Why is boarding no longer a penalty?

  • It's only in 1v1 game modes.

So it just hasn't worked since release? Why can a guy just go and kill a guy with his face against the wall?

It's working. I have seen boarding called many times.

Clearly it is not working correctly. Ill get smashed from behind 5 times a game with no call yet sometimes the guy will hit someone from the side and nowhere near the boards and its boarding. Its messed up aljo
  • Hey I found one boarding. Took a guy going full sprint for pretty much from half to get it, but there has been 1 boarding call in the last 50 that should have been called in VS.

It is working fine in EASHL though. Never had an issue there but in VS it's a huge issue, as is a lot of hitting (nudges from behind are op).

Is it working if you have your players get boarded multiple times and don't get a call but every third game you see it?

There's nothing built into the game that only allows them to be called every third game. We'd need to review video to see if there are any issues here.

Did you really take that literally or are you being sarcastic?

    Stay positive, my friend.

    Edit: fewer boardings offline too

Or you could just play VS games and see that it's never called. Once in a blue moon in comparison to how they used to be called.

The current daily challenge in HUT is to get 9 hits. These are 1 minute periods. I took a boarding call with the first guy I was able to smash on the boards in the 2nd period. That's less than 2 minutes into the game. With Gretzky of all players who has 91 discipline.

Are you yourself trying to take boarding calls to test this? Like I said, if you let up on the stick right before you hit them, chances are a lot lower you're going to take a boarding call.

I'm pretty sure you have to sprint ala charge to get it in VS. Might be different in hut where everybody has better hitting attributes.

Penalties are based more on discipline. I'm not totally sure the role hustle plays in it. It's possible that it contributes to turning it into a major for injuring a player. I'll try to find out. I actually got a major for checking from behind earlier. It looked like boarding, but I got that instead. Definitely a rare one since in most cases, it's going to be a boarding call.

Edit - Higher speed and a more direct angle increase the chance of a boarding call. So, your chances are higher when hustling. You also have to make the player completely fall for it to count as boarding.

That's exactly it. That's the issue, guys have to be running train on you to draw the call in VS. It's the only mode I've found with this issue.

Thanks for the feedback on this. I've made the dev team aware of it. If you have any more input on this, or anything else, let us know.

Same for me, the only way to get the call is when you full charge it. In versus.
Also, the discipline attribute value should not be a factor for getting a penalty or not. Even if you have perfect discipline but you hit violently into the board or hit from behind, it should automatically be a penalty.
If Barkov who won the Lady Bing last year hit a player into the board with good force, it should have a penalty anyway, regardless of who it is.
  • I've raised the boarding slider in my offline Franchise to 96/100 from like 45/100 and still see less frequent calls. Something's definitely up.
