July home to the awesome NHL 20 beta, as in years past booooooyyyyzzzz????

Love to hear what your excited about?

What might possibly need some tuning, eh boys?

Please no negative stuff :wink: , keep it clean, eh!

Details of puck handling, moving into the shooting positions is gonna create a lot of new neural activity, as your fingers adjust to the new shooting animations. Can't wait, gonna be siiiicck.

I can just imagine myself, coming down on my offside, watching the goalie adjust to left, then right, then I pull it back on the LS stick. lol, eh?

Stride into the middle of the ice, looking top cheese, pulls it back, boom rips it! There it is! Nice GnO for the night, boys!

Anyways etc etc. Its gonna be a lot of fun IMO! Every year past, the NHL series has gotten better and this year is clearly another indication that the EA team is committed to that tradition.

Did someone confirm a beta release date?

  • Nothing is confirmed. But I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks we get one.

If more and more loosing interest to discuss, as more they need to work for the game.
  • I predict dressing room errors galore while still using black and white hoodies in dropins.

Pass receptions should make the game more fluid and transitional plays should be faster. D men might have to play a bit more conservative to keep up.

New shot animations should see alot less whiffing and add a bit more realism to shooting.

AI goalies will get a hard nerf in 8 weeks.

We still have yet to see more reveal to have a better opinion. Human goalie changes is one I am looking forward to hearing.

Any idea when new info will trickle out???

Goalies are going to be terrible... book it

Look at the gameplay trailer (specifically Seguin on Howard and Tatar shot). Goalies still reach instead of sliding over in butterfly to make save. Kuemper/Raanta came off the post slightly before Stone ripped it top shelf.. that is still an issue. Sure, they’ll cover puck better and deflect easy saves into corner but they’re going to get screweeeeed on one timers and shots where the angle is changed. Going to be really easy to score in beta, I’ve seen this story before
  • Nothing is confirmed. But I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks we get one.

Wouldn't be surprised to see one drop next Thursday or so.

Well if we repeat from last year should be " This Thrusday"

    Good point.

Which raises another point: If we are that close to the beta, which technically we know is just around the corner, why hasn't EA released the rest of the info on 20? What are they waiting for?

Unless, there really isn't anything else to say....

I was pleasantly surprised with the gameplay trailer but has there been any indication that there is more to release?

For 1, how will these new goalie animations affect human goalies? That is the main question I want answered.

Don't be shocked if there is no Beta this year.. Because since doing the whole beta thing since 16, all everyone does is compare the game to its Beta counterpart.. EA might get sick of hearing about the beta and dont do one

    That's a definite possibility.

I am very certain we will get a beta, but who knows? Nothing's confirmed at this point.

That could be the case. However, the problem with past BETAs, IMO, was that EA is supposed to use them to take feedback from the community and apply that feedback to the main game when it becomes available. That didn't happen with NHL 19.

Connection errors were accepted during the BETA, because... well it's a BETA! There are bound to be glitches and bugs. But when those same errors kept happening weeks and MONTHS after the release of the game, people got fed up and rightly called out EA on it. Same when they tweaked the game further and further from how the BETA played and back to what NHL 17/18 played with every new patch and tuner that was released.

If they do release an NHL 20 BETA this year, I hope it's with the intention of fixing/tweaking the bad things out for the release of the game, while leaving things well enough alone for the things that are working correctly. I already anticipate people will be screaming bloody murder if (when?) the goalies are too hard to score on... Which EA will probably nerf into the ground too quickly.
  • Can't get to excited remember what happened last year after the beta the same will happen this time

Heaven for bid if that that they can't score the same goal over and over again ...EA has made it so that there is zero effort in their games to be creative
  • I think we should focus on what 's wrong with the game instead of rearranging what's already good.
Here's a few ideas i would like to share:
    (1) Cpu should not be as strong physically, especially defenseman. Cpu is not suppose To be the elastic man and stretch is arm and pin you on the boards.
    (2) Cpu should not intercept passes bien turning is back on the play... it happens all the time and its impossible and ridiculus.
    (3) Bring back the Player build up attibutes and please stop taking away a strenght as we add one...
    (4) Most importantly, get rid of the "icetilt" and Bring back the pure fun this game provided for so many years. It use To be "may the best team win " ...but now its all about giving all the advantages To the weaker team so they don't get a **** whippin . The best way to learn is to play against the best and even if it means getting seriously beat up sometimes lol. Let the best players just be the best instead of having to be a glitch pro .
    Thank you 😎

Beta coming Friday is my prediction.

I would guess next Friday, Madden is coming out on EA Access this week. They surely wouldn't want to have that conflict.
  • they need to make passing require more skill. its ridiculous how you dont even have to be accurate to pass perfect tape to tape passes. im not saying make it totally manual. because 95% of all players couldnt make even the simplest passes. but make it so that if you are not accurate then its not spot on pass. the receiving player has harder time picking it up thus losing speed. or cant shoot as accurate because the puck isnt in the optimal position for shooting. hate how ea makes these sport games where they strip all the skill out of the passing mechanic. just watch what they have done with fifa. game that is all about passing the ball. but all passes are 100% assisted and no skill is needed.

I would rather they tune the pass interception so that making risky passes would be punished more. I am not asking magnets on sticks, just that maybe a player in good position would get a piece of the puck little more often.
