The Ultimate Defense Thread

OK so as someone who has played pretty much 98% as a DMan in this game since I started (NHL 14, I am a latecomer) I thought it would be cool to have a thread just on how to play good defense. I am primarily wanting to focus on stuff for DMen - and primarily in EASHL.

Defensive tips for other modes, and for forwards - god knows some of them need it - are also welcome.

I will start with the best video on DSS that I have found. I just discovered this video and I actually learned something about DSS that I did not know. The Stick Checking attribute affects how *quickly* you can move your stick using DSS. Thats it.



Other takeaways
- do not use DSS to actively block a pass
- Release RB/R1 before making contact to avoid penalties
