In Franchise mode junior eligible players go to AHL teams instead of going back to junior

Why is that junior eligible players that have signed their ELC's are now on their teams respective AHL teams instead of sent back down to their junior teams? For example, using the Calgary Flames Jakob Pelletier is on the Stockton Heat even though he is 19 and by the NHLPA rules is ineligible to play in the AHL until 20 so he should go back to junior. In the prior NHL games this was never an issue and now it is. Is this some kind of bug/glitch?

This is most definitely a bug for this year. In NHL 20, CHL players stayed there until they were over 21 which was wrong and now this problem exists.
This is only a problem with players that have signed their ELC already before you start your franchise.
The fix I found for it is to take away their contract before starting a new franchise in edit player and then signing them after you have started. It still sucks, but this should allow you to send them back to junior.
  • So when you sign them IN Franchise mode, they go back to junior when sent down? In other words, if you sign them to their ELC in Franchise mode will they have the CHL logo next to their name in the contracts/trade screen?

Yes, after you sign them they have the CHL logo beside their name. I haven't tried every player, but everyone that I have done this for was back in junior.
  • Ok cool. Thanks for the info!
  • No problem. Maybe @EA_Aljo could pass this bug onto the team to get it fixed this year if they aren't already aware of it.
  • Definitely a bug, but some have pointed out that for 2021, in the absence of the CHL actually being having a season right now, under 20 CHL players should technically be eligible to play in the AHL.

    Thank you, @Beauts90

We'll get it raised up. If you can though, would you be able to report this bug in our Answers HQ so we can get public visibility on this for the Community to be aware of? It's important for us to track this information for QA and help gather information from players if needed.

    Thank you in advance!
