Noo I didn't like them - it had some areas were I thought it was better then mine/in combination with Bf1, but overall I felt it was too fast gameplay - you don't get the time to think out cool plays.

And unfortunately it's not just to lowering the skate speed and acceleration - cause that mess up alot of other stuff that was made to work with that pace.

Jeezz - it's not easy, but im gonna go back and continue to build on my own sliders.. 🧐😄

Here is where I am right now.

Ground settings like Bf1 with only difference in.

    Game speed 1

    Acceleration 15
    Skating speed 37

    Agility 45

    Min pass speed 30
    Max speed 43

    Sauce pass speed 30

    Interceptions 100

Had some really great games with this settings.

Kinda fun to search for the perfect sliders. I do bealive I could get it even better.

But sliders is difficult, what works for me can probebly be really awkward for other's. It depend so much on how much you 'sauce', deke, dump n chase, take shots.. We'll, almost everything, plays a part.. 🤔😋

Glad you found a setting you like! You seem to like the game a lot slower than me haha.

That wasen't exactly right. Takes alot of time to adjust it to 'perfection'.

I now locked in on game speed 3 but drastic change the 'skate speed'.

But yes your'e right, looks almost like slow - motion, but I like to see it/think of it from the players perspective - on the ice.

There’s no better feeling to get the gameplay to add up to 'low speed'.

I like to build up - take some time before I attack. I sometimes get stressed when I see the clock shows 7 minutes left... 😱😄

I dont feel this game is designed to play too fast - you miss out on so many beautiful details that way.

But I have some amazing games now, were even board-play is a thing.

I will probebly get a chock when I go back online again... Hehe 🤷‍♀️

What I’m loving about my sliders is the variety of games. I’ll have to post some of my highlights I have recorded here, but I had a 6-5 game recently due to a bunch of weird bounces, screens, luck that felt really organic. Next game, 2-0 final where both goalies were playing spectacular!

Played like 7 games this weekend. Definitely more than I ever have recently. Also, I made two versions of every team so each team has 6 uniforms + goalies to match colors which really keeps things fresh aesthetically. Arena atmosphere would really go a long way, hoping that gets improved a lot soon.

I do think we still have the same kinda idea on how this game 'should' play. We just see it from diffrent 'speed levels'.

The physics is pretty hard to get right - I like to feel the body mass has a great impact on the hits, especially around the boards - see them rattle.

I would very much like to see some games you play - true pleasure. Would be fun to show you some of mine too. So you get an idea how I work with the game.

I think no one plays hes 'own sliders' like you do yourself.

The more 'I get to know' my sliders - the better I can use them. I never know what goal will be next - even the opposite AI play somewhere near hockey... 🤤😐😉

I’m sure you’re seeing the same stuff I am as the sliders are mostly the same. Yeah, the board play looks really good imo. Lots of small but effective hits which makes getting the puck easier for the defensive team. Even the big hits look really smooth and nice compared to the default big hits. I absolutely crunched someone along the boards yesterday and it was really satisfying.

Hopefully you’re seeing it too, but the goal variety is incredible for me with my custom goalies. I see snipes, screen goals, scramble goals, goals that trickle in through armpits, and to top it off I see a lot of really nice saves on chances that I’ve definitely scored on before. Unlike online, there’s a really fun uncertainty to shooting and one-timer chances.

Things that I see as noticeably needing improvement from the AI:

    1. D-zone coverage, especially when the puck goes behind the net, CPU really struggles with their assignments here.
    2. NZ stretch passes up the boards. I’ve found the 1-4 to be the only thing that moderately mitigates how easy it is for humans to make stretch passes up the boards into the NZ which usually results in odd-man rushes/breakaways. If I make this pass, I always chip/dump the puck to simulate what a real human would do (step and force the play).

Yeah I haven’t touch the goalies. They are incredible. Saw such a cool animation today when the goalie stretched high with the glove to catch a puck that went way over he's head. (in butterfly). 😐🙏

Today im working on to improve the passes, I try to 'force' hard passes tape to tape without the puck glancing off the stick.

And there is such a small difference in the numbers -.. 1 up or down can make a huge diffrent.

I somehow gets the difficulties to 'match' the game - for everyone, online.

Passing is one thing I got pretty much where I wanted, but I definitely could tweak a little more. I’ve worked so dang hard on these though that I don’t want to get caught in slideritis again so I’m just rolling with it haha.

The hard part is, I want it to be difficult to force hard (fast) passes from close proximity without sacrificing long hard passes from being too penalized. I also want fatigue and skill to play a factor as well. I think there are times when catching a pass is extremely hard on my sliders, but I kind of like that in a way as it forces me to actually try to glass chip and use saucer passes to clear the zone without icing it so I can change lines and remove the pressure.

So I like where they’re at enough to not tweak, but if I were to dive into any tweaks, I’d try to perfect that. That being said, it’s made me make passes to people’s forehands more consciously which is a skill in itself. Sometimes I’ll just launch a saucer pass right at the CPU D in hopes they’ll flub it and it’ll bounce out of the zone haha.

Hehe I get what you sayin.. Today I got so caught up with the sliders so I forgot to just play for fun. But I get so focus - to get it right. Last game was for fun, and it got me happy, had some really fun o-zone time.

I want hard accurate passes to be on the tape, even if my players are really close - so I can play D to D fully charged passes without any risk to loose the puck cause 'he can’t handle the pass'. What I 'loose in speed' I try to take back with passes - to get some pace going.

"Sometimes I’ll just launch a saucer pass right at the CPU D in hopes they’ll flub it and it’ll bounce out of the zone haha"

Haha I feel you.. I have some launching I do myself - in hope to 'correct out' the gameplay. 😄👍

I found that if I can pass too hard without much of an issue, the cross creases are way too easy. I needed to make it harder on myself so that even if that’s all I tried, I wouldn’t have much success. That, and my goalies are actually decent at stopping those chances as well.

How much back and forth do you go with this?

As I said earlier - I can go on all day long, in the search/bealive that I will nail it... But I never really do... 😵🧐🤯

I probably have been running the same sliders for about 6 weeks now. It took me literally from October to late March/early April to get to this set which includes the global goalie attributes adjustments. I still think the “speed glitch” is a thing and therefore adjustments you make without doing my mitigating technique could produce a completely different game, so fine tuning these is extremely hard.

As far as game speed 1 goes, I find the animations to be really out of whack when you move away from game speed 3. I find goalies give up a lot of weird goals from far out the slower you go, I’ve just never had great luck making any set below speed 3 actually work for long term success. I’ll like it for a game, then hate it the next.

Simply put, I think the default speed produces the nicest animations. I think acceleration is the egregious part about default settings which is why I hammer that so much. Also, adding in fatigue to the point that I do makes “cheese goals” less automatic because you can glide perfectly yet miss the shot.

I watch a lot of YT with “sim settings” and I’ve tried all of the OS sliders, and I just don’t find the balance of difficulty + realism of anyone else’s set up to par with mine when combined with my goalie + strategy settings. Obviously to each their own, that’s the beauty of sliders, but I feel like I’ve tackled some of the worst parts about this game.

    1. Goal variation. I have a ton without money plays and without goalies being uncharacteristically weak from far out. In fact, when I’m getting shutdown, putting pucks on net with screens and good puck movement naturally starts resulting in scoring chances, goals, and space. Also, my goalies give up trickling goals, screen goals, tip goals, yet make enough saves and some big saves to where I’m still averaging around 5 combined goals a game with about 36 combined shots a game which also shows shooters aren’t just missing the net an incredible amount either. Maybe they’re not sniping corners, but pucks are hitting goalies and goalies are making 99% of saves they should (had my first outlier I’ve seen in 6 weeks the other day).

    2. AI that isn’t incredibly passive. Using my strategy adjustments, there’s a good mix of aggressive and passive play making the CPU much more dynamic to attack against. The NZ stretch pass issue exists but my passing settings reduce the effectiveness of it + the 1-4 also mitigates it + just simple house rules of not exploiting it works wonders. The game is what you make of it.

    3. Increasing difficulty without making the game too frustrating. Some OS sets rock 0 puck control. Guys can’t even skate with the puck on those settings. My settings allow and encourage RS use to be successful. I’m wanting an “esport” experience where hockey plays mean something. I don’t want to lose fluidity in the controls or make simple RS protections a “risky” play. I also don’t want 100 pass interceptions either. Passes get through IRL, but fatigue + ratings + handedness of the receiver + goalies being good = passes get through without making goal totals skyrocket. The only thing I can’t do with these sliders are like the datsyuk/Michigan and fatigue will hinder most LT spin moves but my top line can definitely pull those off. RS movements are automatic, skating doesn’t result in puck loss, stride dekes are very difficult which makes these setting perfect for the experience I want.

    4. Shooting skill is a thing. Learning to use screens, purposefully shoot for tips, slap pass, learn to “wiggle” RS a bit when you have a good opening will result in more goals. Coming down straight on and shooting doesn’t work against my goalies much. You need to give them a wiggle (shoulder fake if you think of it) a little hesitation, or a Sri handle then a shot and you will start scoring goals. That being said, bottom 6 guys start becoming a lot more inaccurate when you do that so you gotta know your roster and pick and choose your spots to get fancy.

So yeah, I don’t approach these as “sim” I approach these as “hybrid” settings. I don’t take liberties against the AI because I know they’re the AI and that I can get them to give me too much time and space at times. I play as if I were playing 6s. I move the puck, i assume defenders can use DSS, I try to make quick passing plays and add-in a little 1v1 skill if the scenario is realistic and I have a top 6 guy on the puck.

Still gotta find a way to record my games because I’d say I play quite a unique style but this is how I’ve always played sports games. The experience is what you make of it. If you’re not wanting to win at all costs, don’t. Play the game as if you’re playing a human. Try to make the game experience more fun and it will not surprisingly be more fun lol. These settings do a great job of preventing me from cheesing a lot of scenarios + my own intuition prevents the rest. I’ve had some great games with a huge variance of scoring this past 6 weeks or so, can’t wait to boot it up tonight after not playing for a few days.

Yeah I can imagine how much time and effort you been putting on this - it's Damn hard to hit the jackpot.

I did not feel home at all with this sliders from 'reddit'.

I find the least fault with the game if things dont move so fast.

I will try to combine your sliders with my own - that seem to give me the best experience.

Will be fun to show each other our own presentation of this game.. 😉👍

I’ll link my two most recent posts here, both played back-to-back via saving the sliders as a new (or overwriting) preset, turning off the Xbox, turning it on again.

    6-5

    2-0

Just look at some of those bounces in the 6-5 game lol. It was actually awesome. No cheap goals, just some puck luck + some screens that lead to an eye-opening score.

Then the next game the goalies save everything!

But I like the opportunity to shots that often occur, feels pretty natural.

Some nice puck bounces too. You have done a great job! 🙏

My biggest problem is to get the opposite AI to play more how I would like them to do, but maybe it's me - that try to push things too hard, the game obviously has it's limitations - I sometimes seem to forget that...

I have played way to much today - sliders back and forth...tired of the game right now hehe... Maybe online is a good option for me - after all...no changes I can affect.. I get my internet back tomarow...

    😏

I only play a game or two a night when I do play. It gets a little tiring haha. Play too much and you’ll burn yourself out.

In periods I play really much - feels like im always fighting an addiction - especially when things dosent go my way - then I refuse to accept the reality... 🙄

But yes - the game is never as good as when you play it more rarely.

Just need to remind me of that!

    "only 2 periods".

Some nice cycle, especially in second period. Not so spectacular goals.. But this is my attempt to get it a little bit like hockey.. 😊😬

How’d you record for so long? What are you using?

Also, I think you’d really like TNK’s sliders on OperationSports. He has a set that’s speed is very similar to yours. Might want to see what he’s doing and incorporate some of his values into your sliders.

It's ps4, we are further ahead then xbox in our development.. Pice of cake to record with just one singel push on a button.. 😜

Any chance to show me a link or anything to his values.. Im really interesting.

Come over to the dark side of the gaming force BF1, lol.

You 2 guys are making it difficult to choose which set i should stick with. Tried Segas yesterday and i like the passing a bit better. Also, if you look closely enough you can see the top of a beer bottle in his video, lol

All kidding aside fellas, thx for all the work you're putting into it and sharing. It's keeping me interested enough to keep playing.

Glad to see you around here now and then.

Wow! This is what I call sliders.. Much better then mine.. Only thing I had to do was to change 'min pass speed to 25' and the rest flows like a smooth dream.

    I defenetly keeping these..

If you know that man - send him big kudos!

And thanks to you Bf1 - that knew my type of taste! ⭐🙏

I take zero offense if my sliders aren’t right for you haha. I completely admit that they are built for my specific roster, goalies, style of play, and are admittedly less “sim” than what many “sim” guys are probably looking for.

I just like sharing them because I think they’re a good middle-ground between a TNK-style set and the arcade garbage we see in default online play. Some stuff is probably a bit unforgiving but that’s solely to increase scoring difficulty for me. I’d for sure make stuff more clean/crisp if I could play against a human or humans on these as they would be able to much more effectively stop some of the plays I’m trying to mitigate even if I catch the pass clean or whatnot.

Key to my set: really precise aiming (make sure to account for handedness) making lots of area passes, knowing your roster and making simpler plays with bottom 6, making simpler plays when fatigued regardless of skill, not being afraid to shoot through screens, training yourself to not be afraid to “hog the puck” (just a bit) when a skilled guy has a bit of space as he first shots in a glide can REALLY snipe a goalie at times.

It is a bit faster than TNK’s though, I’d easily go with his if you’re liking the slower feel. He’s gotten nothing he awesome reviews on it! Too slow for me, but his goals/games look great!

OT: how to record up to 60 minutes on Xbox One, link to YouTube very good video, 3:36 minutes.

You need an external USB 3.0 stick(/hdd/ssd). One full game in 1080p30 takes less than 2Gb so 32Gb or 64Gb stick is more than enough. Those clips are not able to upload via Xbox, you need to connect the stick to PC to do that.

Listen to Bf1, I think you will like.

You may have to change some small numbers here and there.

But I find TNK's sliders to be a perfect start. Im abit surprise myself, he really manage to squeeze out alot of good sides with this game.

What I like about this slow gameplay is that the ice feels bigger - and you get room and time to find passes that would have been impossible in a much faster gameplay - you would have eaten up same surface/room with just speed.

There’s no right or wrong in sliders - it's a video game, were you try your best to get the game to be like you want it to be.

And this can be a really good game - alot of the ingredients is there, you just have to find them.

Which is more or less impossible online.
