Very Simple Question
I have a very simple question. Why is L2 still in this game? It's been abused in various forms for the past three years (probably more I don't know) and it's still being abused and only getting worse. If it wasn't full on backskating, now it's the cross towards the middle.
You know this. You know it gets abused, yet it's still allowed as a mechanic in the game. Why?

There are legitimate uses for this mechanic. I wouldn't want to see it removed, but making changes to bring it more in-line with what you see in real hockey would be better.
But because things happens pretty fast paced, it's sometimes hard to manage to maneuver your player in time before it's too late.
But I wouldn’t wanna be out of it.
As Aljo said; "making changes to bring it more in-line with what you see in real hockey would be better."
That would be fantastic!
Do you not see the irrationality behind that type of reasoning? Yes, let's leave in a mechanic that maybe 1% of the games population can defend against and is 100% an exploit because a few times a game a player might want to skate backwards with the puck that ultimately has little to no impact on the game.
I'm saying it should be tuned better so it's not used so unrealistically. We can't just remove the ability to go into a backskate as there are times it's realistically used. We can agree to disagree that backskating a few times in a game has no impact. When you use it to create space or an open lane that leads to a goal, I'd say that's having more than a little impact on the game.
All tough I wish people were better of using backskate when there on there way back to defend and not so much when they are attacking.. 🙄
Really? 🤨
You want them to remove vision control and precision skating?
I use L2 constantly as it’s very needed in a lot of aspects of this game. When I play as a Dman I hold L2 for the majority of the game. It also is necessary to skate backward with the puck. When I’m a RW I use it a lot too, especially opening up for one timers on my off wing.
