Whatever happened to...?

I figured I’d make this thread for fun. You don’t get any extra points for crass comments and no one really cares how funny you think you are.

Just like the title says, let’s get a list going of the things that used to be the game that are now gone.

As a roster guy, I remember that on one version, NHL06 perhaps, when you went to create a player that was not in the game, a message would pop up when you typed in the last name. The message said something like “A player exists in the EA database. Would you like to create this player?”. Then you would click YES, and boom, the player was created along with his likeness, vital stats and career stats included. It was fantastic.

So, whatever happened to that?

  • As an online guy remember when you couldn't just twirl around and around in the corner or hold onto the puck for to long because eventually you would blow a tire or loose your edge whatever happened to that?

Remember when we had the golden ticket or double the coin weekend whatever happened to that?

What happened to costume cameras or making up our own plays ...

You beat me too mentioning creating your own plays, but I will mention losing an edge and falling if you circle too much, too fast.

I've mentioned about blowing a tire many times but I've never received a response to as y as something as so simple can't be added ...i know y they won't add it but I would love for the Dev to say y ......
  • Honestly, I don't think blowing a tire is the answer here. I can skate circles all day without falling down, and I'm far from a pro level skater. I'd look more at changing the animations so that very tight turns cannot be sustained beyond two or three, gradually widening the player's skating arc. Also, endurance loss and fatigue effects (and subsequently fatigue regen) need to be boosted by a wide margin, particularly for more strenuous skating such as repetitive turns and 'hustling', as well as bodychecking.
  • Remember OTP lobbies and playing games indoors with teams and jerseys you actually cared about to keep it interesting and fun?

It's just funny that we had the problem of circling in the corners, then they fixed it. Then they removed the fix for some reason. I'd say it's to make the 'elites' happy but that's just my opinion.

In keeping with the theme of the thread, what happened to HUT packs that were worth it?
  • What ever happened to last price sold
