But did you guys put the teams in Rosters? So we can mix and match them, place them on teams, on created teams, ect.? It's an ok gesture after last year's travesty, but only really impactful if the players can be played around with in Roster management menu. I have a feeling the answer's no.

    What needs to happen:
Alum teams in Roster management to freely move the alum around to teams however we see fit for Franchise. Last year, for example, I wanted to do an all-Tkachuk line.

As @Froommey stated, we 100% should be able to edit these guys' ages, and more (probably edit all), if we want all to be 18, so be it. $60+ game. I don't want these guys in Franchise retiring in Year 2.

Their appearance doesn't change on teams you put them on, that is, no helmets during franchise ect.

All of that depends on the key component, though, that these guys can be managed in Rosters, which is pivotal for an NHL 20 buy. Just controlling the Alum teams themselves in Franchise isn't enough, sorry.

Thumbs up :-) You are on my way. For example I want to add the active playing Datsyuk to Detroit with his real age and not that his age will change than to 26 or 27,28 years. Or would like to add a Gretzky to Sault St Marie Greyhounds with age of 16 or 17 and of course with lower abilities and so on. I started a Franchise Dynasty with Luc Robitaille placed on Kings Roster.
His age after starting the Franchise was 28. We need to get the possibility to change the year of the Legend players birth at the Rosters. Personally would like a Random Draft generator button for the Drafted Players too. A possibility to generate new Player ratings for the first three years of the Draft which you can use or nit if you want. This would be excited cause you don’t know than Player ratings from real and self created Players before. Can be much higher or lower as in Standard Roster.
  • Hey everyone, so I visited this article titled "NHL 20: 33 Alumni Teams playable in Franchise mode":
    https://puckprose.com/2019/08/31/nhl-20-33-alumni-teams-playable-franchise-mode/

After reading lines like "The ability to move legendary players around and have them play with other teams makes me very happy" I decided to directly message the author on Twitter, asking to confirm what we've been asking above and he replied:

"Yeah you can do all of those things. It’s just as if they were on a European team and you can move them onto the regular rosters"

So that's fantastic for those of you who were wondering what we could really do with Alumni players, not just the full teams. Well done, EA.

Yes, it’s a good work, but if they let us change the year of berth of the Players would be much bigger. Much better that the Player starts with a wished age not with 26, 27, 28 after I started a Franchise Dynasty mode. Why can I use an active Player like Datsyuk not with his real age ? Why can I use a Gretzky not as a 15 year old ? to draft and develop him later.

I take back the "Well done, EA" if all of the Alumni retire after one year of Franchise mode. Is that what happens? But yeah allow birth edit or just make them all eighteen. It's a complete waste if can't use them for most of our Franchise seasons.

No. They are 27 years old.
  • Ok so I'm new to all of this. Where do I go to find the legend teams like Minnesota North Stars ,Hartford Whalers ect
  • So I am wanting to do a alumni franchise. Where do I find the all-time Legend teams? Teams like Minnesota North Stars, the Hartford Whalers, old school Red Wings etc. I I see where the all-time western conference is an all-time Grit but where do I go to find alumni teams and legends list?
  • I am guessing ea won’t answer this but are legends able to be moved to different teams? I don’t have much interest in buying this years game, i feel ea was dishonest last year and i have zero trust in them, and i think they need to gain everyone’s trust back
  • Yes, you can move them to whatever teams you want. You can also add current players to the alumni teams. Just go to Rosters and Player Movement. It's awesome to have what we all expected last year.
  • To find the alumni teams, when at the team select screen Press L2 or LT to change leagues, choose the the NHL Alumni Association league and then pick your alumni team.
  • I know where the all time teams are. I'm talking abt teams Minnesota North Stars, Hartford Whalers. All the teams with the legends on it
  • I noticed a major lack of Russian players.

Bure, Kovalev and Zubov to name a few.

I wonder if the list of ex-players in the Alumni Association is public knowledge. I tried looking for it earlier today. I’d really like to know who is in it and who is not.

I only wonder because to me, there’s more than enough alumni fir each team that there should be very few guys double and tripled up. I mean some guys you just can’t put on 1 team.

But, just for Anaheim, I found over 20 players that are not in this game.

Guys like Paul Kariya, Andy MacDonald, Francois Beauchemin and Jonas Hiller really need to be on an Ducks alumni team. There’s others, but these guys are prominent. All spent more time on the Ducks than any other team in their career.

I guess they’re not in the NHLAA. Sometimes this legal stuff really sucks.
  • The Ottawa Senators alumni team is... Disappointing.

Notable missing alumni: Daniel Alfredsson, Radek Bonk, Alexei Yashin, Damian Rhodes, Ron Tugnutt, Chris Neil, Martin Havlat, Anton Volchenkov, Danny Heatly.

I would've added Ray Emery as well, just because he took over for Gerber after he got injured and took the Sens to the Stanley Cup Finals. Like... I get that there might by licensing issues in getting some of these names signed, but c'mon!

How can you have a Sens Alumni team without the Pizza Line? How can you not include one of the best if not THE best Goalie tandem in their history with Rhodes/Tugnutt? How can you not include one of Ottawa's most favourite, all-time beloved players like Chris Neil?

    *sigh*

When you're making your franchise there's a place where you can select a team and hit a button to substitute it out. Then choose the alumni team you want. I made a franchise with mostly alumni teams but kept a few current teams as well as my current Canucks team. I really had to dumb down the sliders for the cpu though because these teams are stacked with good players.
  • Ok but I dont even see alumni teams in Play now and im wanting to do roster moves so I dont have players on multiple teams and they are not even there. So am I missing something? Is it something I have to download bc I am having problems with my internet
  • What is the limit to players you can create? I have been adding some guys I want on those teams. Are there any guides yet for creating players like Ron Francis and Pavel Bure, I"ve just made very rough attempts. The face system is awful in NHL.
  • Alumni teams is a brilliant idea but if I’m an Ottawa Senators fan, and I am, there’s no way I’m going to play with these teams. There is a severe lack of Ottawa alumni!

    Great idea but poor execution.

    I feel you.

Missing guys like Chris Phillips, Alexei Yashin, Radek Bonk and the greatest Senator of them all, Daniel Alfredsson, is a hard pill to swallow.

Unfortunately for all of us who really look forward to using these teams, there is a whole bunch of legal mumbo jumbo putting a wrench in the works. I’m sure that’s the case why so many “Alumni” are missing. I mean if there are multiple players that are eligible to be put in the game, and the guys doing the rosters don’t realize that Alfredsson needs to be on an “Alumni” team, then they really need to do a reality check.

I have complied a list of players, ranging from superstars to 4th line grinders, that I believe should be on any so called Alumni team. It’s a big list. In fact, it’s so big, that it’s well over 300 guys. More than enough players to drastically cut down on duplicate and triplicate players on multiple teams.

From guys like Dino Ciccarelli, Tomas Sandstrom, Tony Amonte, Doug Weight, Bill Guerin, Pavel Bure, Sergei Zubov and Vincent Damphousse all the way to the likes of Wade Belak, Chris Simon, Aaron Asham and Sergio Momesso.

I could go on listing guys like this, but it would be a rather long post.
