Thanks for the constructive feedback. If you could get some video, that would help. Especially when it comes to the penalty issues you're seeing.
As far as auto-fights go, those happen when you injure someone. You mention using a bigger player and being forced to fight a lot so it also sounds like you play a very aggressive, big-hitting game. Apologies if I'm wrong, but if that's the case, you're going to open yourself up to more fights with that style of play.
@EA_Aljo . Do you have any information when it comes to EASHL injuries being tweaked/removed? I personally find that injuries are within reason. However, you can get injured by an AI guy. I think that is a bit much. If someone wants to run enforcer and hurt people, so be it. But good old Brunner shouldn't be able to be hurting anyone.

Thanks for the explanation but missed the point. there is no place in this game for fighting in this game. period. Every rational person has been telling EA this for 10 years and they just won't listen. Stop penalizing people for playing good hockey.
Here's a way to kill two birds with one stone. Remove injuries... again they have no place in EASHL and I can't believe they are still around. BTW anyone that responds with "thats what happens when you play with a minime like a ballerina" has no idea what they are talking about and has disqualified yourself from this conversation. I get and give most of my injuries along the boards and the size of me or the player I hit seems to have on impact on injuries. Either way stop with the injuries and forced fighting in EASHL. Its just a pure negative that adds nothing to the game.
Seriously we could make a list of all the common sense things that need to change that we shouldn't even have to tell you. And guess what, none of them will get changed. This is why the customer base is frustrated with EA. They don't listen. It feels like they are intentionally doing some things wrong just to **** off their customers.

We have seen many requests from the community for more realism and to make the game more sim, but then there's a request to remove fighting and injuries. Add that to the requests for easily auto-intercepted passes to return and it doesn't quite reflect what we've seen requests for in recent years. I don't have any details on these changing, but fights will be a lot less likely if the aggression is toned down and poke checks, stick lifts, positioning and incidental contact are used instead.
The option to fight should only come up when you injure someone or there's a penalty called on the hit. You're forced to fight if someone on the opposing team hits Y/Triangle when the option is available. So, you're only forced to fight if that is accepted. The bottom line is that if you want this to happen less, play less aggressively. This mechanic also helps keep the gooning down a bit as guys that are just out there to smash everyone are going to end up in the box more.
I definitely get the frustration and we'll surely pass on the feedback.

I should correct my statement. It was supposed to read "forced fighting". Its been in the game a long time and NO ONE likes it other than goofs that might as well be trolls. Its not realistic in any way. All rational people have asked for its removal since it showed up. Forced fighting for big hits is NOT SIM in any way.
And less people complain about injuries but they also have no place, it doesn't add to the game. Yes there are injuries in real hockey but this one feature doesn't add to the enjoyment.
This is all in EASHL. Do those kinds of things in 1v1 HUT/VS all day where there are line changes and single people playing.

I never understood why a person jumping in after a big hit causing a fight doesn't get an additional 2mins for instigation. To me, that would provide a reason NOT to fight, and if they do fight, the other team gets a powerplay.

The problem with this thinking is that after a hit, it randomly picks someone to jump in and all it takes is to be hitting the button for another reason and bam you are also fighting. So not only did the instigator not want to fight and not want to sit there for 5 mins he definitely didn't want to setup power play for the other team.

Sorry. It's also used for boardplay. So, if you happened to initiate a boardplay at the same time the option to fight comes up, you could accidentally accept it. It's also used for the between the legs deke with the NHL 94 controls.
More examples of stopping the cross crease using DSS&R3 and more proof the cross crease is entirely defendable - with the exception being some inert A.I. coverage in front of the net which desperately needs to be addressed:
Here I am doing the impossible.. intercepting a cross crease. How? I move LS in the direction of where the pass is coming from with the player I'm controlling facing the pass:
I believe the key is to keep moving your feet - be active. No longer can you just skate backwards and sit there - time to be ACTIVE defenders!
Maybe not entirely stopping a cross crease, but clearly the player is looking for that option - I'm preventing him from forcing it - so he tries to go stop shelf against the grain.. and I use DSS and body positioning to stop it:
Here's a penalty kill where my opponent is clearly looking for that cross-crease money but I won't let him:
(For those who claim player switching is 'broken' - please watch this clip closely. I'm able to take control of EXACTLY the player I need to the entire time. No problem whatsoever)

Hehe great work.. And a very friendly reminder, cross creases is not impossible to defend.
I understand it can be really hard for thoose that are use to play defense in another way. It has work for them the last 5 years, it's a long time, and suddenly something feels diffrent, and nothing work, that must suck, but if your abit humble against the game and look more at your own way of playing and listning to people that give good advice, you will start to notice a fun learning process, that I've missed in this game for ages.
Im so stupid that I think cross creases is the best that happen to this game, it has lead to people startin to realize defense is importen and much more respect against the puck carrier. It gives you so much more options in the o-zone, cause you can never relax, a cross crease is never that far away...

Im so stupid that I think cross creases is the best that happen to this game, it has lead to people startin to realize defense is importen and much more respect against the puck carrier. It gives you so much more options in the o-zone, cause you can never relax, a cross crease is never that far away...
Thank you sir!
I agree - this year has introduced more defensive responsibilities which will be a drastic change for those players who relied on being able to defend passively. (Yes, I know many of you hate this term but it's the best description of how people have been defending for the past few years)
It's extremely clear to me - especially in the example I posted above where I do the impossible and intercept a cross crease - that you need to be actively defending whether it be; attacking the puck carrier, being in the passing lane using DSS to discourage certain angles, closing off and boxing out the intended receiver, or navigating to the passing lane while keeping your feet moving and leaning in to a pass interception (rather than passively waiting for it to happen)
I am advocating so hard for these defensive responsibilities to remain - in addition to fixing the A.I. issues in front of the net that I've provided evidence for here and here - because I feel this year's defensive game is far and above previous years based solely on the users having to be more defensively responsible.
I would hate for these responsibilities to be removed because a vocal minority refuse to accept their lack of defending.
And I don't mean that to be a shot at anyone. I understand there's clipping issues that need to be addressed as well. I'm not discrediting those claims where someone has a stick properly placed but the puck goes through it - that needs to be addressed.
That said - those things don't happen THAT often and if you are a player who's constantly seeing a puck go through your L1 - maybe try some DSS & R3, maybe try getting better body positioning.. I mean I have countless GIFS that show numerous methods of defending this stuff.
Hehe great work.. And a very friendly reminder, cross creases is not impossible to defend.

I notice alot of people are having difficult with how to backskate from side to side, and then go forward, aaaand then switch and go back again. Cause its alot of up and down in a small area, if you gonna defend your zone... They either skate backward in a straight line, or are skating forward with there DSS pointing back.... In defense. There's something that isn't right, when it is that way.
In EASHL if you cannot stop cross crease , please watch some hockey defensive zone coverage tutorials on YouTube.
As for CC in versus.... well the AI sucks and needs to be improved.... for me, to win, skill zoning is the only way to counter it, as only humans can stop it . And that makes me VERY sad.
I don't think that we are debating that you can stop cross crease passes, you can. Just not often enough. That's the issue. There's lots of passes that go through that shouldn't. Through like 3 guys. You should never be able to force a pass through 3 guys unless they're not angled properly.

This. Its not about bad defending. Its about rewarding terrible offense. Bodies and sticks are solid objects and should act as such. I can shut the play down all game but eventually, that forced pass will pass through players and sticks and the waiting winger does nothing but hold up on his stick. Just like years prior, the META can be stopped most of the time but its literally the Most Efficient Tactic Available to score easy goals. Anyone can do it, and sometimes regardless of what you do, its getting through. Yeah ok lets just reward offense players for doing nothing but simply skating in a straight line down ice, waiting til he hits the goal line, forces pass through 3 guys (1 of whom is crouch blocking in perfect position) and hits the winger for a goal, who's stick is invisible and cant be lifted, and if you even try to tie up you get a penalty (but the ai does it 30 feet from the net for 10 sec at a time and gets away with it).
Meanwhile at the other end im cycling, setting up, using screens and deflections etc and get robbed left and right while he does the same play all game and is eventually rewarded. Thats one of my biggest complaints, you're more often rewarded with a goal for selfish play, and going for the same shot over and over until the broken mechanics screw you over.
Can it be defended enough so i can win? Yup but its EXTREMELY boring and goalies need learning so they catch on to certain shots and shut it down.

Oi. There are layers to this thing that some people just don't understand. It's not just about making it easier to intercept passes that should clearly be intercepted (which is just common sense), it's about changing the unbalanced metas in your games. I don't think it's impossible to defend against the cross-crease. Who does? And the records of teams with good defense notwithstanding the sometimes insufferable tools they have, will always be the end all, be all statistic.
The meta cross-crease is as bad as the poke check meta years ago. It's as bad as the short side glide snipe some time ago. Even as bad as the one-hand tuck last year. If pass intercepts were handled better mechanically, you not only dumb down the one-timer/cross-crease meta, but you also save face for the terrible goalies that usually can't seem to handle them.
I think we can post ourselves until we're blue in the face, but the fact of the matter is that it's going to change anyway. Especially when EA's bread and butter youtube gamechangers are complaining as well. Can't wait for the change.
I guess it's OK either way, if they wanna make the cross creases more hard to pull off, fine by me.. Would hopefully lead to more variation. At least I hope so..
But the reason cross creases happen has to do with alot.. So I dont really know how to just fix that.
I would, like always, appreciate an even better A.I...I would love to see.. If the other player turn away from the play, that the other's AI get a boost.. And easier could turn over the puck, to the one that play better position and challenge the opponent... To encourage real hockey.
*And the main reason why you get a cross crease against you, is probebly cause you forced to hard for a cross crease you self.. And just leave the defense to the fate. Almost everyone I played so far, is - only - trying for that goal. Almost insane.

I don't think people would ever mind about more variation. Here are some statistics. The top 2 6's club and my club's goals/goals scored with a one-timer.
1. 441 goals scored / 291 scored with a O-T
2. 290 goals scored / 145 scored with a O-T
Us. 267 goals scored / 120 scored with a O-T
Decent teams are averaging half of their goals scored by O-Ts. I can guarantee you that almost all of these are cross-crease O-T/Tap ins. The top 10 6's teams all have over a 30% success rate of scoring on their O-Ts. That. Is. An. Insane. Percentage.

Sorry, but I don't have any details on injuries being changed. If it happens, there will be an announcement or it'll be detailed in patch notes.
I got cross creased by a four eyed Rangers player.
The hook froze my whole team.
But don't get me wrong, I like the game as much as I hate the hook.
😬
I never understood why a person jumping in after a big hit causing a fight doesn't get an additional 2mins for instigation. To me, that would provide a reason NOT to fight, and if they do fight, the other team gets a powerplay.
The problem with this thinking is that after a hit, it randomly picks someone to jump in and all it takes is to be hitting the button for another reason and bam you are also fighting. So not only did the instigator not want to fight and not want to sit there for 5 mins he definitely didn't want to setup power play for the other team.
its really simple ... get rid of this garbage idea in EASHL.
You have to hit Y or Triangle. That button is only used for fighting. So, you wouldn't be hitting it by accident due to performing another action. Chances are good this won't be changing in 21 so the best way to avoid these fights would be to either use a female player or hit less.
Y or Triangle is only use for fighting? Are you sure?
Sorry. It's also used for boardplay. So, if you happened to initiate a boardplay at the same time the option to fight comes up, you could accidentally accept it. It's also used for the between the legs deke with the NHL 94 controls.

Here I am discouraging the movements that allow the cross crease to happen:

Here I stop the cross-crease by taking control of the goalie:
https://i.imgur.com/xa1c4h1.gif
Here I am doing the impossible.. intercepting a cross crease. How? I move LS in the direction of where the pass is coming from with the player I'm controlling facing the pass:
https://i.imgur.com/eJkgURa.gif
I believe the key is to keep moving your feet - be active. No longer can you just skate backwards and sit there - time to be ACTIVE defenders!
Maybe not entirely stopping a cross crease, but clearly the player is looking for that option - I'm preventing him from forcing it - so he tries to go stop shelf against the grain.. and I use DSS and body positioning to stop it:
https://i.imgur.com/jHvsSzs.gif
Here's a penalty kill where my opponent is clearly looking for that cross-crease money but I won't let him:
(For those who claim player switching is 'broken' - please watch this clip closely. I'm able to take control of EXACTLY the player I need to the entire time. No problem whatsoever)
