The breakaway waiting for 2v1's isn't an issue with the cross crease, it's an issue with the goalies stopping pretty much every shot from a good scoring chance (unless you're playing VS manual goalies).
These goalies are either braindead or Spiderman goalies again. There's literally no balance with the goalies. Manual goalies are well balanced but definitely not ai ones.

Yes they do, which is why they wait for the cross crease. 😆
You know the game is broken when someone has a breakaway and slows down to wait for the 2v1.
in that situation my guess is they don't know how to score on AI goalie.
They 100% know how to score but they play for the safest play possible to ensure they do score. There are not a lot of situations where you can depend on scoring a great percentage. But the 2v1 across the slot from the circles down is by far the highest scoring percentage play in the game. Why risk wasting a good opportunity when you can ensure a goal. It’s how it’s always been people gravitate toward what works the best because there will always be some situational spots that are much higher they others those will always be the most frequent online when all that matters is winning.

And cross creases is a typical goal thats based on speed.. Take the defenders off-gaurds, thats what it's all about, which leads to a frantically hunt with the hustle.
And even if your whole team is back home, they still don't give up on that Cc, which makes the offensive play and the defensive play, really awkward. In both zones. With no direct logic.
To bad that the highest scoring percentage couldn't be a little bit more soft. Like a nice set up, a cycle gets going, back to D, takes 2 steps forward and fire it off.
Say it like this, for a counterattack when you come flying a cross crease should be something really good to go for. But after that, I wish it almost was impossible to trickel your way to a CC, but thats not the case, either if you can or can not play defense, it's gonna happen.
cross crease/one timer are fun way to attack and score goals. its also give a chance to newbies to scores more goals and give them fun and stay playing the game more longer. Its also balancing the game giving more chance to win or make the game closer at the end of 3rd period. Ea are going on the right way to make more people addictive to the game. one -timers are part of the game and we see that more in NHl real game than dekes.Dekes are for junior hockey ligue, in nhl ligue we don't see a deke every second a player is holding the puck so why complaining about cross crease/one-timer. the human gamer can play defense or use a good strategy to counter the cross crease. So i think EA still going on the right way by make this game a difference on defense and let more people scores goals

That’s like saying FPS games should have a gun that automatically headshots regardless of where you aim. But if it makes the casuals happy who cares.
Sure the cross crease play should be viable to some extent but not to the point that people are forgoing shoot the puck and not using real hockey plays to setup the same play every single time down the ice.

The cross crease itself isn't the problem, it's what the cross creases makes people do.. It's slaughters the online gameplay.
Defense is fine but the offense is off the hook. We should have more requirement at forwards then we have now. What are they doing more then, avoid 1vs1, turn away, pass behind their back.. Hustle some more.. repeat, same procedure until your almost at the goal line, make that lightning fast pass - smack, 1T.
I read about players thats complaining even when they are winning games, like what? Really...? I cant take that as anything else that they really dosent seem to know what their doing, more then one thing, and sometimes they get lucky and win.. But ofc that aint gonna feel good.

are you talking about an undefended 2 man rush on a goalie or a 2v1 where there is a defender.
If there is a defender, "2 can play at that game". As a defender I'll usually guess they will try and take away a 1 timer. In which case usually I can stop it.
but if you practice how to score on a breakaway against AI goalie, its 100% garanteed. they will do the same thing every single time and give up the same 4 or 5 goals 100% of the time. If you miss you either don't know what you are doing, don't do it enough to have it down 100% or are messing around and screw it up.
I would say a defended 2v1 situation is probably less successful overall than breakaway.
I would say there would be 2 reasons one would pull up and wait for trailer and 2v1.
a) not confident in their scoring vs AI goalie
b) just trying to do something more fun. I try not to do the same thing twice on a break away. boring to just go FH, BH, roof it every time down. I try to pull up and set up others as much as possible even when I have an easy goal chance against AI goalie. again boring to spin around and exploit bad AI mechanics and just snipe it short side every chance I get.

yes i should agree to. i don't know propably the definition of cross crease but i do like score my goals on one timer or on a rush with a turnover a 2 on 1

Sure with time and space you can score your go to’s with relative regularity but if your off you angle a little bit in a rush situation. It becomes why risk adapting to a tougher angle and with a defender on my back when I can L2 and hold out for a trailer. They cut away from the net and the defender and find the trailer instead of shooting the partial break.
I literally see it every game someone gets a fair look at the net to put a high percentage in close play and they turn away so that if you poke you’ll trip and wait a fraction of a second to throw it to the 2nd guy trailing. Because it’s a far easier play then having to adapt to the goalie and the defender at high speeds. These 0 chance at its current state that it is easier then a breakaway even a clean break people still won’t risk messing up a move when the opportunity to pass for a sure fire goal is there.
As a defender in that spot you have two options give up the space at the net and go cover the trailer. Which is absurd from a realistic hockey stand point. It gives them even more of a possibility to score if they do end up going for the shot. Or you don’t poke and hope the pass is in your interception lane and it works. You shouldn’t have to be deciding between giving up a free look and hoping a pass interception works out. You should be able to end the play when a player deliberately passes on a clean look.

Yeah it's a nice way to score. No doubt. And I love cross creases is in the picture. But I dont like how people often tend to find thoose goals, even if it isnt a rush or turnover.
There's something thats not completely right.. And I blame back side passes and speed the most, for messing up and creating the most chaos.
The AI goalies need to read cross creases much better. Especially after you do the same one like 5 times in a row. They should be able to learn from it. I guess that is pretty hard to program.
Also agree with defensemen getting a good buff for interceptions. You should have to work for some of your goals not just wire it through a crowd everytime to hit your buddy on the cross crease.
It would be nice if you had to aim against the grain at times too. Like in NHL 13. Of course that was the year of the spiderman amazing AI goalies. The only way to score was against the grain cross creases.
This game is becoming boring quite quickly due to this cross crease cheese. I'm winning 90% of my games and averaging 6 points per game but it is so boring. I can't seem to be able to snipe like I did last year. I was a good shooter. I was also good on breakaways with different moves. Now it is better to just stop up on a break away and hit a trailer.
Very boring indeed.
First year since I started playing in 09 that I am considering finding another game to play.

There was a time in this series that the one timer was a little harder to score , because you actually had to pass the puck just right to score it or be in a good spot to score it from ,who remembers the manual sauce pass to the center ,where you actually had to the place the puck just right for the one timer
So many people on these forums with backwards mentalities. Anyone who thinks goalies need to be buffed to stop the cross creases that go through the D should give their head a shake. The D should be given the tools to stop it in the first place.
The consistency of cross creases beating the goalie is not the issue, they should beat the goalie. The inconsistency and RNG to whether you pick off a horribly forced pass is what the issue is. EA has given D no actual input other than praying on RNG that they pick the pass off.
12 years I’ve played this game and I’ve never witnessed so much poor decision making that actually gets rewarded as much as it does in NHL 21.
Anyone defending Ea on this and blaming the playerbase for doing it obviously have never had the privilege of playing actual AAA titles where problems like this are addressed in a timely manner.
But hey, what do I know it’s just par for the course where it’s going to be yet another year I shelve NHL a few weeks in, until the next years version hoping the game actually gets improved, just to be disappointed again.
The fact this game ships in this condition:
-cross crease going through D
-the insanely easy ways to guarantee a goal on penalty shots or breakaways with 100% effectiveness that someone who just bought the game could do
-black screens during penalty shots
-FPS drops after face offs
-Franchise mode being broken as hell
-Be a pro not even realizing when you do and don’t Keep or break your promises
Just tells me to stop hoping on the game and realize it’s an incompetent dev team
You know the game is broken when someone has a breakaway and slows down to wait for the 2v1.
in that situation my guess is they don't know how to score on AI goalie.
Lol. Why go for the 50-50 breakaway when you can go for the 95% curl 'n pass one-timer? These players know exactly how to score and had goalies dialed in from day 1. We sure as heck did.
