New ideas
I would love to how 2 new modes.
1) All time team. Every team in the league as well as departed teams such as Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, Atlanta Thrashers...etc have an all time team. You could play an entire season against other all time teams. Being able to play with and against so many of the all time greats. Not just a select handful.
2) A prospects mode. Not just team red and white. But gather all the prospects in one mode. Have a fantasy draft. Make as many teams as would fit. Play a whole season. What a great way to get a feel of who's in the draft.

I would also like some sort of RPG mode in Be A Pro that is very similar to how NBA 2K does it; where you can choose to say certain things to other players, the media, your coach, etc. and each thing you say has a consequence to how your career turns out; whether good or bad.
I would also love to have a coach mode in Be A Pro mode as well; very similar to FIFA, I know there is the owner mode but would love to coach a team as well.
Other than that; maybe better regulation of lagging/hacking and I'm actually okay with the game.
It's still very popular, there's a website and community that have been playing this game for years using various methods to play online with varying results(NHL94online.com). It would be nice to have it all in one package on console and not tied to a PC.
You already have NHL94 controls and an NHL94 inspired Chel jersey.. Just add the full game playable online, it can't be that hard!

Wouldn't see an issue if players were able to type in custom names, but to actually use those names within game and/or pictures it will of course require permission of the NHL, Disney, and Nintendo. There's of course another aspect too, whether the team and community feels that's the right fit for the NHL franchise.
I'd be a fun spin on things to play 1's or 3's in fantasy-like atmospheres though.
