That’s the problem....thanks to money goals people don’t play hockey they play for the cheese. It’s the hash mark shoot high corner money goal, the weak backhand short side money goal, or rag the puck because all defense has been nerfed until the AI defender inexplicably skates away from the man camped in front of the net for the easy one timer. That’s offense in online play summed up. Before the EA defenders say play better defense and learn how to defend the cheese....that’s not the point...the point is it delivers a garbage experience because instead of playing hockey you play a game of who out cheeses the other.
yup, they should just call it Cheese 19. If it's not the shooting from the hash marks, I keep having people scoring cross crease on me, regardless if i have someone blocking the pass, or poke checking the passer-
On a positive note, the point-to-point one timer isn't working much anymore. I've had A LOT of guys lately using that without scoring much.
Quick note, Rammer said in an interview a few years ago that his goal was to eliminate the automatic goals.. I guess the Gamechangers were able to change his mind?
I've not experienced this since the last update - I'm not a high level player but my last 5 goals in comp seasons came from one slap shot from the blue line, one deflection in front of the net from the same, one breakaway 5 hole shot, one one-timer from the high slot in a two on one breakaway, and one cheese goal as you describe it when the oppo was too busy trying to trip or slash my right winger and let him into that position in the slot so I took the hight shot. A few other times looking at replays the same player had pretty much the same position the goalie saved it.
I don't have the skill to skate around the net constantly waiting for the open 1-T so I have to find other ways to score. Perhaps life is more fun in the lower divisions.
Well I think it's pretty same in D5... I just quit a game after one period because I was simply bored of the guy trying the same shot from the circle all the time. He finally got a goal from the point with a onetimer that was all fine. But in the break between first and second I realized I was just bored and wanted to play some realistic hockey, so I just quit the game thinking I've got better things to spend my time on. Is there so few people actually enjoying a great game of realistic hockey and try to set up games? I know all about the crap goals, but rather try to play it real. The joy of getting some sim-style moments in the game is bigger than chasing cheap goals I think... Another thing that hit my mind is how come a lot of finish players got stacked teams? Do you guys spend your whole salarys on packs? If you team up against a finish guy you can bet that most of the time they've got all the best players to find in the game in their team. Haha.

Finn here, have spent about 60€ so far, and my best pull is from TOTW1, pulled Carter which sold for 60k.
I have over 2m in players and coins combined, all from playing and trading. Mostly trading.

My next question then. Do you have a life besides playing the game? I don't understand how some people have time to do all the grinding. The only luck I've had with trading been with the Christmas cards that I've bought and then sold for more. What is the secret? Haha

Hehe, sarcasm noted.
I have work, wife and two kids. The thing is, people think trading needs sitting infront of TV for multiple hours. Ofcourse you can do it the hard way and flip cards for small profit for hours, but more important is to acknowledge how the market works.
The market in NHL is very small, so it is super straight forward aswell. My style is to buy cards in the last day when they are in packs, and sell them later for bigger profits. Sometimes it works wonders, sometimes you have to hold the cards longer in order to get the profit.
Also knowing what cards are desired and which still have air in their price in the last day helps. That is the hard part. That is why some people struggle with trading.
Doing the MSP player sets and selling them for more than what you paid for collectibles is good way aswell. You can quite easily get 20k profit from them, but in some cases it is a lot more.
Yesterday I bought Kucherov collectibles for under 25k piece. Sold Kucherov overnight for 450k. That is atleast 52k pure profit right there. I also remember making 150k profit with MSP Byfuglien, but that was mainly because I pulled untradeable Zadorov from reroll and he was worth 65k at the time.
Also now that those re-released legends are in packs, they might have some trading potential come next weekend, but we will see later.
Cmon I play a lot of hut and this is getting so boring. Short side Wrister needs to be fixed. That’s all anyone is doing anymore.
I was ready to Gronkowski earthquake slam a controller earlier after a few games. it gets exhausting when you constantly have to defend the same shot attempt 30-40x a game, but you get the occasional game that you're able to defend it well and turn the tides and return the favor. I'd rather score a couple dirty rebound goals then sit there over and over trying those slot wristers repetitively.

That aside, if you get matched up with a guy who plays actual oldskool hockey, the game can be great!
