Everything was soooooo good and smooth for most of the year. Aside from crazy tripping calls this game was good! What the hell did this update do? So frustrating and no explanation.
I bet the east coast servers are now located midwest or south east. That would explain it.

It’s starting to become evident that the ping “fix” was actually a MASK for a bigger problem possibly associated with the new server.
It’s too coincidental that all of these connection issues started after the last patch.
This not a network issue. Everyone I play with and seemingly many people here are experiencing the same thing. I repeat this is NOT an individual network problem.
Maybe the glitch is that many of us are connecting to this new central server instead of EAST Coast??? This has happened in the past. I used to connect to euro and west coast servers back in nhl 12. And my ping definitely reflects being on a central server.
just about everyone is providing no details at all.
lose / lose situation here, unless you are just venting.
sure, it's possible that EA is aware of a known issue on their side (or vendors). and, sure, they may not divulge any information on the topic until they have a root cause and a estimated time of mitigation.
it is just as equally as possible that there are regional or other platform issues going on outside EA's scope.
and again, some folks here have had lag issues day 1 - for years. i am NOT saying that is the case for all of you, but no real details are being shared so it's just venting to vent.
and again, it is possible they / EA are aware of a known issue they are working to mitigate.

I disagree. It is not equally possible that this isn't related to the update. Suddenly many players have doubled ping and garbage lag to go along with it. I have played with the same guys weekly years. The update comes out and we all have double ping and lag issues. Sorry but that right there is enough for me to wholeheartedly believe that it isn't our ISP's (from all over the east coast, different providers). Lucky you if you are amongst the people not having any issues but apparently there are quite a few people who are. And this all stems from the update.
Pretty sure I have figured it out. At least some of us on the east coast are connecting to this new Central server. Either that or this Central server has replaced the east coast servers entirely. I am hoping it is the former and a fix is on it's way.
The majority of people playing this game are on the East Coast. We need East Coast servers. Right now either there isn't one anymore, or many of us are being routed to the wrong one.
This extra coverage idea is just not working. So if there really are east servers still that means there are now 3 zones in NA to play on? With the majority of people playing being on the east coast it makes no sense to make us play on central servers.
To me it sounds like a way of cutting costs. They probably found a cheaper server provider and used the excuse that this is for more "coverage" and as for the visual fix I cant help but think that that was just trying to pull the wool over people's eyes so there wouldnt be an outcry. Thinking that most people wouldnt notice having their delay doubled.

So, the bolded part just cements my point: where are you getting this data from? Not saying you are wrong, just I haven't seen it.
Then there is the assumption that EA did not correct their monitor tool from one way to two way. If this was a one way monitor, then the the other path (either forward or reverse link) may not have been taken into account. I can assure you the two are not always symmetrical, bandwidth or path.
Then there is the assumption that they shut a server down, or removed game traffic from the east.
I am not saying you are wrong. I am not saying EA isn't having some issue either.... Increased traffic or infrastructure changes or even patch related. EA and their vendors should have their thresholds, KPIs, etc. to proactively identify increases in abnormal terminations and latency associated with their CDN and connections.
I am simply stating that it is rare you see people here give the details I talked about and then there is the inclusiveness that comes with a lack of data.
There is no way for me to get data because EA is so closed mouthed about this whole ordeal. I am relying on my 20 years of experience gaming with various connections 10 years of which I've been playing NHL online. More over I am relying on what I have seen being posted here and gaming buddies and their experiences since this mysterious game changing update.
I mentioned earlier that back in NHL 11-13 there was a known issue of people loading up the game and being on the wrong servers. I'd be euro and west coast and I'd have to restart my game multiple times to finally get on the east. Even that didnt work at times. So to me all the evidence points to A) some of us East coasters are being put on the new central server or B ) This is the way EA is going to do things from now on, just having everyone play on Central.
I suspect that is what I have dealt with. It feels like I'm on the wrong server. Not everytime, in fact the past few days have been fine. But last week was atrocious. Not every game, but enough where I couldn't play. And one game in particular it felt like the old days when you'd get put on the Euro server.

Few people posted the same thing and a forum member brought up the release of Anthem
It's all the load screens in Anthem sucking up the bandwidth lol.
Seriously I'm in west Michigan and 2 weekends ago it was bad but it's been fine for me since then. We usually put best location on and get put on the central server. Works well for me, a friend in Dallas and the other in New Jersey.
For the conspiracy theorists out there go find the thread that had the IP address of the new server and ping it from a PC and see how the results compare to what NHL says, solved.

Ok then. I'm going to go back to blaming the anthem loading screens for the problem I'm not having until you guys can come up with something more creative and subjective.

well, all i've said is people that come here to complain about connection issues without providing any details at all are, well..... just venting to vent.

EA radio silence is also very suspicious.
Not to be that guy but I think people should check there network settings as mentioned previously.
Couldn’t agree more. I just got new fibre optic 300 internet and have been in lag free heaven.
