Is it me or team strategies defensively don’t work?

I have tried as a test, to collapse protect net to start off the game and switch the next period to tight point and high pressure. No difference at all. Players are scattered and unaware of their responsibility majority of the time and can’t think sensibly or logically. especially with front of net coverage. Shouldn’t there be drastic differences between both ends of the spectrum with own zone coverages?

I see way better man to man coverage in front of the net against one timers with protect the net than ”normal” on collapsing. I haven’t had the Ds run behind me to the corners leaving net open with that.
