You never know. Gotta try to keep it positive. I believe it could happen. And if it doesn't happen this time next time it has to. And I'd add more guys to that class of legends from then on. Scott Stevens needs to be in. Mike richter and others. They know this is a problem. And they need to make it happen.

First off, I'm hugely disappointed about this Legends issue. I'm a firm believer that the main reason we have not/might not be seeing Legends in offline modes is because of the weight they carry in online modes...the "reveal parties" as you will. If you're not too familiar with HUT, EA does turn it into a somewhat big deal with releasing new alumni/Legends every week. I can imagine that it may take some of the allure and luster away if all these players were available offline. I could see a lot of players reducing their time online to play more offline if the alumni/Legends were available...just my two cents there. The only reason I play HUT is because I can get access to the alumni/Legends there. Admittedly I do my own little season through the exhibition games on there and track my own stats. I'm able to make some coins with each game I play and then I can save up and purchase more alumnis/Legends that are released. I suppose it's kind of my only option right now as far as alumni/Legends go. What can I say...I'm a nostalgic stats junkie.

On another note, I've read multiple comments of yours on this thread and I want to say thank you for posting the positivity part. It does seem that EA has made some curious and mind-boggling decisions with many things, things not being fixed, things that worked being changed, misrepresentation of the Legends, lack of transparency and communication on certain topics, etc; All of these are plenty of reasons for us customers to be upset/angry/pessimistic. So, again, thank you for posting to encourage people to stay positive. I can imagine you, yourself are disappointed along with the rest of the player base but positivity goes a long way.

In a somewhat unrelated note, to me, the '94 Finals was the best Finals I ever saw. I bring this up seeing as you're a Rangers fan. I was a huge fan of Pavel Bure and an even bigger fan of Mark Messier. I still consider Mess to be one of the greatest Captains in NHL history. From Adam Graves' 52 goals, Bure's 60, Zubov being the team's leading scorer...Messier's guarantees, "MATTEAU! MATTEAU! MATTEAU!," Richter's penalty shot split save on Bure, and, above all else, watching Messier literally jump up and down like a kid when they won the Cup - a man that had already won multiple Cups - Loved every minute of it. And this is coming from me, a Minnesota boy who witnessed his '91 Cinderella North Stars make the finals (and get demolished) against the Pens.

Just wanted to throw some more positivity around...well, positive nostalgia anyways! Thanks again!
Well thank you for that, and you're right I am very disappointed and frustrated about this whole thing on the legends.
This is a very good game in my opinion, however there has been a major case of misleading and misrepresentation as far as the legends are concerned. If you have players in their team jerseys with their offline overall ratings then they should be made available. Now this is the first year that they've done anything like this before and I understand that. But it's not fair to us that we don't know what's going on. Look at my other posts not just on this topic but on others as well that I say that it's only fair to us to let us know.

They have really outdone their selves with the gameplay and I'm very happy with it. I think that they've done a wonderful job. But there is big time accountability here about misrepresenting and misleading a product, especially a very good one.

I do think though we could have the possibility of a patch that will allow us to play with them in offline when December comes next week. We didn't get one in the month of November. I've been talking to a developer who has told me that the modes team knows that we are complaining and really want this, and I've told him that we were really counting on this to happen. So I think we will get them by next month. And they will put them in. And if it's not by the holidays then it should be by next game. They know about this.

And as a ranger fan let me tell you this. After the horrible season we had last year and I'm not making this up and it's no joke, the team and Madison square garden had sent out an email of apology to the season ticket holders about how bad the season was. My dad is the one who has the tickets so he got the email. If they don't have the legends in by the end of the season then I do believe that there should be an apology to us for misleading us and misrepresenting us the legends about how much access we would have to them. If they know and have heard about our complaint about us wanting to use them in season and franchise mode thenim sure they're doubling down on it as fast as they can. They never advertised the digital six jerseys to us and just put them in. So I'm pretty positive they'll have them ready either by or before Christmas. And if not this year then by NHL 20. They have to. They know how much this was screwed up and if not then they will. I don't play hut and a lot of people like me only play offline so they will have to do this.

That's my take on it. And imagine if they had over 275 legends, what the number will be next game? I mean they didn't have Mike Richter and Scott Stevens. There are a lot of major names they left out. But as I've said I'm positive they will fix this, they have to. But the need to be accountable about it.

Just know if the modes team is aware about it they will make it happen. Just keep making noise about it and people will listen. They sure are as far as what I've heard from the developer I've been talking to.

I mean by Christmas how much of a gift it will be to have those guys made available to us in offline

    Great post.

I actually wouldn't have a problem with the legends only being available online EA clearly had stated that during the summer. When I first heard the news I just assumed they would only be available online and didn't think more about it. But then I saw the videos and pics of the legends in their actual NHL uniforms with Gretzky lifting the cup as an Oiler and I took that as conclusive evidence that they could actually be available offline in season mode and franchise mode, since as far as I know, you can't win the stanley cup online. So I went to pre order my first NHL game for current gen. I wasn't gonna buy one until roster sharing and custom music returns but these legends made me change my mind.

If EA would have clearly stated in which modes they would be available and hadn't showed them off in NHL uniforms I would be okay with it. But this level of false advertising annoys me deeply. I pre ordered the game based solely on the legends. I never play online and never will and having the legends on some made upp all star teams with ugly uniforms in a generic arena just doesn't do it for me.

Secondly, I understand EA wants to make money on the legends. But why isn't there atleast the option for us offline players to buy the legends to our roster? Or release a legends edition of the game for the double price. Something.

Thirdly, it really annoys me that EA is completely silent about this and has been for two months. People have been asking about this now everyday on their official forums for more than 2 months and they haven't said a word. Devs are in here posting in other threads but not on this issue. And I don't count that legends guide someone linked the other day.

All of this could have been avoided if it wasn't for EA's blatant false advertising during the summer. That was a new low for EA and they should feel ashamed.

Having said that, I still like the game and I started to create some legends on my own for fun and have now done 200 players from the 80's and 90's as well as several classic jerseys/teams. I managed to get many players looking pretty accurate in terms of face, hairstyle, equipment. The more players i create the more fun the game is to play so I am aiming for another 200 to have full classic rosters for every team. It's fun that you mentioned the '94 stanley cup finals as I am currently working on creating those teams and do a replay of the final in the game. I will post it on youtube once I'm done. If only roster sharing was possible I could share the roster with anyone who wanted it. But unfortunately it's forbidden.

You are correct on every level here. I'm one of those people who have played every version of NHL since SEGA's 1st game came out in '91-'92 and have never looked back. As I type this I have my old SEGA with every game cartridge sitting in a draw right next to it about 10 feet away from me ha ha!!!! I'm a huge offline player (mainly franchise) and I, too, was looking so forward to these Legends being available offline. I can only appreciate you sharing the info you received from the EA Dev you've been communicating with...it gives me hope, so thanks! And accountability is something EA needs to face and acknowledge if they want to keep a decent sized player base intact. Crossing my fingers that the Legends are available soon!

Wow, it sounds like you put in a lot of time to create these players...I have much respect for that as I'm the same way. I've only produced around 40 so far. I smile at even the thought of having roster sharing as an option...I Love how MLB The Show does it...I had a blast solely because of this!

If at all possible, please post the link to your Youtube video once you are all set, I'd be very interested to see the finished product!

As far as sharing what you put together, I'd go as far as to send you a flash drive and pay you for your time to copy your rosters onto it for me! Ha ha! I know that's a stretch but that's how much I want these Legends available to use.

    Good luck with your rosters!

Sure, I have done a couple of videos of my roster already, here:
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjl6tWzzyHbN1SqkFUAwnAA

'94 cup final video is coming next.

Unfortunately roster files are locked to user so even if I send you a copy it wouldn't work on your console. They really went all the way to prevent people from sharing rosters...Otherwise I would've loved to share it. I understand you, I too would pay a lot of money to have a modern NHL game with classic rosters. If EA said we can buy the legends for offline modes I would do it in a heartbeat, even if it was hundreds of dollars.

But yeah, hopefully EA will make the legends available at some point. It does take a lot of time to create all the players yourself, especially when you want every single player to look as accurate as possible.

Atleast my videos might inspire some people who also are disappointed with not being able to use the legends offline to create their own. I was inspired myself by this post from 2017: https://forums.ea.com/en/discussion/94720/nhl-1990s-the-ultimate-edition

Well brother if you make enough noise, someone will listen. And they are listening. Unfortunately I didn't play those games because I wasn't born at that time. I'm 25 years old. But I'm a nostalgic so I get it a little bit. So I think that they will be available by Christmas. It makes sense in a way because they've been listening and have acknowledged that people want them in roster/player moves for offline franchise and season mode. And if not now then next game. I believe like a lot of people they really messed this up and owe us an apology for that. But I think that aside from the major screw up, this was they have ever done something like this. Keep that in mind. And 200 legends and alumni is a big deal. Can you imagine what the number will be next year? I mean first off because I am such a fan of the physical game I would hope Scott Stevens is in next years class of legends. And a great ranger goalie in Mike Richter among many legends that I feel were missing.

By the way take a look at my other topics and tell me what you think on them when you have the chance to do so.

Anyway I'd like to think that there is a positive to this. This is opening a door to us fans in offline to be creative in the future with our teams and the seasons we will play with them. I'd like to think of this as sort of an art, wouldn't you?

I just went over a bunch of your other posts. I have to say you have some very unique and creative ideas, all very good...ideas that could draw newer types of fans to this game in the process of developing them. I hope EA gives you some feedback if they haven't already. It's pretty clear your main goal here is to make this (NHL series) the best it can be and EA would be smart to reach out to you and more people like you. Kudos to you for that. Keep the ideas coming, they're awesome!

And I couldn't agree more, this game enables us to be very artistic with a lot of its features...I can only imagine how much more we could do if some of your ideas are brought to life. Spot on!

Spot on!

Oh I have passed these ideas on to the developer I've been talking to. He says he always passes on ideas so I'm pretty hopeful for it. He likes them.
  • EA should count their lucky stars this isn't a huge ordeal like FO 76 or something. No other dev would get away with this. EA is utterly pathetic that it's almost 3 months and still they haven't bothered to fix a huge selling point for a new title. Absolute trash company.

So now they tell this officially on Facebook with these amazing instructions. So the base line is: "Shut up, you got scammed. Deal with it and if you want to play these legends better start to waste your money on HUT."

Where's my Wayne with Lord Stanley?

Heh. You bought this game for the Legends that you will likely never get.

I bought this game for the different gameplay that 19 offered in EASHL, but it got tuned into NHL 18.

So you basically never got what was promised to you, they removed what I liked and what made me buy the game.

Is it just me, or did we pretty much all buy the game for things that were advertised, yet are not there, or no longer there??? Can say that's how I feel.

Don't worry, we'll get them. Again keep in mind that they have never done anything like this in terms of this deal with the alumni association. I honestly believe they will be available by Christmas. It makes sense.

I mean it makes sense to me. They didn't have a November patch and the modes team is aware that there are fans like you and I who want them in offline. I'd like to think they're trying to get it done as fast as they can for December and or Christmas.

Skating is still improved over '18 but yes, WOW factor left within a week or so.
The legends issue is a CLEAR BUST, not that typical of EA Sports to say "Legends in all modes" to "Working on an update" to NO WORD ON UPDATE AT ALL.

the reverse tuning is the same problem across all titles, even 2K has this issue. Its the legends still not available in all modes as promised at released that give EA a new low
