Can we get a new tuner
This one is non enjoyable ib clubs.
The games are just a trap fest and people are collapsing with 5 man in the slot. The seemless puck pickup does a lot of defense for them.
The poke check when pressed by the defender before the reception of pass by thar attacker gives you a free turnover because the puck carrier can’t be tripped because of immunity.
With th collapse so so strong the shots from point are being blocked before deflection giving breakaways.
Hit boxes have been diminished based on your hitting stats,
The game is stale. While the nhl the game this year is based on speed and scoring the eashl is back to the 2000 lemaire brodeur devils trap era.

I would be interested in hearing about what EA devs think where the game is currently at, and where they want to take it with tuners? Because I think they're going the wrong way right now...
I'd be willing to bet that most people in the "OP defence" camp are playing 6s club games or HUT/VS where there are more bodies clogging up the ice. In EASHL 3s offence definitely has a major advantage.
I'm starting to think that for EASHL we need different tuners for 6s and 3s. With so much open ice in 3s defence needs to be better rewarded for the times they do get a body on the man with the puck or clog up the passing lane.
In 6s there's enough bodies to counter these problems but right now 3s is just people rolling off hits in the corners and successfuly forcing passes through multiple bodies.
Oh, and goalies need to be better against the short side shot regardless of the game mode.
Not really seeing anyone loving the latest tuners tbh.
Defending the rush defense has few tools, so defense is bad in this case, you poke its a trip, you let the skater close the gap you miss a body check or slash with stick lift, you back off and stay between skater and goal and he rips a wrister from the high slot for a goal.
on the flip side, if the entire defense is back in position, trapping and collapsing in the zone, defense if very powerful, no space on ice to skate, passes get intercepted, no clean shooting lanes, etc.
The answer is both.
I'm another thread "the optimism faded one" they seem content on the direction of the tuners. So it doesn't matter what direction you, or reddit, or YouTube, or Facebook, or this forum think it's going in. They're happy with it.
All of the games I've played since tuner lack creativity, same old short side cheese over and over,
We need a new tuner, the 1.0 tuner.
Oddly enough, I think this is more true than any of us realize. Newcomers and casuals would absolutely be turned off by these types of players, and furthermore, it doesn't use or teach hockey skills.
If this game relied on team play, like it did prior to 1.03 then one has to assume newcomers and casuals would appreciate it more. In many ways, you would have to incorporate them into the puck cycling.
If I were a newcomer and didn't know much about hockey, I would probably let this game die within the first week I got it. Play D ? Get ignored on the play as hogging is more succesful. Play G? Get destroyed as hoggers humiliate your D and go straight for the net. Play Forward? You're not used to cheesing and try to cycle the play. Your forwards get angry and bail on you. Soon after, the G and 1 D bails too.
EA has always catered to the one-man show with these games. In their view pushing a power fantasy is more marketable than encouraging team play.
They've never shied away from that stance. Heck, the NHL 18 trailer mocked the idea of hockey fundamentals as being "not fun".
So they cater to a crowd looking for an ego trip and get a toxic community as a result. Who could have seen that coming?
Kinda funny because that’s 100% the opposite of everyone I’ve ever played with.. including rando stick and puck at the neighborhood rink.
Using your speed, thinking fast and make good quick passes was very, very important before 1.03. Now it doesn't even matter, you can just rag the puck and wait for the other player to get frustrated because he can't knock you off the puck. Before 1.03 you had to use your whole team because passing lanes were closed quick and getting bumped off the puck was actually a threat.
I Remember playing the beta and thinking, wow they finally did it, they got rid of ragging and cheese goals. It was the best thing ever, never did I actually think they would go backwards. It honestly makes no sense at all.
(Of course..technically that must work with solid passing to be effective)
We also need something to know what precise mode people are talking about when they are ranting. 6s are not 3s... And so on.
Well said and explained
We don't want puck ragging, cheese goals and slow hockey. We already have NHL 18 for that and the whole reason a lot of us bought NHL 19 is because that was not in the game. It was fast and lots of big hits,
I Played about 10 vs games and a few hut today and what I picked up on is people are mainly shooting short side even on 2 on 1's.
So I can now say there is not enough bread in the world to go with the amount of cheese in NHL 19.....
The only way to counter this, don’t chase him around and get out of position. He will get frustrated soon enough and do something stupid.
Yeah, if you don't switch players and play the position of the player you have selected most times it ends up turning into nothing, I just think ragging is bull. Also some players/new players don't know how to counter it and get po'ed, which isn't exactly good for the game or community. I'd rather it not be in game.
Once again well said .. game infomer as a nice article about what's going on with 19 if your interested in reading it
I swear before a few of these crap tuners came out, short side snipes were VERY hard to get. Now you don't even have to pass anymore. I play 3s a lot since I cant get a full game of 6 and 2 v 1s against good players as a Dmen are crap because they will always go for that short side if you play the pass.
This. If you're defending a 2v1 in EASHL 3s, especially if the puck carrier is on his off wing you need to do the exact opposite of what every defenseman is taught about defending a 2v1. The short-side shot is so effective that instead of taking away the pass and letting the goalie focus on the shot you have to take the shooter and hope he either screws up the pass or is so focused on his shot he doesn't see you coming.
