My friends and I sat in a lobby waiting for nearly an hour and just complained the whole time. EA doesn't care. We tried a drop in but ended up playing just 2 humans. We're basically forced to reset our club so we can go back to div 10 and find games or find a community of players that are on par with our skills. Absolutely horrible planning by this development team. Perhaps the worst decision they've made in a while and that's actually impressive..
We almost only play the weekends so it took us a while just to unlock enough to get decent uniforms for the club but we might reset the club to find games next time. Sucks EA has made us even consider that.. I couldn't be more displeased with the direction this game is going.. it really does feel like they're purposefully alienating their player base.
EA: alright what can we do that says "we don't care"
Exec 1: let's just put a bunch of pop music in that no one will like!!!
EA: brilliant!!
Exec 2: let's split the player pool by flooding the game with as many modes and lobbies as possible!
EA: LOVE IT!
Exec 3: people might continue to play club too much, let's create a barrier where people can only play within their division for half the year!
EA: OMG!
Exec 4: people seem to want online franchise.. actually I forget where I was going with that.
EA: no worries I wasn't paying attention!
Its true. If they were actually listening to it's player base, they would know that the majority of EASHLers would like to the fully customizable builds back, which in point of fact were less broken than the current system. Or that we want a custom logo uploader/designer. 2K has a moderation algorithm at work that prevents in appropriate logos, no reason why it wont work for EA.
The playoff format, while interesting in theory, works like a steaming pile of hot garbage. Go back to the four wins and you win, or for a twist, make it three wins, then a best two of three in the finals, I'm sure you could have teams commit to a three game series/make it so that the finals are locked in against that team until the series is done.
Get rid of all the secondary EASHL modes and just keep 3s, and 6s. No eliminator, ones, or anything like that. The current iteration of EASHL has been set up for failure
We only hear from a fraction of the community so making the assumption that the majority wants the old system back isn't true. I'm not saying that the people we don't hear from don't feel the same, but claims that the majority want this feature back are pure speculation. Regardless, the dev team is very well aware of the requests for this feature. It's not ruled out for the future, but they typically won't return an old feature without updating it somehow.
No, every single forum is full of people asking for all of this and more, you only listen to a tiny fraction of the population. It's not speculation, its fact. I'm not going to get drawn in here, I will not respond to you, and please stop responding to me unless it actually violates something.
I'm not saying there are those outside of the forums community that don't agree with you, but there's an exponentially higher amount of people that play and don't post on forums. It's very easy to feel like everyone feels the same as you. We typically surround ourselves with others that have similar views and interests. Those secondary modes are very popular. I understand they aren't for everyone, but we can see the traffic each mode gets and there's a very high volume of people playing those secondary modes. I definitely won't argue that custom builds would be great to have back, but if they return it's not going to happen in 21. You can't just remove the current build system and put up a new one overnight. The same goes for the playoff format. As far as custom logos go, it's a constant battle as it is trying to stop offensive player names. I don't see letting people make their own logos happening as that would just generate more offensive material.
I'm not saying what you're suggesting are bad ideas. The dev team is always listening and changes are made every year based on community feedback. They look at the whole community though and not just what is said in forums.
The main problem is the length (20 days) it only rewards those who play the most and not the best, and no choice to play regular games in the meantime. After the first playoffs my club was craving to comeback and play regular games, however after 3 (for 20 days) most of us have moved to other games.
As for the outdoor rink I don't hate it (it is better than the drop-ins) however the nhl doesn't play playoffs at a neutral site, give us back are home or away rink

Yes, the playoffs are WAY too long, and the teams that play the most are being rewarded. I think there are some ways they could improve the playoffs without re-doing the whole thing. Here's my idea:
Get 5 Round Robin games against teams with similar records. 5-0- get brackets with 7 other 5-0 teams and play down. same with 4-1, 3-2, 2-3, 1-4, 0-5 teams. From there it's the old system, 4 wins and you win the respective cup. The system right now has way too many flaws, and is WAY too long. This way it can be done in a week.

If it's not going to make big bucks it's going to be a rocky road to get it implemented, it's EA you are asking for freebies here

Can we move this thread to "New club finals format has ... the population? It would make it easier to have everything in one place
Done.
