    Very very good!

Nowhere to hide, no more excuses.

And hopefully good ping for everyone.

Too bad we couldn't get that for all game modes, including the P2P ones.

  • totally disagree. Now I only get connected to those guys that anyway have the lowest ping. The idea of levelling the field totally failed. Thank you EA. Now you lost me.

That is incorrect. For people that are not living in view of the nearest server getting out of the game before receiving automatic loss from bad connection. Now this option is gone, this ruins the game for me. And I guess for a big number of players too, who are also not living nearby a game server. So let the Finish and Swedish games continue. Seems that EA is only interested in getting the money from them.

By the way, located in Central Europe (Germany). My ping is normally something around 25 ms, and I don't had any issues with connection so far. When setting the max ping to 20 or 30 ms I only play against guys from Scandinavia with single digit ping. Especially in HUT Champs, this is a huge disadvantage. And when allowing max ping I have the same situation like before the patch.

Don't get me wrong - I think dodging and other kind of stuff should be cut of this game. But there must be other solutions for this! Come on EA...

So why not program something like matchmaking with range-bound ping on both sides??
Or why not showing a screen before every game that displays ping rate of both myself AND opponent - but without showing the opponents team name. So it would be an absolute connection driven decision which game I want to play.

Typically luke-warm move by EA. Take the right direction, but stop in the middle of the way.
  • This one change has totally changed online play, so far the fat man lag has been banished. Games are enjoyable shockingly.
Big thumbs up for implementing this
  • A few games now that the max ping isn’t taking effect, in fact one game where I set max 30.
Game was running at 130 unplayable, why is this happening?

Was it working fine and now all of a sudden you're getting high pings? If so, I'd like you to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem, router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem and router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. Let me know what happens. Thanks!

where are the ping setting for ps4 user?
  • From the last screen before you load a game. (that one were you see your teams logo). Press L2(if I remember right) and there you should have it.

    Not working as intended.

Put my ping to 20 max, and I should only be playing games on the closest server which gives me 33-40 ping. But now I'm seeing games with 45 to 60 ping against players that obviously aren't in my region or something else is going on. It's not my connection because the issue is only against specific players.

I'm still getting half my games on the expected ping, but not being able to back out against people where it's beyond ideal or the connection looks like a heart rate monitor of someone having a cardiac arrest (again its not my connection it's just happening against specific players) is making me not want to even play online.

If I pick 20, but some guy in Quebec decides to play anyone so has his cranked up, will I still match him because I'm now within his search scope? I feel like that's what's happening. Why does my connection line look flat in every game except against those specific players? Servers do not stop a potato connection from ruining the experience. No different than playing drop ins where some random Australian or euro is in the game and it lags like crazy until they leave. Then it's fine(I've played in games like that).

I don't think the change actually fixed anything tbh. Seems to be worse outside of the first game I played immediately after the update.

*don't bother with the basic tech support of did you try this or that. That isn't the problem.

Call me conspiratorial, but I have never trust the ping meter in this game. I have played my best responsive games on higher ping.

I have mine on 'any' and it's like always, some days much better then other's. Im just happy people can't back out, cause I like to play the game when I wanna play the game. 😏

    thx Sega
  • I wonder whats causes games to disconnect. Had two of thoose today.

It 'feels' like the connection can't handle the 'pressure'. Often happen after my opponent seem to push forward 'really hard' and finaly when I get control of the puck and I have worked my way in to follow he's exact game pace (speed) that he build up by only forcing the puck forward, and things are about to be hockey (interesting) it disconnect.

Like it can't fix the heat.

The max ping feature doesn't specifically look for a player with a ping that meets those requirements. If you pick 20, it's going to look for a server that is 20 or less but will connect you to the closest one if it doesn't find one that meets the limit you've set.

What is the of it point then? Isn't it doing that without that new "feature" or am I missing something?

Imo it should search for server that is under the ping limit I've set and if such can't be found, it just says "sorry bro, can't find what you asked, wanna raise your limit or keep searching?". But that's just my opinion though.

Btw is there any chance there would be smthn like that added to online VS in future?

It would be good if there was the option to enable being asked if you want to raise the limit. Hopefully, something like that gets added in the future. As for this coming to Online Versus, we'll have to wait and see if that happens. I don't have any news on it.
