Let us start off by saying thank you for your support during these extraordinary circumstances, we’re thrilled to have finally shared a first look into NHL 21 with you. Now we’re excited for you to get hands-on with NHL 21 starting with our Closed Technical Test which will be available this Monday.

One of the biggest challenges we’ve had to face developing the game from home is our ability to stress test servers as well as the need to address any critical launch feedback from the community.

We’ve had to adapt our testing strategy given the WFH constraints meaning a Technical Test for the game is more important than ever. This Closed Technical Test gives us a chance to ensure we launch NHL 21 with the highest degree of stability and polish possible.

The Closed Technical Test will give us more time to act on your feedback before we release the game in October. That’s our #1 goal with this, to make sure community feedback is at the forefront as we head into the final stages of development.

Because this is truly a Technical Test, versus betas run in previous years, the experience will be less representative of the final game and we need to make it closed; meaning registrants are not permitted to upload any capture (screenshots or video) or stream the game. Participation is completely voluntary and you should feel free to give us your feedback through the Answers HQ, EA Forums and on Reddit so that we have the opportunity to address potential concerns before launch. We will be activity reading and listening to what you are saying throughout the entirety of the Technical Test.

Online Versus and the World of Chel will both be available to play during the Closed Technical Test. Be sure to try out Practice Mode with your buddies or Free Skate around with your player and test out some of the new traits we’ve made available. The Club Finals Championship will also be active during this time, earn Rank Points by competing against other clubs in either 3v3 or 6v6 and climb the leaderboards to earn the top spot.

Finally, there’s a lot of new features in NHL 21 that are not playable in the Technical test. Below is a roadmap of when you’ll get to see and hear more about all of them.

*Do we know when it ends?
  • Feedback without video footage from the game might be less helpful.

You can probably still capture footage but just can't upload it. At least not without risking any form of punishment.

Yep, that's my point. Maybe they'll make an exception just for feedback.

How do we get invited to the technical test and how many days we will be able to play it?
  • @gloveman1115 and @kKOV27 you had to register an the old registration page but they are no longer taking applications so you two unfortunately are out of luck.

If you didn't have a capture card you couldn't clip videos of the beta on Xbox.

Also as the explanation Clappy gave it's a legit thing. If you see Twitter lately talking about Madden it's riddled with a ton of bugs both graphical and gameplay. This is something NHL is probably needing to avoid.

  • Any idea when they are sending out the codes?

Lol yep they need to avoid how the game is the same crap different year. At least til after launch. Madden gets a way bigger budget and its still crap. So whats nhl excuse? They claim its the smaller team that causes slower development but obviously they arent focused on quality products anymore and people are waking up to it.

    1pm eastern time

  • Finaly the day is here.. This is going to be fun I hope... But I might have to remind me that,... "Because this is truly a Technical Test, versus betas run in previous years, the experience will be less representative of the final game".. Hopefully we're not miles away from the end result, should at least give us a good taste of what we have to expect.

    Have a good day all!

For those of us who received codes early do we have to wait until 1pm in order to log in? I ask because when I launch the beta and press X at the home screen it gives me the following error: INVALID_TXT_USER_BETA_LOGIN.
