UPDATE JANUARY 28: The tuner is now live. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE JANUARY 25: Late last night we caught an issue with one of the tuner changes not working properly and have postponed the release of it. We will provide more details when we get them.

Hey everyone,

First and foremost, thank you everyone for providing feedback regarding the Beta Tuner rollback. We received a significant amount of feedback from the entire community and have taken that feedback in as we work on our next tuner to help make the gameplay better for everyone.

While we have been hard at work collecting and digesting all the feedback from the surveys and written responses, we have also been working on getting the next tuner ready so we can get it in game as soon as possible.

We’re excited to announce that the next tuner update will be coming on January 28th at 02:00 AM PST/05:00 AM EST! The tuner will be built directly off of the feedback we received from the past two weeks. In order for us to do this quickly, you will once again see it as an update to Tuner 1.03 as we are first making the updates to online modes only, just as we did for the rollback. Entering any online experience, you will be asked to redownload that tuner to get the changes for the online modes. These tuner changes are only available for online modes.

We will continue to monitor gameplay with this new foundation and will eventually put up a 1.04 tuner with final tuning that will be able to be used Offline as well.

First and foremost, this new tuner update will use the Beta Tuner (v1.00) as the foundation for gameplay. When going through the feedback, a lot of people preferred the core gameplay aspects of v1.00 especially related to both skating and hitting.

With Tuner v1.00 as the foundation, we will be making the following adjustments to align with feedback we received:
  • AI skaters will not perform defensive actions against active puck carriers
    • The Beta Tuner Rollback allowed this for the first 2-4 frames, which is why people saw the change in the AI
    • Note: the AI will maintain their skating aggression and positioning from the roll back as people preferred it as opposed to the past gameplay tuner
  • AI skaters will not commit penalties in Online VS or HUT
  • Reduced the chance ai skaters will put the puck over the glass for delay of game penalties in World of Chel
  • Added back in the forehand stick lift faceoff win speed increase
  • Added in the fix to the energy regained at the whistle so that we see more realistic rolling of lines
    • Many players commented that they felt they were able to stack their lines to use their top players more frequently, which provided less of a realistic experience.
  • Tuning fixes for AI Goalie logic for when to play the puck out of their net
    • Sometimes goalies were getting a little too aggressive; this will help prevent that
  • Added back in consistency for user goalies to transition to post hug at extreme facing directions
  • Tuned back in the penalty logic changes around trips
  • Tuned back in the pokecheck accuracy improvements
  • Split the difference on the stick lift penalty tuning so it will be between Tuner 1.00 and Tuner 1.03
    • A majority of the community mentioned that while stick lifts were too strong in the Beta Tuner, they were also causing too many penalties in 1.03 which made them less effective. This change should help find the proper balance for them.
  • Added back in puck pickup tuning fixes
  • Tuning out dropped and broken sticks again in online modes
  • Added back in the tuning to increase loose puck deke success
  • Tuned back in the changes to lower goalies’ ability to react to passes as quickly when they aren’t reading pass
  • Tuned back in fix to lower assistance on goalie passes
  • Finally, we split the difference between Tuner 1.00 and Tuner 1.03 on the incidental puck loss distance tuning but keeping the low relative speed hitting tuning from 1.00
    • This will help address the complaints we saw in Tuner 1.03 around players being unable to bump players off the puck at low speeds in the corner, but reduce the amount of incidental contact puck loss that we also saw complaints about from Tuner 1.00

Again, we thank you for your constructive feedback in forums, on Twitter, and in messages. The detailed feedback we saw along with the video clips we received allowed us to understand and address the issues to help make the game better.

We’re excited for you to get your hands on the new update and we look forward to seeing your feedback on it!

Can you please fix EASHL goalie CR? My CR is -96000!

  • Realistic line usage? Most nhl teams only roll 3 lines. With majority the top 2

    This is just blatantly incorrect.
  • Any insights into improving EASHL gameplay in particular? I've submitted this feedback a few times but I really think the player builds in EASHL need to be significantly faster and with better puck control/deking. Is this at all being looked at or are we just going to be stuck with the slow trap style of gameplay forever?
  • Add Chelsea Dagger as the Blackhawks goal song. Why was it taken out?
  • Thank you!!! 😄😄😄😄
  • Can you please fix the dedicated servers in HUT. I know a lot of people are liking it but it makes the game literally unplayable for some including myself.

Need an increase to player ratings (mainly skating) across player builds in EASHL. Players feel too sluggish unless you use a tiny build and even then still slow
  • Nice!!! I think you guys nailed it!!
  • this sounds really good, excited to try it.
  • Thank you this sounds very promising!
  • 1.00 Beta Tuner/Patch

    - Skating was nice for tuner 1.0
    - Pokes were good for tuner 1.0
    - Hitting great for tuner 1.0
    - Shooting (power/accuracy feels better, especially on one timers great if tuner 1.0
    - Pass interceptions pretty good in tuner 1.0
    - Slick lifts better most recent tuner, too much spamming

    Most Recent Tuner/Patch
    - Broken/dropped sticks better most recent tuner (fixed don't exist)
    - Incidental contact much better most recent tuner, terrible in 1.0 (too many times guys sticks, skates and legs too active when not doing anything just being in the way or turning
    - Passing better most recent tuner
(too many missed passes, gotta fixed the knocked down auto animation of sacuer pass interceptions
    - Bumps are much better in most recent tuner (bumps have never been in any nhl and don't happen in real life I don't know why they are a thing) but they are at least better in this tuner than the beta where they were unbearable, especially from behind

    New Additions
    - Still need game speed and Accel increased
    - Passing speed increased
    - One touches more reactive
    - Shooting power and accuracy in increased
    - Hitting power increased a bit
    - Goalies Glove/Blocker saved lowered when on the other side of the net or when sliding the wrong way
    - Builds overalls increased in ESHL

All of your “new additions” except maybe ...one.... are in favor of more offense.
We’re finally getting some balance here.
    No more offensive boosts please.

I'm pretty sure this isn't true - but what we do need to be able to do it adjust the lines in game - move the C from 2nd line to 1st and so on like a coach can do IRL if you have to change your strategies in game. Wishlist for NHL20 probably...
  • Please fix the bumps. Never have bumps in any other nhl..dont nerve it just throw them out. Thank you.

It’s fixed. Check the new tuner notes
  • Good job EA! New tuner sounds very promising.

I couldn't disagree more. If you haven't seen any "bumbs" in real hockey it makes me doubt you've ever actually seen a hockey game.
  • A great effort to find a balance!!! This game will be fun for the rest of the year.
    Cheers to the future!
  • It's 11:30 in the UK - 3:30 PST and no obvious change - nothing to download like there was last time - has it been released yet?

    No new tuner yet.
First slapshot of the night...I broke a stick.
I’m not mad....just patiently waiting lol
