NHL 20 Thoughts from Early Access
1.) Hitting is weak
2.) Big builds still reign supreme too much
3.) LTing doesn't even feel like it got nerfed worth a damn
4.) Small scoreboard needs to be shrunk to half that size to be viable.
5.) Puck control is a little bit too high
feel free to add your thoughts and I'm sure I will add more as I goof around more. I really hope there is a Day 1 patch to fix some of this stuff because I won't lie....defense doesn't look like they gonna have fun.

Is pass speed still really slow too?
I feel the passing is pretty good at least in HUT/Versus... Didn't test it in Club where I felt the speed was kinda slow.
Well you came back and did the ol' LT backskate, so congratulations.
LT backskate is a joke. Thanks for providing a great example of how ridiculous it is.
I don't condone the LTing. But if you aren't gonna test and see what changes they made or didn't make it's pointless. I'm clearly asking for this to be fixed. Hell I want LT nerfed to the ground and have wanted it done since NHL 19. Puck control needs to take a serious hit when LTing imo.

Passing is extremely slow in drop-in. I can barely wheel it around the boards
Good point...
Why can’t they simply nerf LT down to the ground. Spinning into the zone isn’t what hockey players do so why is still a thing? Why is possible to still get speed from half spins? No one moves like that to get speed in the NHL.
As to quote @WainGretSki “There wouldn’t be enough ambulances for one game”
There’s a reason no NHL played dares to skate backwards into offensive zone. And it’s for a good reason.
If you skate backwards into the zone and a defensemen decks you in the back, that’s not a penalty. If it was, wouldn’t players being doing it more? Other than the fact they can hurt themselves from the check from another dimension they’ll get.
LOL.. this was the exact same as in the beta. Jesus Christ guys
- Visually I really like it this year, (menus, graphics, colour scheme)
- Every year I recreate the Nordiques, Whalers and North Stars and substitute them into Franchise and now this year you can substitute from the alumni teams meaning I can use the actual jerseys for these teams, call names, graphics.
- I've always wanted to have the graphics show season totals for players. Instead of seeing goals/points on the night, the popup graphics when someone scores should show their season totals. (45th goal of the season, 100th point. This is finally back!
- Camera angles on replays for goals are cool.
Cons
- Although you can substitute the alumni teams, their arenas aren't "real" and there is no logo on the ice for the team
- Atlanta Thrashers Jerseys/Logos still missing sucks, but I think is due to a legal situation
- More custom logos would have been nice to choose from.
- Online Franchise Mode missing still is really bad. Its 2019, in a world where streaming and content creators are everywhere, having an online franchise mode of 31/32 real human players controlling each team, would be huge for communities. I don't get why this isn't in yet.
- Roster Sharing would be nice or even community sharing for arenas/jerseys/rosters/mascots
- Custom music, goal horns, goal songs, in between play music. This was so awesome back in the day. Incorporating something like spotify or usb
- PC Version.
- Highlights or out of town scoreboards. Back in NHL 94 i think it was, you would get breaks in play and see a goal from another game. Can't do that in 2019? I'm just testing Franchise so maybe this is in, but i doubt it.
That's it so far, but this is stuff I look for every year.
That stupid one hand tuck crap still goes in every time.
Pass interceptions are nearly backwards. People are stretch armstronging and making one handed pass intercepts and picking off all kinds of passes out of the air, yet you can pass right through someone who is facing you standing still.
Goalies still move laterally 100 mph on great tic tac toe passes and stop backdoor one timers, meanwhile cant stop the simplest of shots.
The game is an absolute nightmare.
But seriously, I will hold off purcahse until I hear whether day one patch does anything. If not, skip this game until it's on discount, maybe black friday or something?
If the game isn't a must have then Black Friday for like 20-30 is ideal. It's obvious that beta tests are nothing more than them throwing people a bone to get them talking. You don't see @NHLDev talking it up with us about the game.
