the app. I remote into my PS4 between games to grab a drink, bio breaks, do laundry. I've actually gotten alot of stuff done with this error to tell you the truth. Lol. RPlay for IOS is amazing for that. To play.. not so much.

I agree a statement like that could be very bad. Same here with me I just do a internet test and get into every game. I'm going to play through a hole prestige with a restart every game. When they do finally fix it I will have forgotten how a normal game works lol

Umm, so he responds on the 24th to a tweet from the 17th (where the EA Help twitter guy says it’s being investigated) with for all anyone knows could be a made up statement. Plus, the phone tech folks tend to read verbatim from their list of go to help statements and when they can’t answer with one of those they tell people to come here (trust me I’ve seen it enough to know).

Edit: he also replied to a different EA Help tweet on the 14th saying nearly the same thing; not widespread...what a EA tech support guy told me yesterday.

I would take that tweet with a very heavy grain of salt. I can’t believe anyone would think EA is not going to fix this. I just hope it’s soon.

  • In my experience, since launch, at least one person in the lobby gets the dressing room error roughly 2/3 of the time when trying to launch a club or drop-in game. 3v3, 6v6, doesn't matter. It's even happening in the club playoffs.

You can tell when it's going to happen, because even if everyone readies up, the clock runs down to zero, and the lobby hangs for a while. The background usually turns to black behind the lobby menu. After 30s or so, the people who aren't affected get into the game, the affected parties get a "Dressing Room Error". For a split second before leaving the lobby, you can see the players who got the error get removed from the lobby.

This is obviously widespread. They HAVE to have server logs that they can parse and run queries for errors, disconnects, whatever.

I honestly cannot believe my eyes, that I am seeing (AT THIS STAGE) port forwarding being suggested as a primary troubleshooting step. This is just insanity.

I totally agree with everything you said 100%. That has been my experience with the game as well. For them to say its not widespread is just ridiculous.

I hope this isn’t what we’ve come to but at this point I don’t find this too hard to believe. Since this isn’t effecting everyone, maybe it’s not a top priority for EA.”Not widespread “ part of the response is concerning. That maybe so but the trickle down effect is.. at least on PS4. I have been hopeful for a patch update upcoming but my patience is wearing thin. The fact that this hasn’t been addressed to this point is completely unacceptable and compensation is most definitely required at this point.

Honestly I have never been one to complain about a game until now but I want EA to know how much this has damaged their reputation in my eyes. I have been a supporter for a very long time but honestly I won’t ever look at this organization the same again. Squeezing money out of people to buy your half-made* game 3 days early is an absolute joke and you all should be ashamed of yourselves. EA and Rockstar games are the only ones I play. I wish you all could take notes on how rockstar games goes about their business...

Unfortunately we cannot assist with returns for purchases made outside of Origin. The only party able to refund you is the retailer of whom you've purchased the game. Refund a purchased product basically means that the transaction would have to be reverted, we can only do that on purchases that have been made directly to us. As frustrating as this sounds we can't force a refund on a third party site, we can only do it on our own.

I've tried digging up this player's case but haven't been to find his EA Account as of yet. The agent shouldn't be saying that, I've even double checked the wording they are provided and I honestly don't know where he got this from. If I manage to find it I will make sure he is aware of it.

@ZetterSyukStrom , I'm the EA_Roger on the Answers HQ replying to that thread, not an evil twin ;) Jokes aside, there is loads of amazing information on that thread as well. I've sent that on and to be honest with you a lot of our devs and QA guys are following that thread directly. To give you some further insight one of the QA guys over here even asked to be set up on the Answers HQ forum as soon as this issue popped up to be able to interact with players.

I honestly think that by not "widespread", most people mean that it's on one platform and not both. The fact that it would impact nearly half of the playerbase (if it did) does not make it a low priority. If it was I wouldn't be replying to this thread as often. I made the mistake by saying something similar in the past and apologized for it. I know that you can't see the progress made on this but it doesn't mean we aren't making any or trying to track down this issue.

Update from our dev on this:
    Dressing Room errors:
We have identified the root cause of the error and it was specific to PS4. We are in the midst of testing a work around fix to deploy to the server in hope that the issues are resolved until a proper client fix can be made in an upcoming patch.

Thank you for responding to that. If people think that nothing is being done or it's not being taken seriously it will push people over the edge. Knowing what's going on helps a lot. As long as its not false hope any news is good news
