I hope it's only feedback taken from when the puck is clipping through objects. That will of course make an already challenging task even more difficult.
But other then that, the challenge of playing defense is the most fun that happen to this serie in a long time. The hardest part is defenetly to have the power to resist thoose players that build there game around high speed and force the puck their way. (and sometimes even through objects).
It’s crazy how games like rocket league, ones that have super challenging entry skill levels and even sharper learning curves as you progress, are universally loved for the most part. It’s almost like people want a challenge and want to feel themselves get better at games and be rewarded when that skill is rewarded. Compare that to games like FIFA and NHL where mastering 1-3 things that aren’t even remotely hard compared to necessary skills to even compete in a game like rocket league where the community is constantly complaining and not enjoying the game.
We need to get to a place where knowing hockey and making correct plays is much more incentivized. Spinning in the corner until your opponent’s AI forgets what he’s supposed to be doing and passing in back door should not be a viable option. It’s not fun, it’s not skilled, it’s boring garbage. Al GWC games I’ve watched have been boring garbage. Board bounces and LT abuse capped off with a one-timer. YAAWWWWNNNNN.
Haha yeah I agree.. But the funny part is that 'we' complain that the game is the same, year after year.. Then a change comes and the crowd goes wild.
It's more sim then ever, but I wouldn’t complain if we could turn it up a notch.. I want more hockey. Thats why I breath! 😏
I play d in eashl 3’s so i have to defend alot the cross crease pass and i must say that i almost always intercept the pass when i ´m in good position. My grip about the one timer is the accuracy in close angles. In versus it’s another story. The cpu play is man so bad that the cross crease become a complete joke. I dont know guys how you can stand playing with all those cpu. Im mad all game long because of them even when im winning!
I wish it was as easy as just go down on one knee and cover the pass infront of the net(if so for 2 min if thats what it takes) if you see it's obvious the other team is only looking for that pass. But it's not always that easy. But it has worked for me pretty good lately.
They have to either look for another way to score, or deked (?) themselves totally of balance and turned over the puck.
I was sooo happy in the beginning of this game and biggest sale point as mentioned earlier was advanced goalies (hell no, it's no different to the other versions), its all about speed for breakaway to cross crease to goal maybe even more than ever. Poked the puck so I could see in replay my stick went through the puck and attacking player and nothing happened. Maybe just because I play on all stars and superstar against pc in squad battles or whatever its called, but then it's ridiculous that AI is boosted when my teams AI suck... 5 bodychecks and player still going like nothing which is ridiculous even in the ultimate team pvp Or sometimes when I go for body check and miss I can see in replay that I went through the stick and puck so I don't know why there is invisibility in the game... - would help to update the game with more realistic physics or change the name of the game to nhl 3021 Defenders AI only skates backwards without attacking the puck carrier no matter how the defence settings are set. - it would help to adjust the settings in game update so defending AI actually does something and even if you take over your defender the other side is not covered for the bloody cross crease. Add the option so players could create their own strategies, that would change the entire gameplay To switch to the goalie when your player is in your defence zone is in most cases very late, since everybody goes for cross crease and due to attackers speed and nerfed defenders its too late . - that could be easily changed to be able to take over your goalie when attackers are with the puck in your half When switching to the goalie sometimes to move to the other side is too slow and doesn't matter if its top tier goalie or just some 60ovr sucker so at least when manually using goalie his speed should mean something When attacking using the buttons press once may be not enough so they don't even shoot, press twice shoot quickly and nothing or shoot and hook someone, players stats don't mean anything if you do some mistake you get penalty, and you can't even say its more for AI if AI does nothing except back skating. There could be in goalies stats another thing called "cross crease" When I play I try not to cross crease but I can see everybody does only that which is a shame and ruins the whole game Also in the ultimate team why can't forwards be in the defence? Players should be able to create and change their team however they want, not the way EA presets everything.
If you watch hockey timing a slap shot doesn't work all the time. Also I feel the puck is too magnetic,. Loose pucks really don't happen in this game,. Whoever has the puck fully has the puck, even if it's in a crowd. You either intercept a pass, or the pass gets cleanly tape to tape, that's just not the case in real hockey.
Also some of these slap shots are ridiculous. I get that sometimes slapshots are that powerful, but it seems to happen way more in this game than in real life. People doing 180 slap shots top corner is a regular occurrence. Timing a slap shot should be harder than it is. You never really see someone miss a one timer. Seems like offense is more automated than defense.
Edit: I rarely play forward because it takes like an hour to get a game going if you don't play D or goalie... because everyone wants to play forward... because it's super easy. When I do play forward I rack up points. Defense (unless the other team is awful) is way harder.
Most people only play forward, likely they are the ones saying defense is easy
One dimensional players are frustrating to other players who want to play a more well rounded game, but EA has afforded them a loophole that they can take advantage of and they use it. I'm playing the best defense I've ever played in the two seasons I've been playing HUT, but it rarely matters if some guy is rushing down the wing and getting that cross crease through through a sea of bodies 99% of the time, not to mention the ridiculous success rate of one timers, but I can't complain when I score them, but I try play a game where I'm always trying new things, other players seem fine to score the same way simple because it's easy and it has turned more experienced players from the game. I think the whole point is to learn all the tricks and create your own style, not to just use the same two plays every game.

Very good said and I can relate to that.
The game is too 'easy' in my opinion, were one type of hockey is more or less everything you need to win.
And if you don't like to play that way and instead try to play diffrent styles dependent on the situation on the ice. You probebly loose the puck and get a crease up your...
Tryed 1 game HUT today, but got angry cause it didn't feel like my opponent knew how to play hockey, and to that one I lost, 3-6. It just felt like a chaotic speed rush. No control at all, just smash.
When I have a breakaway I will wait for a teammate to do a cross crease but it's only because I don't know how to score 1-on-1 versus the goalie. I'd be interested in hearing tips people have for how to learn. It's a shortcoming of my game.

You need to get the goalie out of position. Going forehand-backhand or vice versa works really well. There are some tutorial videos on YouTube that should help.

Nice question!
First thing I did.. Was to learn to control the player in a really slow pace.. Cause if you don't hustle all the time, you get better accurate and control/power of your shots.. Try to play as careful you can, take shots from spots you normally pass the puck.
This way you learn to aim your shots best and how the goalies 'work'.
You have to not care about the loss, if you want to develop your game.

Frenchy here so sorry in advance for my english

How it should be, all the time.

Or sometimes when I go for body check and miss I can see in replay that I went through the stick and puck so I don't know why there is invisibility in the game... - would help to update the game with more realistic physics or change the name of the game to nhl 3021
Defenders AI only skates backwards without attacking the puck carrier no matter how the defence settings are set. - it would help to adjust the settings in game update so defending AI actually does something and even if you take over your defender the other side is not covered for the bloody cross crease.

When switching to the goalie sometimes to move to the other side is too slow and doesn't matter if its top tier goalie or just some 60ovr sucker so at least when manually using goalie his speed should mean something
When attacking using the buttons press once may be not enough so they don't even shoot, press twice shoot quickly and nothing or shoot and hook someone, players stats don't mean anything if you do some mistake you get penalty, and you can't even say its more for AI if AI does nothing except back skating.

Online vs is now my melody!
