Really hate that this info has to come from a GameChanger when I feel the Devs are the ones who should have wrote up a nice long topic about it.

  • There will probably be an article about it soon. I'm glad simple dekes will have a higher success rate now. In NHL 19, I could NOT pull off a simple TOE DRAG with even the likes of Matt Duchene sometimes.

It really is a let down isn't it? I'm all for the slow drip of new information, but it would nice to hear it from the horse's mouth. Instead of a GC reading what I'm guessing was an email on his stream, I would have liked to have read it here or EA NHL's twitter account. I don't play HUT so I rarely ever visit r/NHLHUT and would have missed it had you not posted it here.
  • This is great news. No one would ever be able to do that in real life so I'm glad EA found a fix to it.
  • Great!

There was talk about making the player lose the puck while backskating too fast or too long as well; cant remember which. I think this is a better solution and honestly should have been patched early on in 19.

  • Hopefully this doesn’t mean a nerf to backskating speed on Defense.

Yeah, sure sounds like it... would it be a good idea to have a separate stat for back skating...
  • Glad it is getting a change, but have to admit I hate that it took a year to fix.... If it is indeed fixed. Will see at release.

It was a change that was implemented long after the last event, and we were having a discussion with the devs after the gameplay trailer dropped. We had to clarify what can be talked about publicly and what can't when this piece of information came our way. I am glad we were able to share it at least and I would imagine the closer we get to launch and past the extreme crunch time for the devs, they will open up more discussions and become more active on the socials.

One of the problem with dekes I think, is not alot of people seem to know if you enter a glide first, which isn't always possible, you have a better chance of retaining the puck.

What I would like to see more from videos and such is breakdowns of the features. I want to see what it was like before and what it gets changed to. People say there is no difference in many changes but I feel the team would be wise make videos highlighting changes and give reasons why it was done. Like deep breakdowns.

Show LTing in NHL 19 and explain what is happening and what shouldn't be happening
Show LTing in NHL 20 and explain what was changed
Show clip side by side with a breakdown.

I feel that is the best way of really showing off changes the game gets when it comes to gameplay.
  • "Auto" anything and "assist" sliders just shouldn't exist in competitive eashl.

So like how they showed off the problems with contextual shots, goaltender intelligence, and explosiveness in the gameplay trailer?

They showed only a bit on contextual shots and goalie intelligence. But they still don't side by side show a slow breakdown. I want to see what a well timed and ill timed shot are side by side. The receiving passes thing is something that should definitely have been used with a side by side because that is the biggest feature they are offering.
