So from what I'm seeing having played 7 or so club games tonight is that in 6 of those 7 games we were connected to an East coast server anyway, even though we had one member from California and two from Texas.
The one game they said their pings dropped substantially to a level the hadn't seen before, and one where my ping (Penn) went from the usual 9 to 12.
The central server should be the suggested server in any lobby. It barely affects the east coast and really helps the west coast players.

Absolutely...when the majority of the players are split between west and east...the central should be the default server...I think it would help us west players tremendously.
I'll double check if we can give a location for the European server or at least an approximation. We did confirm that the first European server was in Ireland so I'm hoping it's not an issue.
I live in Japan southern area. I can’t play this game on HUT (favorite mode) at all my average ping is 75ms. Is there anything EA can do? Since Dedicated servers I have played maybe 10 games and it sucks because this is my favorite game but the lag makes it unbearable to play. Thanks for any info.
@repetius , Stockholm would make sense if I'm being honest as we have studios up there and it would cater to a lot of our Scandinavian player base, I'll double-check though.
@A69goat I know this can be frustrating & that when we moved toward dedicated servers this sort of incident would occur as I have witnessed it across other sports titles with dedicated servers in the past. The reality is that when it comes to servers we need to accommodate our player base where it's the more strongly represented, hence the addition of a 3rd server in NA and a second in EU. We try to accommodate as many players as possible and will take on your feedback, however we may not be able to cater to everyone so I want to set your expectations on this.
As I said earlier this is fantastic news. Played 8 games yesterday and had 4(8)ms for the first 7 games. As the night here in EU got late we couldn't get a game anymore, so we put it on relaxed. Now we thought we would get a game on Ireland, (EU-west), or more prob. America East.
We did not, we got put up against one of the NHL-LG teams on America West, with 90ms and upwards!
So the worst Server available when time was 21.00 Eastern, sound like prime time to me.
My point here is, while we got the server closer to the The demographic center of this games population, the matchmaking still is broken.
How about full control of servers by 5 separate toggles? Lets say its 03.00 in EU again I could toggel on EU-Stockholm Eu-Ireland and America East, while have the last two on off.
Or if I lived in Detroit, I would have West and EU-servers on permanently off.
Also if we have like some a spread of players we decide to play on the middle one as the team above would need.
Dear ea, please continue improve your efforts, the player base is dwindling.
TY for reading.
When you load up the game, imo, the very first choice that a user can make should be choosing which server he wants to connect to. This should happen before any other choice can be made. There are countless games that ask this question, and even show the amount of users and the ping to each server.
Maybe have the choice to choose "relaxed" and the game decides the server for you like it currently does.
Wow this is great news. Not sure what is meant by half ping response time though. EASHL connection is so inconsistent. Some games I feel like im playing offline and the game is running smooth as butter and im flying out there. Other times I feel like a fatman and I can barely turn and position my guy. Ping is almost always the same either way.
I think it means you were only seeing half of the number your ping was. For example, if you were seeing a ping of 30, you should have been seeing a ping of 60. Just as an example.
Busy couple days so only got two games in today. Mid Atlantic east coast.
I was just waking up, so grain of salt, but it was great. The game was actually noticeably quicker. My guy, more responsive.. looking forward to tomorrow.
All Comments pertain to 6v6 drop in unless otherwise stated..
I'm constantly getting disconnected from the new US Central servers. I can't even finish a HUT challenge without getting disconnected and having to start over. It's not my connection. I'm not disconnecting from XBox Live, and I can reconnect to EA immediately after the disconnect.

There's been a lot of speculation about the location of the original European server in the past, some said it was in Ireland, some that it was in Germany or the Netherlands. Nobody knew for sure... so it HAS been confirmed that it's in Ireland? What an odd choice for a game that's mostly played anywhere else than the Western Europe?

It is in Ireland, it's actually where I am based myself that's why I know it. They put it over here so I can turn it off when you guys are in the middle of an important game. Jokes aside, it's due to the fact that there was an existing infrastructure over here that would facilitate the implementation of the servers themselves. I can't confirm where the second server is exactly, if I am able to, I'll get back to you.
So far so good from Cali. I used to get 12-13
...now I’m getting 10.
Remember the performance display is broken and the numbers we see are not correct or at least that’s what the update notes state at the top of the thread! lol but I played about 16 games yesterday and noticed consistency throughout and all games were smooth and crisp so Day 1 was smooth for me and made me smile! I am smack dab in middle of Canada 🇨🇦 and connecting to east sometimes gave me muddy ice! Didn’t see any mud on the ice yesterday!
Played 2 VS games last night - the worst back to back connection based games I have played since the game was released. Game is bad enough when it runs smooth................

The only mud I see on the ice from time to time is generally from a 5' 7" Dangler that I completely plastered into the boards

Isn't there any way that NHL can work this way?

This is awesome news to read. Hopefully dedicated servers are here to stay.

VS is p2p, not on the servers
