I find it hilarious that a goof ball game like Fortnite can throw 100 guys into a map at once and I've never experienced lag. But the minute you put 2 guys in a rink, all hell breaks loose.
highlighted a key part which partly answers your question.
Personally the delay when playing on the opposite coast has been reduced. There's still a night and day difference when playing on your native coast but it's a lot more manageable after the introduction of the new servers.
Got a new one today...had a ping over 300 MS with packet loss....Input delay of around a second lol. This is just getting comical at this point...how can EA not provide the appropriate networking infrastructure/coding, whatever to support their NHL series...this has been going on since NHL 15...PS4 is directly hardwired to my router and never have any issues at all with literally any other online game but yeah, keep telling me it's on my end EA....
Guess I'll stick to Apex Legends and Fortnite...can actually play an online game (with more than 10X the # number of player by the way) with no delay/lag.
No point in handing out more $ to EA if this is going to continue in NHL 20
I’m from Montreal I Went from 16 ms smooth connection to a sluggish 35 ms
My friend from Pittsburgh went from 8 ms to a 35 ms sluggish connection
His friend down the street went from 8 ms to 20 ms smooth connection
you're seeing the increased ping response time due to them fixing the error that was only showing half of your ping. my connection went from my usual 38, to around 76 77 but the overall connection feels similar.
as for the guy above, I had a game earlier give me a 420 ping for basically the entire 2nd period, but after that the connection went back to normal, but yea it was like a full second delay on my inputs lol

Thats fine but what is ticking me off is that the connection is not smooth, feels like I am turning in cement blocks the patchch obviously messed up something for a small percentage, while another percentage the patch made their connection flawless.
trying to play competitive seasons and every other game the ping is 60-90!! in ontario rogers cable 350 dl and 20 upload but the game is now almost unplayable when these pings are happening
cant speak to HUT but yea the connection is still very hit or miss in club. I play consistently on a 75 - 90 ping, some games feel amazing some games feel like a split second delay and the classic skating in mud...its very frustrating for sure

Precicely. Going 6-1-1 is meaningless. But two of my games were unplayable and the game I lost in OT was one of them. The other I gave up on, as I was hitting 388 and averaging almost 150 ping. So for me, I'm done competitive seasons.
thanks for responding EA. Good to know your looking into helping us all! Guess this game is now finished for good!
Everytime you guys “improve” something you DESTROY it! This latest “improvement” is it for me I can’t even play the game now it’s so choppy and delayed! EA it’s time to bring in some staff who know what they are doing when it comes to network infrastructure! You guys have been lost at it for years!
Something is very odd about the servers... today we played another Finnish team in EASHl clubs, and my ping was around 60 to 70. I get that sort of numbers only when playing Americans. I've NEVER had that bad ping when playing 'locally' ie. both teams in Finland. And with pings around 60 or more, I would get yellow bars for connection quality too. So how come I get green bars now? It wasn't unplayable, but those numbers are wacky.
So when they repaired the ping that showed only half the correct number, maybe that now causes the ping to show double on the other server? Or is the 'new' server actually America's East Coast server?
One game was awful, we got rewind issues, our opponent lost one goal, and we managed to tie the game. And get this: on the OT the opponent scores, but the game continues! It was 2-3 for couple of minutes... then after we play a bit more, it's back to 2-2, and then we manage to score and win... and of course the game didn't count, either.
Well, it would have been unfair to the other team if it had, after all that sillyness.
So I'm in the central north America part, why does it constantly say "failed to find opponent" when trying to do a drop in game by myself? Happens more than I'd like... love the gameplay, but improvement from 19, but the matchmaking if just terrible, becomes very frustrating taking 30-45 mins just to find 1 game to get into.. any server maintenance coming soon or something?
Good luck bud they “fixed” the servers already! Apparently it’s a Very small amount of NHL19 customers who are experiencing poor connections and latency issues yet Shaw Canada is well
Aware of the “NHL19 epidemic” so I am at total loss for words dude! It’s our fault try to source a better internet provider is all I can recommend bud! Lololol! Meanwhile I have absolutely no problems with any other online service I use or any other game I happen to enjoy. Weird eh?

I have worked with people here in the past that lead to a certain Canadian provider, that will not be named, identifying an issue with their peering point to the U.S.
As "luck" would have it, a tech that worked for that company was here on these boards and he went back to his upper tier / NTAC teams who made a change and the numerous customers that ravaged these boards with complaints were no longer seeing the issue.
Fix it already! They delay is awful, I'm in MN and play with guys from NY & Maryland. It's a solid second. I'm at 50ms and was always at 20 before. I don't buy the ping misreading before either.
Nobody else finds it curious that they announce this visual fix at the same time as 2 new servers? How long have we been able to check our exact ping now? 3 years? And they just find and fix that problem now?
I am suffering lag since these new servers and supposed fix and I am not the only one. It sounds like there are no more East servers and this is just how it is going to be from now on. Which makes no sense for the majority of the playerbase is on the East Coast.
Sounds pretty shady to me and for the first time in years of playing this game, through all of the other issues, I'm considering just not playing anymore. It is incredibly frustrating playing on these new servers with my 16 ping now at 34. Visual fix? Load of garbage if you ask me. This wouldnt be the first time EA has been dishonest with its customers.
It's confusing alright. I am in Europe and have always got ping of 30 according to EA. That's the way it's been on all current gen editions, up till the recent addition & bug.
Then I started seeing ping of 18ish with the new server thing. But now after the fix I get either 30 again or 60 - which is rather pubzzling to me, since I've never had that high ping, unless I was on US server (judging by the opponents) and with yellow bars for quality.

Classic EA, two steps forward one step backwards

playing on a 40 pi9ng now at 1:45 am and the connection is worse then the 80 ping you have got to be kidding me

just food for thought.
Leave it to EA to completely screw up something that was going so well. Unbelievable.
