Any chance NHL will follow JEDI Fallen Order?

That is to say, be a game designed to be fun and rewarding and not psychologically manipulative, illogical and frustrating for the sake of online transactions?
JFO is not really my type of game. It's a run and jump action/rpg-ish type that I sort of out grew, BUT it is what it is, and that's just a video game. A fun video game. It's not trying to trick me or funnel me to it's scam mode by leaving other modes underdeveloped and unplayable. All I have to do is learn some new skills and go on an adventure.
Am I compelled by it? No. The sophistication level is a little low, but it's nice, for a change, to play a game that doesn't feel crooked.
Obviously, Disney told EA to "knock it off" when it comes to Star Wars, but the word going around is EA just let the dev team make a game and they made a solid one that they didn't have to integrate into pay-walls, loot boxes, grind fests, etc.
Again, it's just mazes with action and story woven into it with cues that are geared for a younger less sophisticated audience, but it delivers on that. It feels like the game has actually been completed.
I mean, if there were an immersive and quality sports title (IDK basketball enough to get into 2K) I wouldn't be playing JFO, but there isn't, so I'm playing a game I don't have too much interest in because everything else feels like scam. An unhealthy, stress inducing scam and I don't even bother with UT modes.
So, is there any chance EA will let the NHL Dev team just make a hockey game?

IMO, EA doesn't give 2 rat turds about the NHL title unless it's about HUT. The main goal is to funnel players to that mode and hopefully sway them into buying as many packs as possible. Nothing matters as long as HUT revenue climbs up every quarter, every year. EASHL could be at an all time low and it doesn't matter as long as HUT keeps growing as it has over the years.
You can decide to not buy the game to change things, but it isn't going to change. The only possible way to change the direction and mindset of this game is to not only stop spending in HUT, but also to not actually play that mode. No matter what you say or do, all EA sees is a steady increase in the HUT player base, and a steady increase in profits. Simply put, that mode is telling them everything is ok and keep it up.
If HUT stops making money then EA will scramble to find ways to get more people into the game, therefore increasing in sales of the actual game. If there are 10 000 less copies sold next year, but HUT makes more profit than the previous year, it won't raise any alarms whatsoever at EA. They will just see it as good and that revenue is growing, regardless if they sell less copies or not.
They can thank the Lord that people actually sink money into the hole of a mode. If not for UT series, they would have to sink considerable resources into their franchises.
So yes while HUT is keeping this game afloat, it is also killing any evolution of the game. Why do you think Be a Pro has been extremely neglected? Why are so many bugs carried over year to year?

Unfortunately not, EA is showing no signs of changing the direction of the gameplay, leaving it a dummied down version of hockey because they realized they can get more money off them than off actual hockey fans.
EA is shooting themshelves in the ankle: even if they wanted to support BaP, EASHL etc they keep introducing NEW game modes, so it becomes even harder to do any worthwile upgrades to a single mode? I mean, they have the same amount of time, and probably not a huge budget in total... if you look at bloat in CHEL casual modes and gear, it's plain to see they're putting their money and time in the wrong place. But somebody got that 'great' idea and they don't want to give up on it?
But yeah, JEDI is a fun game for what it is. One thing I don't like it is the 'souls' approach to saves and enemy re-spawning.
Follow this link if you want a long read about an EA meeting and they talk about their profits.

Yeah, there are definitely things, well I wouldn't say I don't like, but I'm not into anymore or I've out grown. Ya know, the "been there done that" sort of thing. I mean they just took popular gameplay aspects of older games and put them into a star wars setting.
However, there wasn't that feeling of "nonsense" as I just began concentrating on what I had to do in the game. It's a subtle difference, but when you've just been playing games that are designed to manipulate you into "upgrading", for the past however many years, JFO was an awakening. An awakening that games can be designed to be fun.
I'm hoping they take that philosophy with NHL and stop wasting so much development on trying to figure out how to manipulate the player base. Instead, they can spend time and develop a "harder" difficulty level that's based on real hockey strategy not over powered Jedi A.I. Imagine chip and chase, proper gaps, up to date PP and PK strategies, proper goalies, fighting, board play, etc. etc. etc. It's never going to happen when their orders are to keep evolving the DDA.
