So it can’t be acknowledged that ea uses amazon servers here even though you can google ea uses amazon servers and see the multiple articles saying so?
Sorry, but we don't have any other details to share on this.
If you are consistently lagging and/or disconnecting, we should go through some troubleshooting to see if there are any noticeable issues. The majority of people are playing without lag so we have to find out what is causing some to experience poor performance. There are man variables involved besides just our servers. In many cases the issue is occurring outside of our network so it's not something we can control.
I realize you're limited in what you can say because of who signs your paycheck, but we all know the truth and that EA's servers are not up to par.
So we'd all appreciate it if you'd redirect any troubleshooting energy you might have towards that central issue. It's been neglected for far too long.
Going through the actual troubleshooting normally shows if it's our servers, the ISP or your connection. We have millions of people playing our games online. Most of them are playing without issue and we post notices when there's a known problem that's being investigated. After troubleshooting literally thousands of people personally, it's been my experience that the majority of those were due to issues outside our network. A very high portion of them are due to playing on wireless connections, but we still get blamed when someone insists on connecting wirelessly to a router that's in another room or on another floor. Which then turns into the claim that our servers are the problem. Even in the same room you're going to get a much better connection wired. Regardless, we need to go through individual troubleshooting to find out why some are experiencing lag and disconnects.
Our teams are always looking to improve connectivity in general. When it comes to support, we do all we can to get connection issues resolved. Refusing not to troubleshoot because there's the assumption the servers are bad isn't going to find out why you're consistently experiencing lag and disconnects.
What would it mean if I have zero issues with other games besides NHL? Would that be a possible geographic problem? I'm 5-10 miles west of Little Caesars Arena, home of the Red Wings. Being where I am, so close to a number of "hotspots" (Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, all of Ontario, etc.), it seems crazy that the servers wouldn't have my area covered pretty well.
My PS4 is connected directly with a 2-foot CAT-7 patch cable on a 300mbps cable internet plan, which seems sufficient for everything else. I unplug EVERYTHING else on the network when I play and I do multiple thorough power cycles each session.
Monday afternoon I had a real solid connection and the game felt great, but yesterday was awful and here I am at 5:30am on a Wednesday and HUT feels like its usual stagnant self even though the in-game connection diagnostic is consistently showing me a flat 20-25ms ping. The menus are an abomination to navigate through. I deleted all my loaner items because I read somewhere that they cause lag but haven't noticed a difference from that. Anything is worth trying though when it comes to this so I'll take you up on that troubleshooting I guess.
To clarify, I'm not disconnecting at all. The game just feels slow and it feels like there's resistance in whatever movements I make. The game only feels smooth for a few hours at a time maybe every six weeks or so. Like I said, Monday afternoon was solid.. but Easter morning was the time I experienced what this game could feel like optimally and at that time my internet package was a fraction of what it is now.
We'd have to go through some troubleshooting to look into this further. There have been numerous reports over the years of "fat man" lag over the years, but it's not something we've been able to get solid evidence of. The dev team is definitely aware of those reports though.
It's hard to show you what fat-man lag looks like. It's really hard to see it happening unless the force is strong with it. You can certainly feel it in the controller. If you have it you'll know by holding a controller and playing against somebody who doesn't have it.
May I suggest some of EA's people take some time travelling around random locations and trying to play the game online in each place to see if they can duplicate the problems and see/feel it for themselves?

This also happens in offline modes, but will stop if you disconnect from the servers.
They don't want their server info out there so they can't be attacked. In the end does it really matter? They suck or they don't whether its an Amazon server or a hamster wheel plugged into a cat5 cable.
I'll give you guys a clue though. If you have ANY latency whatsoever you'll spend your whole game fighting EA's stacked animations before you can actually play your opponent.
Check out RyanMoody21 on YouTube. He's got videos up daily about everything wrong with Madden 21, and don't think for a minute that NHL 21 (and 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15) are ANY different or will be ANY better. User scores tell the story.

I got into HUT about a month ago and just entered the HUT Champions tournament this past weekend.
The lag is at an all-time high just when I need it not to be. I tried everything I could do on my end to fix it but it's no use. I'm 1-9 in the tourney and I'm giving up 10+ goals/game because there's simply no way to compete.
I understand there are a lot of good players in this tournament but I feel that I could beat a lot of them with at least a decent connection. However this is just absolutely miserable to not even have a chance.
There needs to be something done about this. The series is already on life support as evidenced by the lack of people online in games and the lack of development towards the game. But how do you expect to buck the downward trend if you're not willing to put the effort into making it better??

Same! As a software engineer I have one of the best internet plans you can get, as it's a gig connection. Yet I play this and hit pings of over the thousands in which the lag is so bad my A.I. become stupid and I feel like I'm skating in mud. As someone who has 7 years plus experience in the technology field, I have never seen a server so terrible. I did all the resets, changed my DNS and still same result. I find it more atrocious in HUT, mostly when you play Rivals or HUT Champions. Users just exploit everything wrong with this game too! I cannot even count the times I'm defending and my opponent either back skates or dekes to draw a tripping penalty. Or I will stick lift and they will spam it getting the puck back. Then they will shoot blocker side as goalies hardly ever same it. Or they will cross crease and do other shady tactics to win. If EA wants to lie to their customers and continue with this nonsense, they are going to lose even more active users.

You can have a situation where the hype train is strong causing many people to pre-order or purchase the game on release day. Then you have streamers getting the game early creating more hype no matter how bad the game is. You end up with a high sales figure with a lot of unsatisfied gamers.
EA needs to remember that players aren't going to be buying up their crappy microtransactions if they are putting the game on the shelf of trading it in after a few weeks of disgust. Total sales doesn't mean diddley if they don't have any active players spending MORE money every day.

I watched some guy spend $300 on FUT the opening day and so many others too. They will be doing just fine. NHL is going to be the same exact way. Check out Twitch the day is launches and see all the people spending $100's on HUT stuff. It will be just another year of ignoring the ratings and complaints and cashing in.

I wonder how many of the streamers actually enjoy the game. I'm sure there are a lot of them that just play it because that's their hustle that pays the bills right now.
I know I've had "once in a blue moon" moments where I don't feel any lag, and the game is a lot better in that state than what it is the "other 99%" of the time where the lag weighs everything down to the point where the game doesn't even feel interactive in any way. EA's goal should be to solve the fat-man lag riddle so everybody is figuratively playing the same game.
I just played yet another game where my players were a step behind and the other guy was able to move freely. Lost 9-1.
I've experienced smooth gameplay several times in the past 7 months months since I had this game and it feels awesome, but why does it come so infrequently and go so quickly? I at least know it's possible but it would be nice if that were the standard.

Does your team actually ever play the game online? I know the studio is in Burnaby, and I live about 15 minutes away from that. If you guys aren't experiencing delay or fat man lag in 6v6 EASHL club games, I'd love to know your solution. 6's you're almost forced to play on the East servers just due to the balance of players playing the mode on that server compared to the west, and in this game it's a death sentence playing on any server that gives you a ping above 30. Rocket League can be played with no issues with my buddies from the East coast, same with shooters like Call of Duty, but games like NHL or Madden it's a complete clown show playing with a half second delay and your player feels like he has about 30 ovr attributes.
Personally, i think it's all of the fluff in the game trying to sync up that does it, but I'm also a moron and have no idea what I'm talking about. I have invested over $500 over the years trying optimize my connection simply for NHL, but I've completely given up at this point and just accept that I'll always be at a competitive disadvantage based off where i live.
If you guys aren't experiencing this for yourself in Burnaby, open invitation to your team to come over and play 6s on my setup and tell me to my face that there is no delay and that the issue is on my end...

Yeah that fluff is no good, combine with that speed frenzy thats in the game. Must be hard to process.
How is it that the animations almost never add up, or happen at all, must mean something..?

Yes. We play our own game. I can't speak for everyone, but personally, I don't have any lag and my ping is usually around 50ms. My closest server is central US. Lag is very rare for any game I play. Could be due to the equipment that I have. Once I replaced the combo modem/router unit supplied by my ISP with a seperate modem and router intended for gaming, my connection issues were resolved. There are many variables that allow you to connect online. Our servers are one piece of that.
When the Netgear XR1000 is out in stores I'll be upgrading my router.
There are lots of terrible modem/router combos out there. Also some use a terrible chipset that has been known to cause problems. These type of things can't always fix your connection issues but for some people they do make a difference.
Look, I have perfectly good ASUS modem which I purchased myself and it wasnt' given by my service provider. Just because it didn't read 'gaming' on the box doesn't mean it's bad, ok?
And frankly, I am not going to buy a 200 dollars modem just to play this game, on the false promise that it woulld 'fix' things. All other games work flawlessly, it's just this game that has issues. We all know it's about EA servers & this game. You know, I know it, Aljo knows it. So let's just drop it ok?
Besides, claiming having 50 ping and NO lag is extremely dubious, I don't see how that is even possible. At least when you play here in Europe, that would be very unlikely.
I don't know how the servers work, I am not going to buy a new 200 dollar modem. I just want the game to work as promised, period. Paying 70 euros should be enough.

For me the investments weren't just for NHL but my wife games and she wants the best possible performance also for her games. And like you said you are in Europe so I don't even have any clue on how well that stuff works over there.

Check out RyanMoody21 on YouTube. He's got videos up daily about everything wrong with Madden 21, and don't think for a minute that NHL 21 (and 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15) are ANY different or will be ANY better. User scores tell the story.
Just shows that ratings mean so very little.
Will EA buy me a 'gaming' modem to fix the connection? No?
Do it yourself.
I personally use my own also.
Modem - $200

Router - $250

When the Netgear XR1000 is out in stores I'll be upgrading my router.
There are lots of terrible modem/router combos out there. Also some use a terrible chipset that has been known to cause problems. These type of things can't always fix your connection issues but for some people they do make a difference.
I'm curious what modem are you using?
