It's called Competitive Rating for a reason - wins/losses should play a large role but I agree there should definitely be other factors.

Skill ratings in games like Battlefield are near worthless/pointless because there are just so many misleading factors to consider, but it's fairly cut and dry when it comes to hockey imo.

Yes, ragging/lag/dc/# of players and the like can affect stats like ToA, faceoffs, difficulty etc. but I'd like to think we can all come up with a designated "weight" for each category

CR, SR, ELO... whatever you want to call it is based off the chess ELO, which is 1v1. It works with Versus, but has no business being in 3v3 or 6v6 in it's current capacity.

You can play like a complete tard but if your team wins you won't lose CR, if you play like a stud and your team losses you won't gain CR.

    Dumb.

Well the way I see it, a 1v1 rating cannot work exactly the same as a 6v6 rating. Competitive as you say is true if you are the sole person affecting the outcome of your team. But when there are 5 other people in your game, that completely changes the dynamics, you simply cannot be rated the same way.

How is it fair when a single player controls his team vs the player who can have 1 or multiple noobs and/or trolls on his team?

6v6 only one thing matters and that's what should be graded: How well did you do your job and play your position? If I don't score any goals as a defender, but I prevented 3 goals by doing my job.... Think we can agree I did my job. Or if the opposite side of the ice is always crumbling and we lose, I still did my job but the other side did not. I shouldn't be punished for it.

Win/lose CR is the dumbest thing in a 12 player setting with random players. The system could work for club though. Win as a team, lose as a team. I would accept it there, but not for dropins. CR should either be eliminated in dropins, or create tiers where higher CR players don't play sub 600 CR players, where average players don't play sub 400 CR, etc etc. Something along those lines would work for me and I am willing to divide the community for it and wait a few minutes to find a game. Tired of seeing my 335CR D partner ruin games and spend 16 minutes in the box with his stupid tripping penalties all game long all while trying to one-time from the slot.

Can't we just do a CR for club/hut/vs based on wins and a DR based on revamped grades for dropins?
  • Not a large enough community for tiers.

If you're above 700 CR you would have a lot of trouble finding games.

Again, make it a lobby system, like this thread suggests.

Tier it from CR if you want. I can enter the lobby that is in range with my current CR, or if I want a challenge I can enter the higher CR lobby. No waiting for matchmaking to decide for me. Can I also enter the low ranked CR lobby and sandbag? Sure, but if CR's are displayed (They should be for VS) then you might not get a match.

6v6 shouldn't be tiered from CR(CR should also NOT be displayed), but for VS it could work.

This would allow my garbage 285CR D partner to join my lobby, which I don't want.

I don't want to play with absolute scrubs or trolls anymore. Some people are just downright terrible with this game, despite trying. I find it cool that they want to learn and all, but man... Some games, I just lose my cool a bit. If there was an option to play with people more in line with my skill it would be better for me.

    I know.

I just wanted to clarify in case some people think this is good for 6v6.

I should have specified and been more clear. My bad.

If you're above 700 CR you would have a lot of trouble finding games.

If you didn't have to deal with trolls and horrible useless players, tons of players that used to play drops would likely come back.

Without a doubt. I know I would. I'm okay playing with absolutely terrible players, I'm not okay with playing with trolls. There's a 25% chance I'll play with a troll so unless I'm super desperate I avoid that mode at all costs.

Lol you say that but I'm sure after waiting for 30-60 minutes to find a game you'd be willing to play with sub 700 players just to get a game in.

If I had to guess, maybe 10% of the drop in community is above 700.

A good majority of high CR dropin players are seal clubbers. They are mostly 5 or 6 buds (alot of times they let some random scrub play as goalie as it doesn't matter cause he will get maybe 7 shots) that always play together and just destroy dropin randoms.

There is no magic solution. No matter what changes or stays the same, there will be downfalls. Sadly, the option to play with complete scrubs that just enjoy destroying a game with their shenanigans should not even exist. Period. Time to find something new because this 10+ years system is not working.

Either find a way to report, suspend, ban, or separate the trolls from the rest of the crowd. Enough is enough.

Lol I guess I'm a seal clubber. Sometimes we have a full 6 but it takes forever to find club games, sometimes no luck at all for 30 minutes straight so we usually end up going to drop in. I'd say the majority of the time we match up against another 4-6 squad though.

And I agree, no magic solution. Just more anti-trolling measures. But they will always be there. As it is now it is just far too easy to intentionally ruin a game.

What I meant by seal clubbing are these 1200 CR players that have played like 2000 dropin games already. They very rarely drop in alone with randoms. They usually have their 4-5 buddies with them (all are over 1000CR) which is why I call it seal clubbing. All they do is lurk in dropins. And alot of these clubbers are QC players and I know they have no issues finding games being a QC player myself. I just don't have that mentality that seems to be the general opinion of QC players in the community.

When you are very clearly a good Div 1 team and play almost only dropins, it is basically seal clubbing. I am not saying that is all you do, unless, well, that is all you do lol.

And I agree with you that anti-trolling measures have to be implemented and asap.

That's the problem. It can be hard to find 6s club games. Most people would rather play back to back games rather than wait for 30 minutes or potentially not even find a match. Once you give up and switch to drops you likely won't be going back to club any time soon.

If you match size it takes forever/won't find one. If you unmatched club size you get these idiots playing 2s and 3s in 6s!

Someone mentioned you should have at minimum 4 skaters to do 6s. I fully agree with that. That's 4 skaters not 3 skaters and 1 goalie.

Yup that was me. 4 absolute minimum. I'd allow 3 + 1 goalie, but the search options need to be expanded to be able to search for exactly what you want.

Yea makes sense. I mean, how logical is it that you can play 6s with less players that you could in 3s? 2 skaters? Fine, play 3s with an AI. 4 skaters is not possible in 3s, so bump it to 6s with 2 AI.

    Simple.
