It looks like cross-play is officially out of beta and available for all developers to implement. So, there are no more excuses. The EASHL community has had a low population for several years now. Many stop playing the game because they are tired of waiting in lobbies and matchmaking screens. Cross-play is exactly what the NHL series needs to boost the population and have it grow into a healthy size again. Uniting everybody under one league should be a top priority for EA. Let's make it happen.

  • Absolutely. This would be amazing.

Didn't read the article yet, but does that mean Sony is finally willing to play nice?

This would absolutely be huge for this game. It has got to happen, would be really fun to pretty much double the player base overnight by having cross play.

Yes, Sony is fully on board with cross-play now.

    Yes, Sony agreed.

However, they say it is up to the devs themselves to manage this into their own games. Overwatch has stated it is alot more complex than it seems. Comments like this get me worried.
  • There's no chance the NHL team gets this right even if they put it in. It's going to be a mess just like everything else.
  • Nhl cant connect an xbox to an xbox half the time, good luck with crossplay.

Comments like that tell me it will never come to the nhl series, lol.

These guys can't even make it work on one console, lmao.

They were finally heading the right direction with 19, then decided to say "you know what? We can totally make this game a 100x worse.", and then released 20.
  • Certain developers such as DICE with battlefield have said we all play on the exact same servers and on XBOX the PS4 servers are just hidden basically. I am not saying the Overwatch developers didn't run into some issues trying to figure it out because they probably did. But it might depend on the game. I would think that matchmaking games that are running the same version would be simple enough. Hopefully we get this. Game needs it.

There have been times where we can't even find a game in Division 1 which means D6-D1 are available to play.
  • This is a must. Having trouble finding full 6s drop in lobbies on evenings and weekends this early into the game is a bad sign.

Uh, NHL 19 had issues with matchmaking on a single platform. Can you imagine cross platform??

I have to agree with Zombie, there is no way this gets implemented properly and consistently.

And all those people defending 19 saying it was people's internet that was the problem for the DR Errors, well 20 has proved that wasn't the case it was the game itself

That is a good point. Magically, everyone's internet works fine. Guess all they needed was NHL 20 to fix their internet lol.

    Have to agree.

the 19 beta and its first couple of weeks was the best game in this franchise, imo. Well, best in at least the last 15 years. It was actual hockey, and team-oriented.

Now? Couple patches and a year later? Can barely stomach the game... So sad. They had it. They freaking had it, and murdered it.
  • Madden and FIFA would get this before NHL. EA would use this as a promotional Avenue for those games next year I'd imagine.
  • Yeah EA get on it.
  • The online community would greatly benefit from crossplay.

I play on PS4 and the populations for 3v3, 6v6, and One's are often listed as "low." I'd also love to be able to play with my Xbox friends on the same EASHL team.

Sounds like a nice concept on paper but with EA, so many things can go wrong or simply not work.

    +!

I remember the beta. Then the game came out and a few months later, we were back at nhl 18. I suspect the HUT streamers/game changer members are the reason this franchise is the way it is. Watch some of the streams and see how much figure skating there is.

This is exactly what I was thinking, let's make it right on one before we make it bad on two.
