Nerf the hell out of stick lift

So now no talent hacks can spam stick lift and never get a penalty. Seriously, its impossible to even play any semblance of a hockey game. It's just stick lift constantly throughout the game, there is no skill involved just pound stick lift. It is 10 times worse than poke checking at the end of 18. In normal hockey you stick lift sparingly, the poke check is dialed back now to a point where merely thinking about hitting it results in a penalty. While I do agree dialing it back was necessary somewhere between where it is now and then should suffice. Now it's an overreaction and stick lifting constantly is killing the game. I can do it too but what's the point of stick lifting the whole game. Its NHL 19, not stick lift 19. Again, there is a need for both but on one side its overly nerfed and on the other it's just pound stick lift constantly or lose.

  • I just had a game where my stick was knocked out my hands. My player grabs his face so I figure penalty coming. No call. He then scores.
  • Everyone is playing like that, in hut my computer player had his stick knocked out as the puck was coming to him..no call. Every game now is just spam stick lift.
  • It’s alao possible to stick lift behind the play and knock someone’s stick out of their hands. No penalty
  • So just for the record I said after a couple games of beta that not too too long after release people would be complaining about this. I played my first vs game against a master of lift stick spam and it was horribly painful and unfun. Needless to say it was my last vs. game lol
  • Stick lift's do need to be looked at, that's for sure.
You must unlearn what you have learned!
  • There’s not enough penalty for using stick lifts. You can rub a guy out on the boards (which is very cool and new, I love it!) but then he can stick lift from behind and worst-case he misses, best case he lifts me through my body from behind and has now created a nice offensive chance off a turnover I wasn’t expecting considering he was completely behind me.

I like that they work from in-front well, but like 18s pokechecking, they need some balance.

A predictable outcome since they nerfed poke check. If you take away the main defensive tool people will go to the next tool "stick lift".

In years past stick lift was deemed the penalty button, you were sure to get a penalty if you used it, now it's the other way around, stick lift never gets a penalty and poke check is an automatic penalty.

Everybody was so overly concerned with the pokecheck during the beta so the sticklift spam concerns, while warranted, were buried under a mountain of complaints about pokechecking.

I said in a different thread about this topic, now that the poke checking dust is settling, more attention is finally being drawn to sticklifts. We, as a community, need to start gathering video to show to devs. I know it’s blatantly obvious most games, but video is always best, I have a few clips saved, but i need to free time at home to go through it all

It's a simple fix, only poke checks and stick lifts "from out of position" should = penalty.

If you are in good position you should be rewarded with the ability to poke and lift at will to disrupt.

The AI is particularly adept at stick lifting.

And don't even get me started on players spamming stick lift from behind and cleanly winning back the puck.

A/X button is the new RB/R1... And is it me or are boarding penalties out of control?

Kurtz is the best player in EASHL...hands down.
First ballot hall of famer for sure.
It’s like the guy is taking performance enhancing drugs.
    He needs to be tested.

I want to believe that no one AI is better than the other, but the difference between Kurtz and Seros is absolutely night and day. Hall of famer vs AHL'r. I would love to see the AI player stats.

Poke check isn't an auto penalty lol. You're doing it wrong if you feel it is.

You are taking it too literal, auto penalty isn't meant to be taken as every single time it's used it a penalty, the point is (and verified by the community by their arguments on poke checking thus far) is that it results in tripping penalties very very often, to the point people are afraid to use it.

Everyone is guilty of a poorly times poke check, sure those should be penalties, but to get tripping penalties while in good position is ridiculous.

    100% correct.
I’ve never felt cheated when I poke correctly...when I do a bad one...I’m in the box ...angry at myself for making a poor decision.

The problem with this idea currently, is that when the stick lift battle begins, it becomes who can press "A" faster and normally its a A,A,A,A back and forth battle.

    Nothing wrong with it.
  • I don't really mind that the stick lift function is more useful now. Or even that you can "spam" it. But the fact that's it's basically an automatic "win the puck" from any position button does kinda trigger me.

The worst is when you have your back to the defender and he'll spam stick lift and the puck just magically comes back to his stick. Even though you were skating away from him. Same with bumps from behind. Puck magically goes backwards.

    EA Physics... OY!!!

i think if you spam stick lift it should get less and less accurate with more chance at getting a penalty. I see a lot of consequences for poking but no enough from stick lift. The game went from an RB smash fest last year to and A smash fest this year.
