I have not read through all posts so apologies if I restate somebody else's thoughts. Sorry for the long read.
Non-gameplay things...
1- Bring back EASHL stats in game. Old gen used to show a players stats. Why not do it now? The stats are in the DB. Just show them. Separate types Ex: 3's drop/3s club/6s drop/6s club. Not a huge thing but I can't imagine it would be too much work. They already celebrate milestones so why not take the next step.
2- Bring back ability to stick with your whole team (not just party) in a drop in after a game. Not sure why this was removed
3- Add an API for leagues to use to get stats, scores, real-time updates...even create game lobbies for league games. Any extra integration for 3rd parties would be great. I see a use outside the e-sports and league world as well. Maybe somebody could make a stats site accessible online.
4- Add advanced stats because...why not
5- Allow drop in lobby to pick outdoor or indoor rink. Some people love the gear and outdoor rink, some don't. Let us pick once in a lobby. This might cause some lobby quitters but I have a feeling it won't happen that often. Good middle ground to the nhl 19 clown gear debate.
6- Add an open all to the bags. I have 36 bags unopened. Not because I don't care, because I didn't open then for too long and at some point didn't want to take the time to open them.
Gameplay things...
1- More customization to classes and/or new better attribute system. Maybe a mix of both. Classes for competitive tournaments and leagues. Attributes/classes for the rest? This one is and always will be controversial. I disliked the flaws of the old system but I refuse to admit there exists no attribute system that is less exploitable or is easily adapted when exploits/bugs are found.
2- Work on the AI. Less powerful defensive chasing, hitting, pass interceptions (when not looking) and increase hockey IQ somehow without making them Gods.
3- Work on goalie positioning, reading plays and angles. I have had an in-depth discussion with a dev in a thread this year and I feel that the goalies situational awareness could be improved which would in turn reduce the short side exploits from too far out. Quick example, on a 1 on 1 with no pass option, goalie should be way out to cut down angle increasing the chance of the puck hitting him. Less net to look at.
4- Unsure how to do this but I find 6s lack flow this year. With the increase to effectiveness of DSS, stick lifts and pokes (if you know how without taking penalty), pass interceptions, bumps and knowing how to use your bubble it makes 6s games between 2 good teams on the dull side IMO. Maybe I am not good enough but I find most games revert to a few wigglers overusing LT/L1 to make space, players that continue to circle until they can attempt short side wristers, shooting from everywhere hoping for a rebound. Of course there are ways to combat these players and win games but IMO it makes for a boring game.
5- On a similar topic as #4. Give better tools for skilled players to open space without the use of LT/L1. Unsure how to balance offence/defense but that is not my job I just know it happens way too often now. Just watch the e-sports NHL team tournaments that have been going on. Pirouettes all over the place.
6- Remove the auto penalty shot in 3's. I know people don't want AI to jump in so how about 3 on 2 for 1 minute, then 3 on 1. If another penalty happens then sure penalty shot. Makes the game less about penalty shots and exploits (because we all know what decent shooters will do on the penalty shot if they need to score) and more about team play and making plays. There have to be a better way.

Sorry if this was already requested elsewhere in the thread... but I'd love to see a purely offline HUT style mode.
I love the progression and fun of building a team up, collecting rare players and uniforms, etc. But I'd love to do that at my own pace and without needing to play competitively against other players or do insanely difficult challenges to progress.
Updated GM Connected for versus only. Lock the teams to one user only. 6s already have dozens of leagues. Us versus players need our own again.
Also allow searching by number of users in a league so we can find active leagues to join. Delete unused leagues after 2 weeks of complete inactivity to clear server space - if no one logs in for two full weeks, delete it.

I think the team should go to team practices and have mobile equipment that allows them to scan teams while they’re in Vancouver. They could also have the teams stop by EA and get scanned but that seems like what they’re doing now and it’s terrible. Mike Smith looks god awful and isn’t even close. Fifa puts more effort into one team than NHL puts into their entire game. I’m hoping if NBA gets canned that they move those artists and devs to the NHL team to boost this game.
The big thing for me in the next game would be the goalies. I don't program video games or AI so I'm not even sure this is possible.
The big thing is the goalies are too aggressive out of their crease all the time. There needs to be a system in which the goalie can read, (depending on his ratings) if the player with the puck shoots, passes or dekes. Far too often the goalie is just too aggressive out of the crease which leads to backhand forehand backhand goals going in every time on breakaways. As well as players cutting inside and shooting short side. The lateral movement outside the crease pushes the goalie too far over.
In short, if the devs can put in a system where the goalie reads the players positioning and guesses a certain way like shot or deke. It will force the player with the puck to read the goalie and act accordingly to the situation and player ratings. This means he doesn't all ways need to challenge the shooter out of his crease every time. I have no problem with breakaways always going in as long as the shooter reads the goalie correctly.
This can also affect the breakaway rating on a goalie. So a 99 breakaways goalie would basically give the shooter nothing to read, yet a 75-80 breakaway rating goalie will be easier to read giving up an opening.
Just and extra thought. Pulling the aggressiveness out of the goalies position can eliminate the warp faster than the speed of light saves because they won't be out of position as much. I'd love to see a ton more goalie animations added as it seems like we only have 5-6 animations per shot location.
I more or less onlyplay "Be a Pro" and see a great potetial for the game mode if the following things are implemented, right now it gets boring after just 2-3 seasons…. At least it got a bit better with the "skill tree".
1. Be able to start your career in other Leagues as in the Swedish hockey League, KHL, SM-Liiga or others, instead of Always in the CHL.
2. The possibility of getting selected by your national team to play in "World cup of hockey".
3. Being able to play the all-star game.
4. Winter Classic game.
5. Cinematics when you get drafted, change club and when you get an Award.
6. Statistics so that you can see your goal, assist and point total from the NHL.
7. A top list where you can see the records of the NHL, when it comes to goals, assists, points and games. I mean it would be fun to see how far you are in becoming for example the greatest goal-scorer ever in the NHL.
These things would make the mode EPIC!! and should not be hard to implement!
-The bumping off the puck is ridiculous. I should not be able to get sneezed on and lose the puck. Physics need to be better here.
-Penalties are inconsistent, One person might get hit from behind into the boards and get a 2 or 5, another person could get hit from behind into the boards and get nothing
-Similar to the last point, i'm sure nothing needs to be said about the poke check/stick lifts.
-The servers. There are way too many DR errors and dropouts
-Penalty kill stamina. While I agree, yes penalty kill would be killing your stamina way more than normal play, I think the rate it goes down and how slow it is to build back up is a little too slow. Since we don't have other lines to keep fresh legs out in EASHL, and stamina is a big factor in EASHL, I think it should be adjusted to lose stamina a little faster than 5v5 play, but lose stamina a little slower than it is now and/or regain it a little quicker. Maybe even make it a perk for the goalie similar to the one that after a kill you get all your stamina back, then it could be a strategic thing where as do you want your stamina to drop slower, build back up a little quicker, or a full bar recharge after the kill.
-Injuries online. These are way too common. As a playmaker class, which I know is a smaller more susceptible class than say a grinder or power forward for example, I seem to get injured once a game. I get injuried are a thing in hockey, but unless your name is Neuvirth, you probably can make it at least a few games without an injury. I do agree with big hits killing stamina though as that does make sense in that aspect.
-The servers. Fix them.
-Drop-ins. I'd like to see some sort of system where you can't run another drop-in for like 20 or 30 minutes if you back out of a drop-in match. It's frustrating joining a drop in match and watching people quit out of the game and before you know it you're playing with or against 4 ai and 2 players. If i wanted to do that I could just play on my console locally with a friend
-Goalie interfence goals called back. I've seen a handful of times where someone might tap the goalie with their big toenail and the goal is called back, or players hit into the goalie and it's called back. Can we get a little consistency here?
-Human goalie reaction/recovery. This one is a huge one for any goalie. Goalies should not be stuck in an animation off a shot that may get deflected. If the user is quick enough to press a stick towards that shot that gets deflected or might have rebounded to the other side of the net and sat there a second, they should be able to do that. By a goalie being locked for a certain shot, that takes away from the users ability of essentially playing the position. If a player has quick reactions and can anticipate something like that, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to make the quick adjustment or recovery/scramble to get to the follow up shot or tipped shot.
-Did I mention fix the servers?
HUT
-It doesn't seem to matter what your rating is for agility or acceleration, anyone with any rating seems to be able to keep up. I've seen plenty of hockey games where an offense player can speed right by a defenseman, especially if they were at a dead stop to begin with, but in HUT somehow, these defenseman match my speed from a dead stop pretty instantly.
-Can we possibly make something regional here? I've been matched up a handful of times against someone from a different region and the connection is awful. Why not make it so east coast plays east coast, west coast west coast, etc. At the very least, maybe there should be a use best game location slider that can be chosen by the person. Games shouldn't be decided off of a bad connection, one way or the other.
-Goalie logic, or lack thereof. Computer goalies no matter who you have can easily be beaten by skating across the slot and shooting the opposite way, the one handed tuck, etc. Something needs to be adjusted here either with the positioning or the logic of the goalies because there shouldn't be 2 or 3 go to moves to score a goal every time.
All of the other game modes don't really matter to me as I don't really play them so I can't really provide any solid feedback.
Since I can't edit my last post, I should clarify on the goalie interference, I meant a player from the other team hitting a player on my team for example into their goalie and it being called interference.
Statistics tracking!!!! It’s pathetic in 19. Players career stats should have: the team they played for not just “NHL or AHL”. All time leaders. You have the legends and alumni so can’t see any legal issues. Ability to see last 10 games stats. 2k does that well so learn off them. There is a lot more things that are needed but stats is any easy fix.

My words in your ears. I said it moretimes here. If I want to trade for a player I need to know his exact history of his statistics by Team name. Also including his Trade history and for whom or what he was traded before. Maybe a short Bio too. Also Cup rings, split stats maybe last 5 or 10 games you wrote. I do not understand why its not possible to open statistics from the calender to review past games. This should be valid to look for all Teams not only for the user Team. There should be also a player moving option during an existing Franchise career that we can move players from Team to Team after they where traded in reality. There is much to do in such cases. Give this game more life, interviews by coaches and players, trade willing informations of Teams, and more. By the way, why we can not hire or fire real coaches ? Why coaches can not have there real name and likeness ? Sorry, your developers are so weak of any new ideas to bring in.
I also wish for Franchise mode: To set your own Salary Cap and to Turn On or Off Scout Salaries or turn Off or On Finances for Arena Ops, Promotions, etc.
#2. High Sticking the puck. There's been a lot of times where the AI knocks the puck out of the air above the shoulders and play goes on, usually when I'm on the PK trying to clear the puck.
#3. Improve goalies' reaction time, lateral movement, and athleticism. Just make them better than a pylon.
#4. When a user controls the goalie (online vs.) and deliberately skates away from the puck on the end boards and into my forechecker up near the blueline, that should be a penalty on the goalie, not the forechecker.
#5. Situational practice. i know you can choose # of offensive and defensive players, and rush, breakout etc... but there's no way of practicing the PP and PK strategies, or starting the practice scenario off of a faceoff. (a faceoff practice outside of the tutorial would be cool too).
#6. Online verses line and strategy editing during intermission. Not sure why this isn't allowed already. Would like to be able to replace an injured player(s) without having to use my only pause.
#7. Bring back Created Plays!
#8. Wouldn't mind having custom background music in menus and offline modes back again.
I'm sure more will come to me, but that's all I got for now.
Bringing the game back to PC and adding an online franchise mode are the only two things I want added for 2020. The online franchise would need some customization of course decided by the league commissioner, especially in the games played per season category as not many leagues will ever finish an 82 game season. Without one or both of these I will stick with NHL 19 for a number of years.
I am going to assume that legends and alumni will never make it to franchise (even though it will never properly be put to bed). So let us create them ourselves. Properly. Add player photos, with ability to create their history and accurate faces. Obviously this would be even better with roster file sharing. I will also add a reminder: Offline players are your base. We all get it... you make money from HUT. But some of us play because we love the game and how we can reenact the game. Not play against someone who utilises the intricacies of the development to score and frustrate. You are losing your base when obvious things mentioned on here are being ignored to add a new hockey bag or something (i wouldn’t know because I don’t play the online stuff).

Just and extra thought. Pulling the aggressiveness out of the goalies position can eliminate the warp faster than the speed of light saves because they won't be out of position as much. I'd love to see a ton more goalie animations added as it seems like we only have 5-6 animations per shot location.
I will also add a reminder:
Offline players are your base.
