Why can't we just get like a two-week period where we go back to the very first beta tuner? Let people play that for two weeks, and then solicit opinions on whether they liked it better for those two weeks or before and after. I get that you guys don't want to make quick changes, and you want to test things out. How about testing out the old beta tuner, and seeing how people like it? I get that you say you only made small changes, but they seem to be adding up into a different game, and not in a good way. Can we not just do the beta tuner for 2 weeks, and see how people react?
i was playing someone in versus and they scored on me with 12 minutes left in the 3rd. For the remainder of the game he went into the 1-4 and ragged the puck in his own end. I hit 2 posts but couldn't get one past the goalie during the last 12 minutes. He was the Capitals and I was the Jets.
So out of curiosity I wanted to try the same thing. This time it was me as the Rangers vs the Canadiens. I got a lead 6 minutes into the first and ragged the puck in my own end for the rest of the game to see how OP it was. Well I was quite surprised, he ended up with 36:00 Penalty minutes after 2 periods and 52:00 Penalty minutes 19 minutes into the 3rd and rage quit. He also had 2 game misconducts, one in the 2nd and one in the 3rd. .
Give what I just did a try, but only do it once. I really made that guy angry at me and I feel bad but I had to test it. He also rage quit with 58 seconds left.

Think puck ragging isn't OP? Give what I just did a try, but only do it once. I really made that guy angry at me and I feel bad but I had to test it. It's shockingly OP and easily abused.

Like I said before this game has become who can rag the best and who can cheese the best, the Devs can say this they can say that ,this game isn't the same as the beta and certainly not what I paid for

Yup, no doubt. I was shocked when I ragged the puck in my own end how easy it was to keep control. I would lose it every now and then but get it right back. He struggled to get it the whole game and took penalty after penalty. After he rage quit he messaged me and called me every name under the sun and I can't blame him after just having that same feeling the game before.

Ragging has been a problem for a while and after all the changes EA made it's more prevalent now more than ever in my opinion
Tripping maybe, but why does he go down like the left leg is why? He clearly never had the puck until my stick and his right skate touch it at the same time.
2 questions on the checking from behind complaints and changes.
Were people complaining because they COULD be nudged from behind, or because when nudged from behind the animation made you throw the puck backwards at the checker? A brief loss of skater control makes sense to me but what infuriated me was throwing the puck against me and the defenders momentum for a turnover.
Also were the complaints for humans hitting from behind or were they based on the AI defenders, who play simultaneously as if they are the strongest and fastest players on the ice?
I'm not sure which parts of which changes I specifically hate. I play all skater positions in eashl so I want to see competitive balance. Before the changes (I played beta/trial/early/release versions) I saw that balance and loved it. One man shows were going to get beat by teamwork and on both sides of the ice it felt like the outcome of a situation had a correlation to the quality of the decisions that led to it. In the games current state it feels clearly unbalanced and as though there is no correlation between results and quality of decisions. I think that is the crux of all the "outrage" from those of us who are currently upset.
2 worst things this tuner has done to gameplay imop.
1) It makes keeping possession of the puck too easy, you can rag it all day and not lose it. So It discourages team play. Before the new tuners you had to pass the puck or you would lose it and never score. It's s too hard to bump a player off the puck that knows what they are doing.
2) Goals: Goals use to be harder to score. There we no go to moves like the curl around on the boards and cheese it short side, works 9/10 times.
Before the new tuners you actually felt like you made a good play and earned a goal, now you just keep doing the same thing over and over knowing it will go in almost every time. Almost every goal I score now is short side because it's so easy to do.

Hey, remember when Phil Kessel ragged the puck in the corner for 7 minutes and then sniped it short side?
Remember when the Capitals scored 5 short side goals in the exact same spot with no screen infront? Unreal to think John Gibson could play that bad.
Remember when the Jets scored a goal in the 3rd period to take the lead and ragged the puck in their own zone for 12 straight minutes? Crazy to think a NHL team would even attempt that and win the game!

I think this is pretty spot-on. Too many times after we give up a goal the first words out of somebody's mouth is "what else can I do there?".
Like in this case. My teammate on defense has good position to defend the pass but makes the "mistake" of trying to square up in the passing lane. He's punished with an animation that lifts his stick so high that at first blush I thought he was sticklifted. Are we to believe that player's can't pivot and keep their stick under control?

For the record, holding your stick to the side of your body in an unrealistic manner should not be an effective way to "protect the puck" in this game. I'm not sure why the actual protect the puck feature with A/X was even implemented into the controls as it hardly ever serves as an effective way to protect the puck to begin with. This went from the best game in the last decade to the worst/equivalent to the worst (NHL 18) in a matter of 2 months. I can't fathom where the disconnect is between EA and its NHL base lies but I'd take getting bumped off the puck from behind as opposed to this arcade cheese-fest any day of the week. Keep up the great work!!!!!
Holding the puck out of reach of your opponent due to incidental stick on stick, stick on body and pokechecks is a smart thing to do. You are limiting yourself to gliding though. Protect puck less you move your feet and continue to drive in, so it depends on the scenario.
If you are gliding you are in more control and balance than when skating but if you roll the puck back to move your center of mass more behind you, you are actually at less balance so we do take that into account.
You take it into account, but the result isn't realistic. It really does negate body checks and it is literally what everyone does the second they touch the puck, and the second anyone comes near them. I cannot understand how a player pulls his stick back behind him, leaning all the way to his left, then you come in and smack him from the right side, yet you bounce off and not even the puck comes loose.... Very aggravating for the defensive side of the game.

Not only what you listed above, which I agree with btw, but in EASHL you are starting to see many D men who play as forwards because D simply isn't rewarding or fun anymore. Or D men run Enforcers and just want to hit of fight all game long.
Goalies are rage quitting after 1, or sometimes, only 2 goals. The position is already extremely hard to play with the incredibly clunky skating that now they also have to deal with forwards who can't be knocked off the puck for the most part.
Tuner 1.03 really killed team play and it has once again, as the past many years, made forwards as the only rewarding (and fun, maybe) position to play.

These things are really crappy and suck the fun out of the game, but these things you list are really not the fault of the game. It's the community. The people who play this game will do anything to win such as; scoring the same goals over and over and puck ragging.
I'm not quite sure how the game is supposed to discourage this type of behavior?

By reverting to the previous tuner. The puck ragging was not even comparable prior to tuner 1.03, imo.

You can still skate around in your own zone and play keep away, regardless of the tuner.
